7 Places to Eat in Clarke Quay Central

Clarke Quay Central is not just a place that only come alive at night. During the day, it is filled with people who come over to the mall for lunch. They have over 25 restaurants for us to embark on a gastronomical trail. Let me share with you some of the places that you can dine in.

1. Ramen Champion (Closed)

This is the third outlet of Ramen Champion. The residency of the stalls is determined by a competitive & friendly customer voting system. Through the competition, it brings the flavours from the different regions of Japan to Singapore.

Instead of ramen, I have Karaage Chicken Curry Rice at $12.90++.
The Karaage Chicken gave a good crunch to the texture and the curry gave a kick to the flavour, making every mouth so yummy.

2. Seoul Yummy (Closed)

Seoul Yummy is a casual dining place that provides exceptional Korean food, service, and experience.

We went during lunch time and their set lunch comes with a set of side dishes.

Seoul Yummy has introduced the cookhouse menu set lunch at $9.90++.
It reminisced the good gold days back in the army/uniform groups where the folks have their meal on mess trays. There are a total of 6 set to choose from: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo & Foxtrot.
The set that I was having is Bravo which comes with spicy chicken slices and gyoza.

3. TungLok Signatures

TungLok Signatures offers a tantalising range of traditional Chinese cuisine, such as Cantonese, Shanghainese and Sichuan dishes. We will come here once in a while for their dim sum.

Their porridge is something we always ordered, it was nice and fragrant.

Price here is on a steeper side, be prepare about $25 to $50 per pax when you dine here.
It made me miss Hong Kong where we can have same standard but cheaper price for dim sum.

4. Jia Xiang Sarawak Kuching Kolo Mee (Closed)

Kolo Mee is one of the famous noodles in Sarawak where the noodles are tossed in a special transparent sauce.

I have Smoked Duck Kolo Mee at $7.50.
The smoked duck was soft and chewy, it also has good balance of meat and fats. Other than smoked duck kolo mee, they have other selection available too.

5. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

What I like about their ramen is definitely the flavourful soup that makes me want to sip till the last drop.

Santouka's soup is made by hand from scratch at all their restaurants. They use minimal salt and artificial seasonings, strictly following their motto of ‘Family friendly, delicious, and healthy ramen.’ We can safely consume the whole bowl of ramen without any worries.

I always have Shoyu ramen (small) whenever I am here, I prefer the stronger and fragrant flavour of the broth. The broth was so tasty that I nearly finished the broth. The price for small bowl is $12.50++.

Be sure to reach early as seats are limited.

6. Astons Specialities

Started off from a coffeeshop, Astons has now has moved and established inside shopping mall with quality and affordable pricing. I like dining at Astons because it is value for money.

Recently Aston has raised the price up by $1 more to $10.90 for grilled chicken with 2 side dishes.
I always go for standard sauce of chicken and side dishes when I found the combination I like. I'm such a boring person right?

7. Sunny Japanese (Closed)

Tuck under the basement of Clarke Quay Central is Sunny Japanese, an eatery that sells wallet friendly Japanese cuisine at very affordable price. They have a wide range of items that we can choose from, ranging from rice bento, curry rice, omelette rice, ramen and udon.

I ordered the Chicken Karaage with ramen at $4.90.
The ramen was like Chinese style ban mian, not the usual Japanese ramen. But for the price paid, I felt that overall the food was still okay.

I love their Chicken Karaage, it was crispy and delicious when dipped with mayonnaise.
A simple and satisfying lunch.

Happenings in February - Beans & Cream + Chinese New Year 2018 + Chingay Parade

Monday 5/2/18

Today we met up with GH for lunch at Plaza Singapura, we decided to pick on Nando's because it has been a long while since we last have that.

Nando's offered PERi-fect weekdays lunch promotion. I have grilled juicy chicken tenders in a special PERi-PERi and garlic sauce, served with Mediterranean Rice. The cost was $8.90++ with bottomless soft drink.

Saturday 10/2/18

Today was a relaxing day for us where we just lazed around in an ice cream parlour for dessert in the afternoon and met up with friends at night for dinner.

We went to Beans & Cream to try out their waffle with ice cream. Beans & Cream is a neighbourhood ice cream parlour located near Bukit Gombak MRT station. It is located just below one of the housing estates and about 7 to 8 walking distance from MRT station.

We have Waffle with Cookie & Cream Ice Cream at $6.50.
The waffle was delicious and crispy, it was a perfect dessert to have with a perfect combination of hot waffle and cold ice cream.

