BYCH Hot Yoga‏ Cardio Class‏

Hot yoga has been increasingly popular nowadays as it provide lots of health benefits.

• It develops healthier eating habits that keep weight off the body
• Keep us stay tone and lean
• Maintain youth, vitality and radiance
• A great preventative medicine for common diseases (such as high blood pressure, diabetes)
• Maintain or improve the natural range of motion with the help of the heat

What is the difference between a hot yoga and a normal yoga?
Everything is the same except for one difference. The only difference is that hot yoga is practiced in a high temperature heated studio.

Why people go for hot yoga?
Hot yoga helps to burn off more calories as you will sweat a lot, every muscle and bone joints got worked by your own strength. Practicing in a hot room helps in detox as well.

*************************

Yeah, I was given an opportunity to try out a hot yoga session. Frankly speaking, I have never try before yoga. So being a first timer, I was a little nervous.

Reaching my destination, BYCH Hot Yoga which is located at Raffles City Shopping Centre.

BYCH Hot Yoga’s classes are suitable for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. The yoga classes are designed for beginners so with a little practice and experience, you will quickly feel right at home.

Shoes off before heading to the ladies and change into our attire!!!
We have to place the shoes on the shoe rack upon entering the studio.

A group photo with GF, Jas and Yingzi. Thanks Jas for taking the photo.
Being our first time, I felt that we have overdressed because all the females in the toilet were wearing just sport bras.

We were ready to go for BYCH cardio class. Custom-made yoga mats and  bathing towels are provided, so that there isn't a need to bring our own.

At BYCH Hot Yoga, they use “MOWEL” instead of a typical rubber yoga mat. Mowel is toweled yoga mat which can absorb sweat. It has a towel surface and a waterproof plastic underside. It can be washed and dried after each use.

As we were unable to bring our cell phone into the yoga room, no photo was taken during the workout.

BYCH Hot Yoga consists of 2 types of classes: BYCH Classic and BYCH Cardio.

BYCH Classic is traditional hot yoga practiced over 90 minutes in a room heated to 40ºC; comprising a fixed sequence of standing and floor postures that is designed to safely stretch and open the body in preparation for the next posture.

BYCH Cardio is a 55-minute class, focusing on standing postures. The combination of the heat and intensity of the standing postures creates a great cardio effect. This is an alternative work out for runners or people who love aerobic exercise. It is also perfect for those on the go.

We went in to the BYCH cardio class with a bottle of water, a positive attitude and an open mind.

Upon entering, I could already feel the 40ºC heat generating.
The heat combined with the sequence of 26 postures is what makes BYCH Hot Yoga so special. In this heated environment, muscles are more relaxed and pliable, allowing you to work deeper in a shorter amount of time. The heat also helps prevent injury, and expedites the flow of blood to improve circulation. And, fatty acids are more mobilized in the heat, burning fat more efficiently.

Sweating helps flush toxins from your body, giving you a wonderful, energized and refreshed feeling after each and every BYCH Hot Yoga class.

It has been awhile since I last sweat so much. I could feel every muscle and bone joints got worked by my own strength.  It also promotes the healing process while quietening the mind, making me feel really calm.

Each BYCH Hot Yoga class burns up to 1,000 calories. In long run, one will see the general slimming effect and your body will become leaner.

A great relief and relaxation came after the class, making me feel lighter, physically and mentally. Thankfully, I don't feel dizzy or nauseous during the class. The cause for these symptoms is dehydration. Do drink plenty of fluids throughout the day will help make the class easier.

If you experience the dizziness, just sit down, and take a breather but keep you head up and eyes open the entire time.

The only discomfort I have was my sweat went into my eyes, making it sting until I could barely open my eyes.

My 55 minute class has ended. I felt so refreshing after the workout.

Physically accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels, BYCH Hot Yoga leads to increased health, fitness, mental clarity and ultimate relaxation for practitioners by building a strong physical and mental foundation.

