Happenings in October - A Star Is Born + The Edwards Twins Show

Friday 19/10/18

We welcome our weekend with a hearty lunch on Friday's lunch. We went to our regular makan place, Yayoi @ Liang Court.

I had Teriyaki Chicken Teishoku ($13.90++) where the chicken chop was served in teriyaki sauce. The meat was very tender and tasted flavourful together with the sauce.

Saturday 20/10/18

After FabLife event ended, Tracy, GF and I went over to North Bridge Road Market for lunch.

I opt for Bak Chor Mee. Chili was added and tossed together with the noodles, giving the noodles a spicy hint with every bites.

After our lunch, we went to Encik Tan for some girl talks which we enjoyed a lot. We chatted until it's time for us to part for our individual dates.
Headed over to VivoCity to catch a movie. Before the movie started, we went for dinner at Tai Lei Loi Kei.

I have tried on the Pork Chop Noodle previously, hence this time round, I tried on Bouncy Noodle with Chicken Chop ($7.90+). The bowl comes with a generous portion of meat which was really satisfying.

It was both our first time watching movie at Golden Village’s Gold Class cinema. Thanks DBS for the movie vouchers, I used the voucher for the movie, A Star Is Born. The theatre was a small and cosy one with only 24 seats. We enjoyed the movie sitting on Nappa leather-clad recliners with a Gold Class blanket, it was so comfortable.

A Star Is Born tells a love story of between a musician, Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), and a young singer-to-be, Ally (LAdy Gaga). She was about to give up her dream until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But as Ally's career takes off, their relationship is breaking down as Jack is battling drug and alcohol addiction.

I never know that Lady Gaga could act so well, bringing the character out. Their vocal performance was amazing, I found my new favourite duet song from the movie. It has a sad ending, two person in love can't be together and everyone was tearing. How do I know was because while I was at the toilet, all the ladies in the toilet were crying their heart out while queuing for their turn.

Monday 22/10/18

Today was yet another relaxing day at Bay Easy Garden.

We always love traveling to see the beautiful scenery that the country offers, but before I go on that trip, let's see the beautiful scenery that my country offers.

I took up water colour painting class where we learnt painting method using pigments suspended in a water-based solution.

The end product I created.
The water colour painting not really very well done, but still not too bad for beginner I guess. I love this colour combination which I mix using red and blue pigment.

Wednesday 24/10/18

I met up with GF for dinner at HarbourFront Centre before making our way to Resorts World Sentosa for a show. We took this opportunity to share with each other our upcoming staycation or trip as well as heart to heart talk. Lately, I felt that my life has been piled up with many uncertainty and insecurity, I need a listening ears to share my problems before these problems start to engulf me.

Together with Linda, we were now inside Resorts World Theatre for The Edwards Twins Show. It's been a long time since I last met Linda which was during GF's solemnization in February. Thanks GF for the tickets.

Meet the Edwards Twins, Las Vegas’ number one impersonators of all time.
Many legendary superstars come alive that night with each star singing their number 1 hits.

Thursday 25/10/18

I met up with GF again to attend a briefing. Both of us were selected for a 8 weeks campaign with SU:M37°. The briefing was held at Centennial Tower.

I have a great view of our iconic Singapore Flyer, it was a feast for our eyes. We slowly watched the view changed as the sky turned from blue to dark.

We have some light refreshment before the start of the briefing. The refreshment tasted really nice, I love the tarts especially.

Su:m37 is a naturally fermented skincare brand that contains the vitality of nature. Su:m means “to breathe” in Korean while 37 represent the optimal human body temperature. The essence that goes into every su:m37 product is derived from extract of more than 80 types of local plant varieties and maintained at a temperature of 37˚C throughout the one year. What beats letting our skin absorbed the natural ingredients and feel good from within.

My first thought about su:m37 is that it must be another raving brands because K-beauty brands have always been the best selling products in the market. Secret Essence is definitely Su:m37’s star products. Secret Essence helps to strengthen the original power of our skin, allowing our skin to wake up every day with the condensed secret energy of natural fermentation and creating silky skin texture.