Beans & Cream is a cozy corner for a great get-together. The only downside is that there only have 3 tables in it, so there is a limited capacity that the parlour can take.

Thursday 15/2/18

Hooray, it's CNY week. It's a long weekend for most of us where we can have a rest for 3.5 days. Most of us are working or studying half day on Chinese New Year Eve.

This year, we are ushering the Year of the Dog, the eleventh of all zodiac animals.
I was back home in the afternoon to prep for tonight's reunion dinner.

The yummy food prepared by mummy since afternoon. As the table can't fit the 15 of us (excluding 3 children), we split into 2 rounds for food and started my dinner at 5.30pm. CNY is the period for sumptuous feast.

Amber looked so cute with her hair tie up. She was still crawling on the floor when she was here last year, now she could walk freely to where she want to go. Kids grow up so fast.

We headed out to Marina Square at about 9pm for CNY countdown.
We went to McDonald for dessert and have my all-time favourite OReo McFlurry. Upon cravings satisfied, we slowly made our way to The Float for River Hongbao.

River Hongbao 2018 is an eleven-day extravaganza of lights, sights, and sounds happening at The Float @ Marina Bay). The highlights of the carnival includes fireworks, cultural performances, food street and interactive fringe activities.

This year's theme showcased “An Endearing Home for One and All”, promoting  an endearing and inclusive society.

Happy Dog Year.
One of the main highlight is definitely the gigantic God of Fortune, towering at a height of 18m. Everyone wants a photo of the 财神爷.

We then went to the food street to get ourselves some bites as I was feeling hungry. We got Japanese Salmon Pizza at $3.

We also got my favourite Twister Potato. This was so much better than the one I had in Taiwan.

The Japanese Pizza was really good, it a bit like egg omelette. Every bite was filled with eggy goodness. The sauce coated made it tasted even sweet and delicious.

We reached the place on time and waited patiently for the firework.

As the clock strikes 12, the firework began to light up the sky.
Happy Lunar New Year to everyone.

Friday 16/2/18

Happy CNY!

Krislyn has transformed into a Princess 格格, she looked so cute with the hair accessory on.

Another new addition, Robbie. He looked so cute in the traditional costume.
This year, there are 2 new additions to our family. Next CNY, there will be another 2 more joining. Our family tree are getting bigger with all the kids joining in. We have reached another stage of life where more of my cousins are becoming the parenting groups.

Instead of our yearly steamboat affair, we changed it to buffet catering this year. Catering during festive is definitely pricey but at least mummy don't need to prepare the steamboat ingredients and clean up the kitchen. Having catering is a fuss free choice and everybody can eat at the same time.

Sunday 18/2/18

The third day of CNY was spent with my friends for a steamboat gathering at Ryden and Jasmine's place. We always make it a point to celebrate festive seasons together.

Being the first group to reach, bf and I went to help out with the preparation of food. We also got a bottle of red wine to go with the celebration.

Having baby Rena to myself, I managed to trick her into me carrying her.

With all the guests arrived, it's time to dig in to the feast.
I love gathering like this where we just keep chatting and chatting over the meal. It's not the food that matters, but the company that I am with.

We rested for nearly an hour before we start with our Lo Hei. We were too full for it.
While googling the prosperity phrases to say when pouring the ingredients, we chanced upon the cute Lo Hei display setting of a doggie. We decided to try creating our own too.

Oops, I think our end product looked quite fail.

Change of idea, we covered up our mess with the golden crackers and sauces.
This was my 3rd Lo Hei and a must to have during CNY, it symbolizes good fortune at the start of the lunar new year.

Thanks Ryden for helping us with the group photo.
I felt so blessed to know these brunch of awesome friends. May 2018 be a smooth sailing and great year for us. Huat ah!

With evening approaching, it was time to bid good bye. Thanks Ryden and Jasmine for the great hospitality, it was a great gathering. Hope to see you guys soon again.

We went back home for yet another round of steamboat session.

Thursday 22/2/18

Today is the seventh day of lunar new year, it is also known as Renri, the day human beings were created. We went out for a sumptuous lunch at Crystal Jade @ Plaza Singapura to celebrate this occasion.

My fourth Lo Hei of the year, this year will be blessed with lots of good fortune. Huat ah!!!!
We were the nosiest table in the restaurant and our table was a mess after the Lo Hei.

Some of the dim sum spread we have.
The cost added up to $30++ per pax.

Friday 23/2/18

Oh yes, weekend is coming. I always look forward to Friday because it symbolizes the start of our weekend.

I went to VivoCity in the evening to meet bf for dinner.
We have Texas Chicken for dinner, bf loves their 2 piece chicken the best.