Though it was a little tiring, I tried to follow what the instruction given by the instructor. Just keep your focus and the level of endurance will increase as well. I felt re-energised as the toxic in my body has been cleared.

It is a good form of exercising. You should try it yourself too. For more information, please visit https://www.facebook.com/BYCHSingapore

GF's Advance Birthday Celebration at The Tiramisu Hero Cafe

Time for gathering again.

As GF's birthday is approaching, we decided to meet up and have a simple birthday celebration. After much consideration, we had chosen on The Tiramisu Hero Cafe which is located at Tyrwhitt Road. It took us quite awhile to locate the cafe, I took we took a longer route as we even passed by Singapore Casket.

Finally settled down in the cafe, The Tiramisu Hero is actually co-owned by the renowned blogger Peggy Chang (sixpegs).

The interior design of the cafe had caught my attention, how on earth did they managed to hang the ladder up on the ceiling?

I love the drawings of Sir Antonio too,so cute.

Even TZ was snapping photos of the design as well.

While waiting for our food to arrive, each of us took a photo with the trademark of The Tiramisu Hero - Sir Antonio’s head.

Jasmine posted this photo on facebook and ask everybody to guess who is who. Both Jasmine and GF's brother replied with the correct answer. No doubt, family are the ones that know you the best.

Here's my OOTD. Haha, just realised I haven't been posting much about my ootd. I will do it more often now.

Andrew was so bad. I asked him to take a photo of us and the girls weren't ready yet. Once we were ready for the camera, he returned the camera to me and said he had snapped a shot already. And I immediately replied: "What? You took already?"

Well, so the above photo was what he had took.

We took the photo again and this time round, we were ready for the camera.

I helped the guys to take a group shot as well.

HAM & CHEESE WRAP $9.80.
Ham with cheese melts in a warm toasty wrap with our chef’s secret recipe sauce.

BANGERS WITH MASHED POTATOES $15.00.
A traditional British dish of an assortment of gourmet sausages served with mashed USA potatoes.

CHEFCHEF CURRY BAKED RICE $12.50.
White jasmine rice baked in fragrant chicken curry. The curry was really hot, spice lovers gonna love it.

Thanks GF for treating us to the signature tiramisu - MOMMAHERO.
Tiramisu is timeless and a classic Italian dessert that is love by everyone. I had select Oreo flavour.

One thing I am grateful for is to know these bunch of people, I treasure our friendship very much.

The Tiramisu Hero Cafe is really a nice place to chill out and have a good meal with your friends. We had so much laughter during that dinner. We should do it more often.

Took a photo with Peggy was at the cafe as well. She was at the cafe to help out.

With Cindy, Claressa, GF, me and Jasmine.
Though it is just a simple gathering, but being with the people I love is always a blast.

Last but not least, happy birthday to GF.

Launch of Benzac New Facial Care Range

Acne is a skin problem that is experienced by many of us, it makes us feel low self-esteem and depressing.

Whenever I have bad skin days, I would feel socially awkward and low confidence. Especially when having conversations with others, I would always be thinking "oh gosh, will they be putting all their focus on my skin and wondering why did she has so many scar marks and pimples on her face........."

Well, this will really ruin your day and destroy your self-esteem.

Knowing this problem, Benzac, a leading dermatologist-recommended acne brand, has announced the launch of a range of Benzac cleanser products, targeting different skin types.

As acne sufferers have different skin conditions ranging from normal, sensitive, oily to combination, the new range of Benzac cleansers and scrub aim to complement the current Benzac AC treatment gels by removing impurities from the skin and unblocking pores, leaving your skin nourished and soothed.

The Benzac product range is a full set of treatment solutions that consist of three gels in different strengths and five cleansers that comes in scrub, liquid and foam forms. The Benzac cleansing range comes in a pimple gel, facial scrub, liquid and foam cleanser.

The launch was held at Nine Thirty by Awfully Chocolate @ Esplanade Mall.

I was here together with GF. Thanks GF for extending the invitation to me.

