Happenings in June - Swensen's + The White Button + Angelina Singapore

Sunday 25/6/17

It's been a long while since I last met KP out for food and shopping. Since I was free during the weekend, I asked KP out and treat her to a belated birthday lunch at Swensen's. We went to the outlet at Bugis Junction.

I ordered Swensen's ultimate chicken burger while KP ordered fish n chips. We shared the main course with each other so that we get to try both.

Swensen's ultimate chicken burger comes with juicy breaded fried chicken, drizzled generously with creamy sauce and jackfruit salsa. I love this chicken burger. The breaded fried chicken contained a slight crispy texture when bite it, revealing the tender meat in it.

Happy belated birthday, hope you enjoyed the birthday treat.
After the hearty lunch, we went strolling and shopping. Both of us got ourselves an outfit during the shopping. So happy when comes to shopping, especially when we did not go back empty handed.

There was exhibition going on at Bugis Junction Atrium, so we went to take a look at some of the art piece too.

Weather is so humid, after we finished shopping, we stopped by McDonald to have ice cream to cool ourselves down. We tried the vanilla and banana mix cone. Banana flavour is not to our liking. Thanks KP for the ice cream treat.

Monday 26/6/17

Finally bf was back from his trip, it has been a week since we met. A week seems so long. Just nice today is an off day for Hari Raya Puasa, we get to meet up with each other for a date. We went to Orchard for a walk.

We went Honeymoon Dessert.
I have my all-time favourite Black pearl in vanilla sauce with blueberry ice cream while bf has the durian in vanilla sauce. I always ordered the same thing, the only different was the ice cream. Sometimes I will choose the green tea ice cream instead of blueberry. Still, blueberry ice cream tasted the best.

Dinner was at The White Button @ Orchard Central, a casual dining place that we chanced upon when exploring Orchard Central. It was tucked at the corner of level 8. They served comfort food at affordable prices.

We ordered the dinner set that comes with a drink and creamy mushroom soup served with garlic bread.

For my main course, I have Classic Carbonara. The spaghetti was tossed with creamy bacon sauce. Creamy spaghetti tasted delicious at the first instant. After eating for awhile, I started to get sick of the taste. Creamy stuff made me feel full very fast, but I still like ordering it.

Friday 30/6/17

Lunch has always been a lavish one when comes to Friday, it's like a celebration to welcome the weekend and pampered ourselves with a good meal. We went over to Capitol Piazza for lunch.

We settled ourselves at Angelina Singapore for lunch. Angelina is a famed tearoom and pâtisserie from Paris known for its delicatessen and rich heritage. Besides that, Angelina also offers dining menu comprising of French classics.

This restaurant has a second storey to cater for more guests, the interior has the same Parisian elegance that makes it look posh.

Our lunch set comes with 3 course dining.
First was the soup of the day which was tasty.

Our main course - Chicken and duck ragout pasta with Parmesan cheese.
Not too bad in my opinion.

We ended off our lunch with a pot of tea. I have chosen mont blanc tea. It contains the flavours of candied chestnut and maple syrup in a cup of sweet and warm tea, defusing orange blossom and toffee aromas of this delicious tea.

Dinner was also a sumptuous one at Hifumi Japanese Restaurant. A delicious ending to June and looking forward to welcome July. We can't wait for July to be here with overseas trip and my birthday month approaching.

I have Chicken Oyakoni set.
I preferred the pork cutlet set to this.

By the time we finished the soft serve ice cream, we were so full. We tried to clear all the food taken we have taken, leaving us bloated when we left the restaurant.

After the dinner, we took a stroll by the bay to admire the cityline of Singapore. So glamorous to look at, but sometimes it's also a place we feel suffocated to live in. We yearn for a getaway to recharge.

We love Friday moment like that, eat and stroll around, just the 2 of us.

Happenings in June - Sentosa + Father's Day Dinner

Friday 16/6/17

Today was GH's last day, we decided to go Liang Court for a sumptuous meal to celebrate for him. We went Tampopo for our lunch.

Upon seeing Nick ordered this, we followed the same. We ordered the top grade Black Pig Tonkatsu set where original price was about $31. Since it was Great Singapore Sale period, this set was having 50% discount. So we paid about $16++ for the top grade black pig.

The tonkatsu was fried until so crispy on the outside and succulent in the inner. This was so different from the usual tonakatsu I have. The meat was delectable, no wonder it was price as top grade.