While I opt for their burger that comes with a crispy and juicy patty. I loved the crispy batter, it was really a huge patty that make me feel full by just eating the burger itself.

Saturday 24/2/18

Took a break from my school assignment and headed out for Chingay Parade. It was held during CNY period, showing dancing dragons, prancing lions, stilt walkers, performers of different races in their traditional costumes and many more. It was my second time watching Chingay Parade.

The parade started at 8pm and the guests began to take their seat.
This year's theme was 'Cultural Funtasy' which highlighted our rich multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan cultures.

The parade kickstarted with the cultural and dragon dance troupe coming in together with the fanciful vehicles with our Guest of Honour boarded. The Guest of Honour was none other than our president, Madam Halimah Yacob and her husband.

It was a night of dazzling extravaganza of colours and performances showing cultural diversity.
It showcased performances of different cultures of Singapore and the world. Through Chingay, there are no barriers among us, we celebrated the occasion together as one.

This year's Chingay Parade also featured the longest dragon dance ever.

The last performing group.

Being seated at the top second row, I was treated to a magnificent firework performance. It was so beautiful and stunning.

Thanks GF for giving us the tickets for the show.

Happenings in January & February - The Wine Company

Thursday 25/1/18

Hello everybody. I'm back from my Taiwan trip. I already miss traveling again, my next overseas trip is probably end of the year. Many months of waiting to go.

I bought some snacks from Taiwan to share with my family and colleagues. All these were purchased in Ximending except for the Bamboo Shoot Biscuit, which was purchased in Taichung.

We went People's Park Food Centre for dinner, I decided to try Chicken Cutlet Hor Fun.
After the quick dinner, we made our way down to SGH to visit bro. Glad that he was feeling better and will be discharged tomorrow.

Friday 26/1/18

It's TGIF.
Since today is a special day, bf and I decided to skip our usual dinner at hawker centre and went Vivo City for dinner. We have our dinner at Tai Lei Loi Kei.

I have Black Pepper Sliced Pork Rice ($7.90+).
This resembled the normal zichar rice set that I always ordered.

Apart from our main course, we also ordered Polo Pork Chop Bun ($6.90+) for sharing.
The food and price are decent. The only grip is that the eatery is small, so once we finished the food, we have to make a move because queue were forming outside the eatery.

Sunday 28/1/18

Back to Bugis.
Bf and I met up with Ah Ho for dinner at Astons Specialities @ Bugis+. Yes, for both days I have been traveling to Bugis.

It was a hearty dinner with many juicy news sharing that kept us talking for hours.

Thursday 1/2/18

We traveled to City Square Mall for lunch at Pizza Hut. It's been a long while since I last have Pizza Hut. Pizza is one of my favourite food. We have the lunch set that comes with drink and soup.

I ordered my all time favourite - Hawaiian  Pan Pizza.
The pizza arrived pipping hot. I always love the pizza from Pizza Hut and their doughy crust.

Friday 2/2/18

I met up with GF for lunch at our favourite hangout place, KFC. Today's meetup was to exchange our overseas goodies we bought for each other and to discuss about her solemnization ceremony happening on this coming Sunday. Look forward to Sunday.

GF got me a hand lotion during one of her overseas trips.

I have been using it diligently.
The hand lotion has a light lemon fragrance. It protects our hands and provides radiance.

Sunday 4/2/18

Right after GF's solemnization lunch, I met up with bf for our Sunday dating. We celebrated our early Valentine's Day with a dinner at The Wine Company. We celebrated 2 weeks in advance to avoid the markup menu price for the occasion and also we won't be meeting on the actual day. I don't need a fancy dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day because it is just too commercialized, a decent dinner is all I'm looking for.

The Wine Company has a vintage interior design with their seats in blue and purple theme.

Right outside of the restaurant is the breathtaking scenery of Sentosa and HarbourFront.

You might be wondering why is it so dark in the restaurant right?
This is because The Wine Company uses minimal lighting in the restaurant and each table has a candle to light up their space.

I had Prawn Linguine for my main course. The linguine was served al dente with pesto, prawns, pine nuts and cherry tomatoes in olive oil sauce.
The linguine was well tossed and brought out the flavours while the prawns were fresh and tasty to eat on its own.

Truffle Fries for sharing.
The french fries were tossed in truffle oil where strong truffle taste lingered with every bite.

The food here was great and satisfying, we were so glad that we found this place and we will definitely be coming back again. Luck was with us when The Wine Company was having 30% discount on their main course that day.

That's all for sharing today, good bye.
