ArtScience Museum - Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb + Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition

Finally made my first visit to ArtScience Museum which is situated along the Marina Bay waterfront. Everytime I walked past Marina Bay, I will never fail to stop and take a look at the lotus-inspired building. The architecture is simply amazing.

The Museum resembles 10 “fingers” anchored by a unique round base in the middle. The design of each finger reveals different gallery spaces featuring skylights at the “fingertips” that illuminate the dramatically curved interior walls.

The ArtScience Museum hosts marquee international exhibits as well as permanent exhibits.

Today, I was here for the two exhibitions - Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb and Essential Eames: A Herman Miller Exhibition.

Before we started the tour, we watched a 3D film that captures the "virtual unwrapping" of the 3,000-year old mummy of Egyptian temple priest Nesperennub - whose original cartonnage coffin has never been opened - to unveil the story of his life and death, complete with a digital reconstruction of his facial appearance.

Now I know how mummification process is done.

I first came to know about Mummy was through the movie Mummy and Mummy Returns. So prior to my visit, I was having this thought in my mind - will the mummified body in the museum wakes up suddenly. Lol, I think too much already.

There are over 100 artefacts in the museum, including six exceptionally preserved mummies from the extensive and famed Egyptian collection of the British Museum. The exhibition will explore the mysterious rituals of life, death and the afterlife in ancient Egypt.

Time for Herman Miller Exhibition.
Take a look at this timeless furniture creations, their influence and innovation extended far beyond that into architecture, exhibition design, toy making and film.

The exhibition showcased a number of rare works and images. It includes original paintings by Ray Eames; interactive objects from the original Eames' Mathematica exhibition explaining complex mathematical concepts through simple forms, the fun and educational toy House of Cards.

Everyone is having fun exploring.

We got the ticket at $18 for two exhibitions.

A very stunning view just outside the ArtScience Museum. I can sit here the whole day just to admire the citty landscape of our beautiful Marina Bay.

With Khadijah chilling outside.

It was an enjoyable learning visit to ArtScience Museum.

The exhibition for Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb will end on 4 November. For those who haven't make your visit there, remember to visit before the deadline.
