The Escape Hunt‏ - Escaping a High-Tech Reality Game

Sponsored Post

Are you starting to run out of ideas on where to hang out during weekend or what to do during group outing?

Introducing you a new hangout place where you can have lots of fun playing with your friends “escape hunt” reality game:

The Escape Hunt‏.

The Escape Hunt Experience is a unique adventure based on the classic “escape the room” games now popular in many places around the world. Players are locked in a simple room with objects and feel like being inside a computer game while searching for clues and solving puzzles trying to escape.

Turn yourself into Sherlock Holmes at The Escape Hunt where you are transported back over 100 years and play the part of a famous London detective with your colleagues trying to solve a mystery set in Singapore.

The Escape Hunt‏ is a Global Live Escape Game with more than 20 branches in the world.

The games are designed by a UK mensa member, who has a Masters in Psychology from Cambridge. They are designed in multi-dimensional, and non-linear. Game play follows a strong story line and are logical, instead of random.

Upon  entering, we were being brought to the lounge area before the start of our game. The place was very cosy and vintage classic. It totally feels like we were being transported back to the world of Sherlock Holmes.

We were ready to start our game.

They have 6 rooms at Escape Hunt that is split into 3 different adventures. (Game layout will be changed every 6 months)
Each has an exciting and different theme. Each theme has an entirely different set of puzzles and codes so you can of course come back to play out other room later and still enjoy the experience equally.

There is also an option for advanced room for those who believe themselves of superior intellect – Put it to the test!

Play as a team of 2 – 5 players & choose from 3 unique games set in 6 indoor rooms.
Each game is 60 minutes per session.

One thing I like about The Escape Hunt‏ is that they do not combine groups with each other. For example, if your group only have 2 players, the room is yours exclusively. They will not combine you with other group to make it 5 players. Not only that, you will also have your own dedicated game master waiting just outside the room if you need any help.

A crime has been committed, and it is up to our group to solve it. Time to use our detective brain to work it out and solve the mystery and escape before the time is up.

At Escape Hunt, slow and steady wins the race simply don't work. To escape, you need to think on your feet - fast! Stand united as a team, or fall divided as individuals. Time is running out...

My experience:

The game was really fun. It got us cracking our brains and think out of the box to find the clues to open the lock. It is not easy to be Sherlock Holmes, we need to think deeply to piece the clues together. Nothing in the game room is placed there by chance, there is always more than meets the eye.

There is this saying - 3 brain is better then 1 brain. It requires us to work together as a team where there is more opinions and more people to share the load.

Nevertheless, we managed to escape the room with some helps from our game master.

Our adventure did not end here. After our game, there was a photo taking segment where we get dress up in Sherlock Holmes costumes.

With my partner in crime - GF.

With my awesome team.
There were also props for us to pose with too.

After which, we went over to the lounge area for a nice cup of complimentary tea and biscuits. A perfect way to end off the session to have a sip of tea and share our game experience with one another.

Though The Escape Hunt might not the cheapest among the provider, but they provide great value for money as they deliver much better games and customer service than anyone out there.

The Escape Hunt is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year with first game at 10am and last game at 8:30pm.
It is fantastic fun for all ages and ability levels giving you unforgettable memories.

Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏ @ The Star Vista (Closed)

Thai food has become more and more popular in recent years due to the wide variety of Thai dishes they offered. I am now a Thai food lover too.

Are you always looking out for good Thai food restaurant?

If yes, today I will be introducing you a good hangout place for Thai food:

Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏.

I went to the outlet at The Star Vista. Porn's brings in the concept of SEXY.THAI.FOOD where the diners can select from a variety of more than 50 scrumptious Thai street fares and the Thai drinks are also brewed fresh daily.

Do you know that Porn's Sexy Thai Food is also co-owned by the well-known Mediacorp artiste, Pornsak?

Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏ is co-owned by Pornsak and his business partner, Tuan How.

As we all know, Pornsak grew up in Thailand. Being in Singapore for so many years, Pornsak started missing his hometown food and decided to bring in the most authentic Thai food in his hometown to let everybody have a try. This is how Pornsak's Thai restaurant chain started.

Well, what does Porn's remind you of?

The first thought that came to my mind was sexual lust, but this is definitely not what Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏ means. The definition of Porn's actually means "blessing" and "good wishes" in Thai.

Upon entering, the lively colour of the restaurant ambience cheers me up.

