Spent my Thursday afternoon in Suntec City for a movie. This is my first time watching at the new Golden Village @ Suntec City. It is located beside the Alive Museum.

We went for the movie Annie, a musical comedy movie, that was released on the day.

Cast: Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis, Rose Byrne
Director: Will Gluck
Release Date: 18/12/2014
Running Time: 118 minutes
My rating: 3/5

Movie Trailer.

Synopsis
Annie (Quvenzhan√© Wallis), a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

The movie started off with Annie's every Friday routine of waiting outside the cafe, hoping that your biological parent would come back to look for her. But every time, her efforts went down the drain.

Despite that, Annie still remained positive and continued her life with the other foster girls.
She has the character that I admired of - strong perseverance and positive attitude.

Will Stacks, one of the candidate for mayor election. He was trying his way to improve his image so as to gain votes from the citizen.

You can expect some hilarious scene from him.

Stack saved Annie's lives coincidentally and this has helped him to gain some votes. In order to gain more votes, Stack adopted Annie and become her guardian.

As time passed, they started to get closer from stranger to real family. It was heart-warming watching the movie. The plot was good. I enjoyed watching it except for one point, I felt overloaded by the songs. As this is a musical movie, the cast will sing songs on and off (similar to High School Musical). Other than that, everything was good.

  2. It's not a perfect movie, but for as long as it is up on the screen, it's an okay watch. Can't say I expected much else. Good review Valerie.