Friday 26/10/18

The weekend is about to come, I have been looking forward and not so looking forward to this weekend. Looking forward because I have a long weekend as I have booked a 3D2N staycation in JB, not so looking forward because I have a presentation tomorrow where I have to present in front of 200 people.

We went to Cafe & Meal MUJI @ Plaza Singapura for lunch again. This time round, I opt for Sakura Chicken with Curry Miso and Dried Chilli (hot deli) and Smoked Duck and Honey Sesame Duo Sweet Potato Salad (cold deli).

Saturday 27/10/18

Finally comes the day for my final presentation. There were a total of 9 classes, so 9 groups will be presenting. After drawing lots, we were the third group to present. This cohort was really a competitive one, every group was out there to win and the audience kept shooting questions to the presenting group (because of participation marks). I'm glad we did it, we conquered our fear to present in front of 200 people.

Our school catered a lunch bento for us. Our class started at 9am and ended at 3.30pm.

A group photo with my team - Wee Ern, Henry, Jing Rui and I. Missing Nisha who left after the lunch and Say Loong who couldn't join us for the presentation. Good job, guys. We are finally done with the hardest module.

We have our dinner at Ajisen Ramen. We ordered the ramen set which comes with a drink and side dish, we selected Fried Gyoza and Fried White Fish.

I had Chicken Cutlet Miso Ramen ($17.90++).
Ajisen Ramen is famous for its rich pork broth which captures the essence after hours of boiling, it brought out the flavour of the broth.

Wednesday 31/10/18

I met up with Jeremy for lunch today, it's been a long time since we last have lunch together. We had lunch at our Sunny Japanese @ The Central.

I have Teriyaki Chicken Rice.
Thanks Jeremy for the lunch treat, my treat next time.

Product Review: Venna Indox Natural Fruit & Enzyme Supplement by FABLife

I'm back to continue my post on the event with FABLife. Besides understanding about Venna Rice Spa, we also learnt about Venna Indox.

Venna Indox is an natural fruit & enzyme supplement. We all know that enzymes regulate almost every chemical reaction in our bodies. However, this process may be compromised as we age or when our health ails. Hence, Venna Indox comes in handy to help live life to the fullest!

Recharge our day with nature’s best defense foods. There are ten ingredients built into Venna Indox, including apple fiber, raspberry, plum, aloe vera and wheatgrass. They aids in removing the toxic substances in our body, improving our digestive system and  build our immunity system.

This supplement is suitable for users suffering from headaches, nutritional malabsorption, constipation, hormonal imbalance and skin conditions.

Add the sachet into 200ml of water and mix well before drinking.

The end product, each of us tried a bottle of supplement drink mixed with the sachet on the spot. Consume the whole bottle in one shot, do not leave it open for too long. The taste wise was still all right and quite refreshing.

We can consume 1 to 2 sachets per day, best to consume on empty stomach in the morning and before bed during the night.

After finishing the drinks, we went up to explore the amenities provided at Southbank. Members of FABLife will be able to enjoy swimming at the infinity pool, sauna, gym and other amenities provided at Southbank.

A group photo with the ladies before we called it a day.

I received a box of Venna Indox ($48.50) for review. Each box comes with 12 sachets that can be consumed twice a day.

Each sachet contains veggie and fruit ingredients that is beneficial for our health.

Apple Fiber: Normalise and allow easier bowel movements.

Oat & Wheat Fiber: Contains beta-glucan fiber and antioxidants which reduces both total and LDL cholesterol while preventing LDL cholesterol from oxidation.

Raspberry: High in Antioxidant and known to provide benefits to cardiovascular health.

Multi-enzyme: Digestive enzymes break down larger molecules into smaller molecules for easier nutrient absorption by our body.

Wheatgrass: High in antioxidant and Vitamins A, C and E.

Pour the sachet into the water and mix well.