Dr Hazel Oon, Consultant Dermatologist and Head of the Acne Clinic from the National Skin Centre, also shared with us more in depth and prevention of acne.

Acne is a long-term disease. It is important to recognize that acne sufferers do have different skin types and need a skincare routine that is appropriate for their skin type.

Benzac takes care of everybody's needs. There are 2 series of facial care: normal to sensitive skin and oily to combination skin.

Many acne sufferers have a tendency to cleanse their skin excessively. Over- cleansing will not only exacerbate existing irritated skin conditions but can also cause redness and leave the skin inflamed. Thus, the Research & Development team at Benzac specially formulated the new Benzac Daily Facial Cleansers with herbal plant extracts like Calendula and Aloe Vera for effective and gentle cleansing.

For normal to sensitive skin:
The cleansers come in the range of a liquid soap and a foam cleanser. The key ingredients for both formulas are Calendula, Aloe Vera and Softening agents. The products remove impurities and help unblock pores without additional aggression and produce a non-oily protective and moisturizing film on the skin.

For combination to Oily Skin:
The cleansers come in the range of a liquid soap and a foam cleanser. The key ingredients are Calendula and Aloe Vera, which remove impurities and help unblock pores without additional aggression. It also helps to reduce oiliness throughout the day while maintaining the natural moisture of the skin.

The Benzac Facial Scrub is suitable for all skin types. The scrub allows for deep exfoliation, which will clean the skin and reduce skin oiliness without damaging the skin. It is recommended to be used twice a week.

Benzac AC Gel is an aid in the treatment of acne and is available in 3 strengths for topical application.

Gel Strengths
● Benzac AC Gel 2.5%, Mild Strength
● Benzac AC Gel 5%, Moderate Strength
● Benzac AC Gel 10%, High Strength

The Benzac AC gel treatments are suitable for people with mild to moderate Acne. The key active ingredient – Benzoyl Peroxide is an organic compound in the peroxide family used for acne treatment. Its key benefits lie in keratolytic action (unblock pores), anti-inflammatory action, reduce sebum production and kill acne bacteria within 48 hours.

The Benzac AC Gel is also specifically formulated with Acrylates Copolymer (AC) beads to absorb excess oils (sebum) that can carry bacteria, thus reducing surface sebum and it also releases glycerin, which helps to moisturize dry and irritated skin.

After the presentation, it is time for makan.

We started off the meal with Waldorf Salad with a walnut crumble.

Next was Avocado Soup Shot. A very unique dish, I finished it in one shot.

The main course - Pink Salmon Linguine.
The salmon was really good and fresh.

I was bagged home with some of the products which consist of liquid cleanser, facial scrub and Benzac AC gel. I had chosen the oily to combination skin type since I belonged to combination skin. I was be sharing the product review very soon. Stay tuned to it (:

Benzac Range of Daily Cleansers and Treatment Gels will be available at Guardian, Unity and Watsons. Product is available at Watsons from end January 2014.

Channel U's Private Screening of Served Hot《烧。卖》and A Taste of History《寻味地图》

Hey everyone.

Right in the beginning of 2014, Channel U will released two new food-related programmes - Served Hot 《烧。卖》& A Taste of History 《寻味地图》.

Being a food lover, these two programmes are something that I should not missed.

Thanks Channel U for the invitation, I had the opportunity to attend the private screening of A Taste of History and Served H.O.T which was held at Swatow Seafood Restaurant.

Keep reading to find out more about it.

I was assigned to table 1.

With Tracy who was in the same table as me.

Meet Bryan Wang, the host of the event. Bryan is really funny and good at cracking jokes. The first thing he said when on stage was: "Welcome to Channel U's Private Screening of 《烧。卖》, English name Siew Mai."
Upon hearing, the room had burst into laughter. Lol.

Besides being the host of the event, Bryan is also the host for the new infotainment show, A Taste of History 《寻味地图》.