In the night, GF, Tracy and Claressa met up for anti-drug abuse campaign 2017 Break In! Music Concert held at Suntec City Convention Centre. The concert was jointly organised by The National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) to promote a drug free Singapore, while creating opportunities for locals to showcase their talents and further their passion.

Local music artistes featured in the concert are Taufik Batisah, iNCH, Scarlet Avenue, THELIONCITYBOY and The Sam Willows.

Saturday 17/6/17

Hello Saturday. I love Saturday because it is our dating day, a day we can hang out together heading outdoor as we don't really went out on Sunday.

I want to look something different today so I just change my hairdo a bit and it gave a sweet looking finish.

We have oreo ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. I love their ice cream because it was smooth and rich. Having ice cream just bring me to a happy mood.

After the dessert, it's time to take a walk to burn our calories.

We love going to places that can let us be away from the hustle and bustle. It made us feel like we were on a holiday.

We went Menya Musashi for dinner.
I decided to try out their spicy soup base for the first time, I always order the white soup base but i want to try something different today. The red soup base was spicy yet savoury, my mouth was burst into fire.

Got myself a new top which I intending to wear for my Hong Kong trip. I love the street style look. Suitable outfit for a casual outing, I love wearing shorts and funky shirt when it comes to casual outfit.

Sunday 18/6/17

Today was Father's Day, I decided to treat my family for a dinner and mummy suggested to go Choa Chu Kang for their zi char. She loves the fish soup there. To satisfy her cravings, we traveled to the west for Father's Day dinner. It was nearly 8pm when we reached and we waited awhile before food was served.

Mummy loved this fish soup. The soup was tasty with milk added, perfect for rainy day as it warmed our stomach up. We can ask for refill of the soup once we finished it.

The salted egg pork rib was succulent with the creaminess of the salted egg sauce, enhancing the fragrance and taste of the pork rib.

Some of the dishes we ate includes prawn rolls and prawn paste chicken. We were shocked by the portion of prawn paste chicken that Mummy has ordered. The deep fried chicken wings have a very crispy exterior and tender meat in it.

The dinner bill was $123. The dinner was supposed to be on me where I treat the family for the meal, but dad went to foot the bill instead. Awww.

Since my cousin was staying just a few blocks away from the food court. We went to his house for a visit after the dinner. It was my first time to my cousin's new home and seeing Latte too.

Meet Latte, Pomeranian dog breed.
Latte looked so different now because it just got haircut. It still looked so cute and will come to you if you have treat treat for him.

Friday 23/6/17

Welcome our T.G.I.F with Tampopo @ Liang Court again. Now is the period to visit Tampopo because of the GSS promotion. This time round, I decided to go for their ramen.

I had black pig shabu ramen and I loved it so much.
The broth was tasty with the chili powder added, every mouthful tasted savoury delicious. The bowl of ramen also come with generous amount of black pig shabu in it.

This sums up my happening updates, stay tuned for more.

Happenings in June - Dessert Story + TungLok Signatures + Mariners' Corner Restaurant

Thursday 1/6/17

Began my June with a dinner catch up with GF. We usually have our meet up over lunch which was a bit too short for us since we only have an hour. This time round, we met up for dinner which allow us to have ample time to catch up.

We have our dinner at Xin Wang Hong Kong Café situated at HarbourFront Centre. This is a good place for casual dining and not too crowded. We could sat there for hours to chit chat.

I ordered the set meal that comes with a glass of ice lemon drink, soup of the day and a main course.

Here's what I have for my main course.

Thanks GF for getting me some souvenirs from her Tokyo trip. We also shared with each other about our upcoming trip and our overseas trip experience. We always enjoyed each other company because we can relate many things together and have neverending topics to share. Let's have another round of dinner soon.

Friday 2/6/17

Finally it's Friday again, weekend is approaching. It has sort of been a mandatory for us to eat out for lunch during Friday, to have a sumptuous affair to welcome the weekend. We have our lunch at Aston which offers a variety of side dishes to go with different variety of meat.

My choice of selection: Char grilled chicken with potato salad and onion rings at $9.90 net. No GST and service charge.

I have a bad afternoon that day that make me feel I am not suitable in the position that I am at. At that moment, I really regretted not taking the chance to try out something different. I should go for what really suit me and what I am good at instead of what others think will be good.

I ended my day with something sweet to sweeten up my unhappy day. I tried out Dessert Story for the first time, a place for people to enjoy wholesome oriental desserts.