Being someone who does not take sufficient intake of vegetables and fruits per day, Venna Indox has act as a great supplement for me as it ensure my body have the required nutrients and regain the healthiness from within. A significant result I have seen is definitely the ease bowel movement.

Supercharge our day with nature’s best defense foods.

Beauty Review: Venna Rice Spa by FABLife

Since puberty, I have been battling with skin problems that makes my skin nowhere near perfect. Therefore, I am always on the search of beauty products to try out and see which products are suitable for my skin.

I was being introduced to FABLife recently and we visited their showroom home office at Southbank to learn more about their product range which includes Venna Rice Spa and Venna Indox.

FABLife stands for Fashion, Arts and Beauty in Life. They are specialized in skincare products, health supplement drinks, massager, clinical patch and lingerie.

A shelf of Venna Rice Spa.
Venna Rice Spa has been voted by Beauty Insider as the Best Face Saver product in 2018.

Their office was very cozy, we immediately make ourselves comfortable and at home.

Touring the second storey with CK. Stopped by for a rest and a photo. Thanks CK for the photo.

Venna Rice Spa is a 3-in-1 skincare product that helps to clean, scrub and mask our skin. It contains natural products such as oatmeal, rice enzyme and tea tree oil which have the benefits of anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and anti-bacterial properties that whitens, heals and rejuvenate our skin in 7 days.

Alice from FABLife was going through with us the product demonstration for Venna Rice Spa. It aids in combating acne, reducing wrinkles and promoting cell regeneration.

With Rice Enzyme Powder and Oat Extract, it keeps our skin rejuvenated, vibrant looking and fight the signs of ageing.

Doing a try out of Venna Rice Spa on my hand to test the texture and effect.

Time to wash off after 10 minutes.
When rinse off with water, rub the harden mask in circular motions to scrub the surrounding area clean.

A group photos with the ladies, a group photo is a must whenever we meet up.
Thanks CK for sharing the photo.

I bagged home with a pack of Venna Rice Spa ($48.50), the pack contains 9 sachets.

The pack comes with a container and brush that we can use when applying the product on our skin. Use half to one sachet per usage for our face and neck.

The benefits of  Venna Rice Spa includes the followings:

- Natural skin whitening with no chemical
- Bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and anti-sensitive
- Regenerate and reduce dead or damaged skin cells
- Reduce dull skin, spots and signs of ageing
- Diminishing of fine lines and reduction of wrinkles
- Eliminate fatigue and restore vitality
- Retain moisture and glow
- Cure acne
Maintain skin elasticity
- Replenish nutrients
- Boost cell regeneration

Time for application.

Step 1: Use the measuring cup and pour 12ml of water into it. There is a marking on the measuring cup, hence not to worry if you not sure how much is 12ml.

Step 2: Pour the rice powder in the sachet into the measuring cup filled with 12ml of water. You can pour half to 1 sachet depending on your usage. For me, I use only half a sachet which was more than enough for my usage.

Do note: 12ml of water for 1 sachet and 6ml of water for half a sachet.

Step 3: Use the brush given and mix the content well until the rice powder fully dissolved into the creamy texture.

Step 4: Apply the content and massage in circle motion like scrubbing the face (exfoliate) and then apply the remaining with a brush evenly on face, eye areas and neck.. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes to dry before rinsing off.

During the process of the mask hardening, the texture was very cooling on skin. A pampering session can be achieved at home too. The mask also released an oatmeal scent that made me feel hungry during the mask application time.

After dry,  pat wet the face, repeat the circular motions and the wash off.

After using Venna Rice Spa for just 2 days, I see improvement to my skin. I noticed that the redness on my skin has lightened and some of the red spots has become slightly smaller. My skin also looked less dull and soft. Continuous usage will definitely made my skin look even more radiant and supple.

I am going to save some sachets for use before important events.

My skin has become more hydrated after using Venna Rice Spa.

Venna Rice Spa can now be found exclusively at FabLife.

A box containing 9 sachets of Venna Rice Spa is retailing at $48.50. If you are interested in purchasing any product from FabLife, quote 'FABLEBRATE1122' to enjoy 15% off. The discount code is available until 25 November 2018.

