Happenings in July - TWISTED (撞鬼) Exclusive Screening + Birthday Dinner at Shin Kushiya

Saturday 23/7/11

Right after the blog award, we made our way down to Shaw for the preview of the latest horror action comedy TWISTED (撞鬼) , starring local actor/comedian Mark Lee (李国煌), veteran actress Mimi Chu (朱咪咪), and Taiwanese singer/actor Linda Liao (廖语晴)!

Thanks Hong Peng for bringing me along.

Is it karma, or just bad luck? 到底是人还是鬼比较可怕?

Synopsis:
The movie is actually made up of 3 stories. A story of individuals with fates interwined and their paths collided. A series of twisted events that is a study on cause and effect and how our actions affect the people around us. Somehow, ill-luck seems to transcend the characters.

Director: Chai Yee Wei

Released date: 28 July 2011

The casts visited our threatre to thank us for supporting the movie (:

Story 1:

Guan (starring Mark Lee) is a flashy, womanizing drug dealer. It was during one of his many flings that he’d knocked up Mimi (starring Candy Lim), who turned obsessive in getting his attention which led to a fatal end. Guan’s ruthless way unknowingly unleashed the devil in Mimi…

Really got a scare here. There was a part where I screamed out as I totally not prepared for it. Actually I’m not really a big fans of horror movie, especially watching in threatre because I will be easily scared by all the sound effect and sudden scenes. I still went for it because I wanted to support Singapore movie ♥

Over these few years, Singapore had filmed quite a few horror-comedy movies. Compared Twisted with the others, it can be considered one of the scariest one in Singapore. If you like horror movie, you can go for this. If you are like me who are scared of horror movie, not to worry, the comedy part will make you laugh your head off.

An example:

Mark Lee turning into a transformer using his car wheel. Wow, he looked pretty cool. I’m sure everyone will agree that there is the funniest part once you see the movie.

Story 2:

Through Guan, two horny cabin crew, Cavin and Randall (starring Cavin Soh, Randall Tan) got their hands on some drugs. Their game plan was to spike the drinks of their colleagues, Linda and Tracy (starring Linda Liao, Tracy Lee) during a night out at the club. Anxious to get fresh of the girls, the eager duo stumbled upon a freak accident. The incident soon snowballed and led to a series of unfortunate happenings, bringing about a display of animalistic survival instinct.

This is the least scariest part of the 3 stories and quite exaggerating too. I like the part where Mark Lee was being interwined in the 3 stories, added some meaning to it.

Story 3:

Fa (starring Zhu Mimi) and her daughter, Yi Ning (starring Joey Leong) were victims of her abusive husband. Unable to tolerate the abuse and traumas, Fa killed her husband. The vengeful spirit of her husband swiftly possessed Yi Ning to create harvoc. To save her daughter, she seeks the help of two mediums, who further complicate the issue.

I find that Zhu Mimi really act very well in her role. In the movie, she did not put any makeup which make her look quite scary. The 2 mediums were very funny, especially the part about the black dog blood which is used to chase away evil spirit. The use of hokkien also spice up the whole movie – the culture of Singapore film.

If you love horror-comedy film, be sure to catch TWISTED (撞鬼) from 28 July 2011 onwards.

Monday 25/7/11

Met up with fellow bloggers for a dinner at Shin Kushiya which was located at far east square. Shin Kushiya, best-known for its japanese charcoal grill.

Hmmm.. What was on the table?
TaTa, is the dozen of vouchers which they had gotten from the gastronomic feast. It was so nice of them to ask me out for this dinner (:

And also Kushiyaki which is recommended by the girls. I loved the tomato one, juice came flowing out upon the first bite. The bacon one was equally nice as well (:

Say cheese.

The people around us had all finished their meal and left the restaurant, we were still enjoying chatting away. We had endless topics to chat about. Lol, what do you think a group of bloggers will chat about???

While we were chatting, the guys surprised me with a cake. Omg, I’m totally din expect a cake. *shy*

It’s tofu cheesecake ♥

It’s not how big the celebration is that matters to me, but the thoughts that count ♥

I really appreciated it.

With Angie.

The girls – shuqing, Angie and Jessie ♥

Friday 29/7/11

TGIF, weekend is round the corner, time for us to enjoy again. Attending classes had drained off lots of my energy and also missed out lots of exciting events -_-

To reward ourselves for a week of hardwork, we had a department lunch at Modesto which is located at Vivo City. This is my second time dining at this restaurant, we were spoilt by the wide variety of pasta and pizza. As there were like quite a number of us – approximately 15. So we decided to order pasta and pizza and shared among ourselves.

Salsiccia E Scamorza – Pork sausage pizza. This was recommended by the staff over there. Not too bad, love the crispiness of the thin crust pizza.

Today is also my last day work. So happy, finally I have time for a break.

Aww, received quite a few presents today, you guys were so sweet ♥
Thanks for all the gifts and the lunch treat.

Singapore Blog Awards @ Shanghai Dolly

The biggest blog event of the year, the Singapore Blog Awards 2011 is here. The event is organised by omy.sg, a bilingual news and interactive web portal by leading media group Singapore Press Holdings Ltd.

The Singapore Blog Awards 2011 consist of 10 main awards categories, 4 sponsored awards categories and 2 celebrity awards categories.

The event was held at Shanghai Dolly which is located near Clarke Quay. That was my first time patronizing the club.

And the theme for the day was: History Gets Social. Spotted quite a couple of people dressing in historical characters.

Platters of finger food were being served in the event. They were yummy and delicious ♥

Deenise, Tracy, me and Jessie. Deenise was one of the finalists (:
By 3pm, the club was already full of people. It was very happening inside. Saw lots of familiar faces everywhere we go. We had an enjoyable time catching up and snapping photos.

With Sheron. We were sitting at the same table ♥

A photo of me. Didn’t register myself for any of the award category as I felt that my blog still need rooms for improvements. Shall enter the competition next year and be your potential competitor (:

Passing by the guys’ table to catch up with them:

With Hong Peng and Jessie. HP was one of the finalists from under the Best Social Media Integrated Blog.

With Andy aka the Daddy Blogger. He was so amusing, he brought his son’s bag along (:

The host of the event is 阿栋, Radio 1003 DJ (spotted at the right).

And the Guest-of-Honour was Major-General (NS) Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Minister of State for Information, Communications and the Arts.

Don’t be surprised, Minister reads blogs too. He even named a few of them. Social media platforms like is really one of the ways where you could communicate with youngsters.

With Kaiyi at our seats.

With Jessie, the first pal I met for the day.

Another shot with Hong Peng.

With the pretty girls ♥

With William, he was one of the finalists too.

Darren was at the event too.

So the 3 guys went to find this pretty lady who made pizza. Guess what? This lady turned out to be Abigail – I first seen her on TV was in “Money not enough” movie. Wow, that was like more than 10 years ago. Anyway, the guys were accusing her of putting a pretty photo but she turned out not to be one of them.