Without any further ado, let's invite the casts of Served H.O.T up on stage to share with us some exciting insights of the drama.
The cast from left to right: Shane Pow 《包勋评》, Ian Fang 《方伟杰》, Ya Hui 《雅慧》, Aloysius Pang 《冯伟衷》, Zhu Houren 《朱厚任》, Chew Chor Meng 《周初明》, 《Lee Teng 李腾》 and the host: Bryan Wong 《王禄江》.

Bryan started questioning them one by one about their views and experience when filming the drama.

Bryan posted one question to Ya Hui: Between Shane, Ian and Aloysius, which one is her idea guy?

Make a guess?
?
?
?
?

Well, her ideal guy is actually Lee Min Ho. Haha, even Chew Chor Meng knows who is Min Ho. He said: "Oh, is it the one who act in The Heirs?"

Served H.O.T was Lee Teng first major acting role. He shared his thoughts on the difference between acting and hosting.

Right after the interview session, Bryan's fans surprised him with a birthday cake. Bryan's birthday is actually on 30th January, happy advance birthday to Bryan.

While waiting for the food to be served and to watch the first episode of A Taste of History《寻味地图》, Bryan shared with us about his views on the show and the historical significance behind every dish.

A Taste of History《寻味地图》

Taste the rich flavours of traditional delicacies. Feel the deep sentiments attached to their heritage. From the past to the present, we shall let our taste buds discover and relive these fond memories.

A Taste of History ingenuously combines food with history through selected local delicacies featured in every episode, presenting their local ethnic origin and long standing heritage.

In the first episode was on the history of Former Katong where Bryan introduced Peranakan Pastries, Taw Kwa Pau and Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee. Other episodes will include Former Joo Chiat, Former Boat Quay, Former Chinatown and etc.

Tracing the source of popular local delicacies, one will realise that they contain the touch of our ancestors, including early immigrants of Singapore, and the integration of modern lifestyle and wisdom.

Wow, one day I gotta head down to the stall to try all the dishes for myself.

A Taste of History 《寻味地图》will debut on 7 Jan 2014, every Tuesday at 8.30pm on Channel U.

Here comes our 7 course dinner:

Siew Mai with Fish Roe
Braised Crabmeat Fish Maw Soup
Steam Sea Bass in Teochew Nonya Style
Swatow Kampong Chicken
Wok Fried Vegetable Deluxe
Singapore Laska
Sweet Yam Paste with Pumpkin and Gingko Nuts

I guess you already know which dish is my favourite right?

Yes, you are right. Siew Mai is my favourite, I have a soft spot for dim sum.

Served Hot《烧。卖》

‘Nanyang Delicacies’ is an established food stall on the lookout for someone special who can taste the distinctive flavour behind its signature Laksa dish. The one who has the correct answer will be rewarded with the Laksa secret recipe, worth a million dollars. Many have attempted but failed, until the day three boys in their twenties walk into the shop. Upon tasting the Laksa, they request to see the chef. From that moment on, their lives will never be the same again. Through the story of three ex-convicts and their entrepreneurial spirit and pursuit of love, the drama uncovers the heritage, secret ingredients and touching stories behind Singapore’s favourite local delicacies. Combining the modern with the traditional, new flavours and recipes are created.

Credits to Channel U for the photo.

The three guys are buddies. They fought together, went to jail together, were released from prison together, opened a shop together, and pursued their happiness together… They called themselves H.O.T.

Ever dream of being a chef?
See how these youngsters relight that fire in their hearts and cook a good dish out.
Served Hot is a pretty entertaining and meaningful show that is worth watching.

Served H.O.T. 《烧。卖》premieres on 10 Jan 2014, Monday - Friday at 10pm on Channel U.

After the dinner, we had a mini game played with the artistes. It's popiah making competition. The artistes were being assigned to three tables each to wrap a popiah. The group with the nicest popiah wrap will win the game.

Ya Hui was being assigned to our table.

See the nice popiah that Ya Hui has wrapped. And yes, our group won the nicest popiah title.