The setting is so much different from the other Thai restaurant that I went to. Usually Thai restaurant will have very authentic setting with the monuments or statues displayed in it. But at Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏, you will not find anything like that. Instead, this Thai restaurant‏ has a very colourful setting that brings out a cheeky and playful concept. It totally suits the name of Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏.

I was pondering on choosing the drink and the staff immediately recommended me their signature drink, Roselle Drink.

This is one of the most popular herbal drink in Thailand. This is refreshing drink that is best served when it is chilled, it immediately eased my thirst.

Get ready for a feast.

I started my meal with Green Mango Salad ($7.90).

The salad was made up of Thai green mango, roasted peanuts, crunchy shrimps tossed together with a palette of Thai spices.

The salad was very appetising and I could taste a fusion of flavours in it. It tasted sweet, sour and mild spicy. The mango salad has spiced up my appetite.

Tom Yum Prawn Soup- Clear Soup Base ($10.90 / $13.90)

The Tom Yum soup was available in 2 different soup base - Red / Clear.

At the look at it, it may look at some bland seafood soup. Do not be deceive by it, the tom yum soup was flavoursome. Being teamed up with chili and lemongrass, it was infused with hot and sour flavour, giving the soup a distinct taste.

After finishing the small soup of tom yum soup, I could feel the burning sensation down my throat. Totally awesome.

The soup was filled with generous fresh ingredients.
The soup at Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏ are cooked one bowl at a time. This ensures the freshness of the ingredients and boost the flavour of the soup.

Stir-fried Kang Kong ($7.90).

The kang kong was fried swiftly with cloves of garlic, salted beans and chopped chili. This is a very popular vegetable dishes that is served in Asian cuisines. My favourite veggie.

Thai Prawn Cake ($8.90).

The prawn cake was fried to perfection and I enjoyed the crispy outer layer. The prawn cake was well seasoned with pepper in it, bringing out the enhanced flavour of the dish. It was accompanied with Thai chili sauce which gave a sweet and hot flavouring to the prawn cake.

Helping myself to more of it.

Pad Thai ($9.90)

A popular Thai rice noodle dish served with seafood, great to eat with a squeeze of lime, fish sauce, chili flakes, ground peanuts and sugar.

The best part is you can even control the flavour of the Pad Thai. For example, if you prefer sweet tasting, then you just mix the sugar with your Pad Thai. If you prefer spicy flavour, then you just go for the chili flakes.

For me, I want a fusion of everything so I had the garnishes all mixed.

Kai Pin was in-charge of mixing the garnishes together.

Pad Thai is a must try at Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏.
The noodle was soft and chewy. I got my desired flavour which combined sweet, sour and hot together. My tongue was feeling hot after eating it, do have a glass of drink to stand by at your side.

We ended off our meal with Sticky Rice with Mango ($8.50).

A very classic Thai dessert. The sticky rice tasted delicious with coconut milk soaked on it.

Complement the sticky rice with mango.
Indulging myself in the delectable treat. The mango was sweet and juicy. Each bite tasted so good, it made me want to go for more.

Well, I had a really sumptuous meal at Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏. Thanks Tuan How for hosting and being so patient in explaining all the details to us. We had an enjoyable time at the restaurant.

If you are looking for a nice place with good Thai food and relaxing ambience, Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏ is the place for you.

Currently, Porn's Sexy Thai Food‏ has 4 outlets in Singapore located at Liang Seah Street, Mount Faber SAFRA, Junction 10 and The Star Vista.

City Square Mall's Food Trail: Paddington House of Pancakes

2nd stop: Paddington House of Pancakes

Located at level 2 of City Square Mall is Paddington House of Pancakes (PHOP), the world of pancake.
If you love anything about pancake, this is the place for you. PHOP serves authentic pancake from all around the world.

Initially before heading down, I thought it is a place where people go for dessert where it serves only desserts like pancake with ice-cream etc. But when I was at PHOP, I was awed by their wide variety of menu with more than 100 dishes, it was totally different from what I think. Ranging from appetizer to main course to dessert, they have everything you can think of.

City Square Mall is the only outlet for Paddington House of Pancakes.
The place is spacious and has a peaceful ambience, it's a very nice place to hang out with good friends to have a good meal and chatting away.

Here were the dishes we tried that night:

Hot red velvet chocolate with marshmallows ($7)

The drink has a rich taste of coca and the mini marshmallows literally melt in my mouth.