I ordered Peanut Ice Cream Roll at $3.50, a famous dessert in Taiwan.
The ice cream was wrapped in a popiah skin together with peanut bits. The exterior was very soft so be careful when you eat, if not all the bits and ice cream will dropped out, making it messy to eat. The  popiah skin was soaked with the ice cream, tasted so delicious.

We also tried the milk pudding cendol at $5.50. I love the milky sweetness of the coconut cream and gula melaka.

Hope next week will be a better week ahead.

Monday 5/6/17

A blue Monday. Dreadful for the discussion later on. Nevertheless, we have a sumptuous lunch at TungLok Signatures. Each of us have a 6 course individual lunch set and my lunch cost about $56. The lunch was also to farewell GH so we treated him for the lunch. That explained why my lunch was so costly too.

We have the Deep-fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk and Fresh Fruits.
The prawn was great but one wasn't enough for me.

Dumpling soup was delicious and soothing.

Steamed Sliced Australian Barramundi with Preserved Vegetables. We don't really enjoy it because it has this translucent sticky sticky substance in the meat.
The dessert was Osmanthus Jelly.

Test tube drink to end off our lunch.
All the best GH for future endeavour. Hope you new workplace will be a better place for you to strike even better.

The question popped out to me again and I have 2 days for consideration. I think I know what to do this time round.

Wednesday 7/6/17

We went back to Nana Green Tea for lunch today, one of the frequent place we visited for lunch.
Usually I always ordered the same thing whenever I came here so I decided to try something different today.

I tried on Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice. The portion might seem lesser compared to Chicken Nanban as the other comes with potato salad and veggie, but I still feel full after finishing it.

The timeline is up, this time round, I decided to go for it. No matter good or bad, I really want to have a change.

Saturday 10/6/17

We made our way down to City Hall to check out the various money changer stalls to compare the rates and chose the best rate to change our Hong Kong currency. We will be going to Hong Kong in another month time and already sort of got our itinerary planned. Now what's left is just to wait for the day to arrive. So excited.

Feeling hungry since I only had brunch earlier on, we went for early dinner at 5pm at Just Acia. I have cravings for their wide variety of ice cream flavours.

While waiting for our main course, we shared a cup of chocolate and vanilla soft serve mix.

I have my all-time favourite crispy chicken rice where I just love crispy chicken so much. Simple and comforting.

Taro, green tea and strawberry ice cream.
Of all, I love taro flavour the most. Super delicious and addictive.

We have been running out of places to go during weekend, so we always went to our regular hangout places to just walk around.

Sunday 11/6/17

Today was a relaxing day for us as we just lazed at home until dinner time. It's been awhile since we just spent our time at home, I think since my exam period last month. It's nice to do nothing once in awhile.

Since Father's Day is approaching next week, we brought bf's family out for a zichar dinner at nearby coffeeshop. Spending quality time with family is also important and should not be neglected. Aiming to spend time on that too.

Tuesday 13/6/17

We went Aston again for the second time in the month of June, we love coming here for the western food because it tasted good and the price is quite valuable at $9.90.

Once I like something, I always ordered the same time. Char grilled chicken and onion rings had become like my fix selection. The only item changing was the other side dish. This time round, I opt for mashed potato. I like this combination and I foresee ordering this selection again.

We went to try the new Starbucks Frappuccino that was having 1 for 1 promotion - Matcha Earl Grey Jelly Frappuccino. Earl Grey tea is transformed into a delightful jelly layer that filled the bottom of the drink and finished with Matcha powder. The drink was very tasty and a rich indulgence.

Wednesday 14/6/17

We discovered a new dining place located at Cantonment Road that serve quality food at decent pricing. Best to come here during weekdays lunch hour because they have set lunch promotion.

Mariners' Corner Restaurant is a well-known hang out area and dining place for sailors. The restaurant has a very cozy setting with sailor theme that make it a perfect place for chill out.

I ordered the lunch set at $11.90++ that consist of a soup, main course, drink and dessert of the day.

First up, we have soup of the day and garlic bread.
I love dipping the garlic bread into the soup to soak up the flavour of the soup. It tasted delicious eating it this way.

I have grilled dory fish as my main course. The fish stayed moist and retained its tenderness. I enjoyed every bite of it.

A cup of tea and cake to end off my meal.

I personally find that the food served here are pretty similar to the concept of Jack's Place. In term of valuable meal and portion size, Mariners' Corner Restaurant definitely stand ahead of Jack's Place.

I always prefer tea over coffee.
The taste of the tea was just nice with milk and sugar added. I liked to have a smell of the aromatic tea before drinking it.

With this, I end my night here. Good night.