Summer berries yoghurt smoothie ($7)

A very refreshing drink that will cool us down during hot weather.

Kiwi lime and lychee ($5)

Yet another refreshing drink that is good for cleansing. The lime helps to boost the overall flavour of the drink that stimulate one's appetite. There was a well balance of sweet and sourness that makes me want to drink it all.

Salsa taco salad ($14)

We started our meal with Salsa Taco Salad, an enticing healthy dish with lettuce, tomato and egg that is placed in a crispy taco bowl made from pancake.

Vienna pannekoek ($13)

Are you a lover of traditional flat pancake?
Vienna pannekoek is made of flat pancake that is similar to crepe. It is toppled with lots of toppings like sausages and onions. Very pizza-like.

Nice $16

As the name suggested, you know this dish is really nice.
The chicken grilled mozzarella, chicken bacon, mushrooms, prawns, pineapple was wrapped with crepe and creamy mushroom sauce.

The chicken was well-grilled and the combination of it was simply great.

Aussie burger chicken ($16)

The puffins with homemade chicken pattie, onions, pineapple rings, gherkins, tomaoes, grilled cheddar, sunny side up egg & fries.

The sunny side up egg was cooked to perfection with the thick runny egg yolk in it. And if you burst the egg yolk with a fork, you will find the runny yolk came flowing out.

Every dish served fascinate us. I didn't know that pancake can be served in so many forms.

Time for dessert:

Hot blintzes with banana, cheese and peanut butter ($13)

The crepe was filled with banana slices together with cheese and peanut butter. Love it with it is accompanied with ice-cream. I simply love ice-cream so much.

Big treasure box ($15)

It was indeed a big treasure box with ice-cream, strawberry, banana, mini dollar pancake, nuts and raisins.
You can enjoy the fruits and sweet savoury all at the same time.

Tiramisu Sundae ($8)

The sundae was filled with warm mini dollar pancake in it.
The pancake was very fluffy in the inner and coated with the tiramisu sundae, it tasted sweet to perfection.

We had an enjoyable meal to end off our Wednesday night.
PHOP has also launched new fondue flavours - chocolate, butterscotch, salted butter caramel, red velvet and white chocolate. Be sure to try it.

Thanks PHOP for having us. I will make a visit back again to try more other varieties, all of them look so delicious.

I embarked on a food trail at City Square Mall to Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant and Paddington House of Pancakes. Follow me to find out my dining experience at the food trail.

1st stop: Momiji Japanese Buffet Restaurant

Located at level 5 of the mall was Momiji, a Japanese-themed buffet. The restaurant provides over 150 culinary selections such as Sashimi, Sushi, Cold seafood, Paper Steamboat, Teppanyaki and many more.

Momiji served a wide range of sushi, you can get endless flow of your favourite sushi.

I like the yakitori, the grilled skewered chicken was coated with Teriyaki-like sauce. It is delicious.

There is an array of hot food counters including a “fry-to-order” counter, “live” teppanyaki station and piping hot paper steamboat.

The fried and cooked section.
The food must have placed here for quite awhile because the chicken katsu and tempura was cold and hard.

Here's what we were having:

Sashimi and sushi are definitely the more popular choice over here.

Seafood lovers will also get to enjoy the unlimited servings of snow crab legs.

Another favourite selection of mine - Chawanmushi. One was prawn topping, the other was mushroom.

The buffet price also includes free flow of beverages. I decided to go for iced fuji apple berries.

Attention alcoholic lovers, you will get to enjoy free flow of Sapporo beer from 6.30pm to 7.30pm daily.

After finishing with our meal time to move on to the fruits and dessert.

The dessert bar features a range of Japanese mochi sweets and cakes. I was being spoilt by the wide variety of dessert.

I was particularly attracted by strawberry shortcake. My all-time favourite.

And here is the best deal: Momiji served Häagen-Dazs ice-cream.
I wouldn't mind paying the price and come here enjoy the free-flow of ice-cream.

I have grabbed a little bit of the 4 flavours for trying - Green Tea, Rum & Raisin, Macadamia and Belgium Chocolate.

I guess you could already tell my favourite flavour of ice-cream. It's Belgium Chocolate, I got myself a bigger scoop for that.

Momiji is the place for you if you are those who have a huge appetite or want to try a little of everything. It is definitely value for money as we could have unlimited servings of all the food here.