Besides Venna Rice Spa, I also got home a box of Venna Indox: Natural Fruit & Enzyme Supplement. Stay tuned for the product review.

Citrus By The Pool Cafe @ Woodlands Swimming Complex

The north side of Singapore has now become a popular location for cafe hopping with many cafes opening up, giving cafe lovers a reason to visit the north of Singapore. We were introduced to Citrus By The Pool, a halal cafe located at Woodlands Swimming Complex.

Citrus By The Pool is a Halal-certified café restaurant that serves Western and Asian Fusion cuisine. The cafe offers a relaxing dining experience to the residents who just finish their workout or swim at Woodlands Swimming Complex or residents living nearby.

Another plus point for Citrus By The Pool is that no 10% service charged is imposed on the bill, it helps us to save up a bit.

Nothing brings people together like good food. Keep calm & enjoy eating.

This phase really best describe our agenda of meeting up, all of us gathered here for the good food. It's been a long while since my last gathering with them, miss those old good times. Thanks Tracy for the photo.

The interior of the cafe was pleasant and cozy with lights hanging from exposed wooden beams.. Despite being located inside a swimming complex, it still attract the office workers to enjoy a good and valuable meal with friends over dinner.

The cafe can seat up to 70 pax. If you are looking for place to hold your celebrations or events, Citrus By The Pool is a place to consider, children will be given access to the water playground.

Citrus By The Pool added new dishes to its menu. The additions include side dishes, burgers, milkshakes and desserts. We were one of the privilege ones to be among the first few to try their new dishes.

We tried 2 of their new Mighty Milkshakes. First up was Strawberry Gem ($8.90+).
The strawberry ice cream was blended with strawberry milk, giving an extra strawberry milky taste. It was then toppled with whipped cream, biscuit roll and ais gem biscuits. The drink definitely looked attractive and make us can't bear to drink it, it brought us back to old school days with the gem biscuit.

Thanks CK for the shot, cheers to our everlasting friendship.

The next milkshake we tried was Caramel Popcorn ($9.90). The vanilla ice cream was blended with low-fat milk and caramel sauce. It was toppled with whipped cream, followed by honey popcorn. The milkshake brought sweetness with every sip, definitely the drinks to order for people with sweet tooth. Sweet stuffs brought happiness to people.

Zoom out version of our photo taken by CK.
Cheers to 7 years of friendship with Tracy and many more years to come.

If milkshake is too sweet for your liking, you can go for their Mocktail Magic. We tried 2 of their flavours, Cool As a Cucumber ($7.90) and What a Peach! ($8.90). I preferred the latter where the peach was blended with basil seeds, giving a refreshing mint taste. We decided to go healthy too and therefore we selected cucumber mocktail.

We started off with BIG Boss Burger ($17.90) which comes in beef and mutton patty, accompanied with onions, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, purple cabbage slaw. It was smothered n satay sauce and sandwiched between the charcoal bun. Cajun fries were served alongside. Little Boss Burger ($14.90) is available for those who prefer single patty.

The fries were very addictive so we couldn't stopped ourselves from eating until the last piece. The seasoning on the fries made it taste even better. We only moved on to the burger after we finished the fries.

A pasta that will suit the taste of Asian, Dry Curry Pasta with Chicken ($11.90). The linguine with Asian curry was served with tender chicken fillets. The curry was fiery hot where the spiciness will start to grow after you swallow down the food. The chicken fillets helped to ease the spiciness of the linguine. Perfect match.

Another signature dish was Tom Yum Seafood Pasta ($13.90). The highlight for this dish was definitely the flavoursome tom yum broth that gave a good punch. The seafood was soaked well in the spicy broth, enhancing the taste with every bite. I like that this dish was less spicy than the Dry Curry Pasta which makes the spiciness more endurable for me.

The favourite pasta that our table chosen was Tobiko Pasta with Smoked Duck ($12.90). The linguine was served with sliced smoked duck, toppled with tobiko (flying fish roe) and furikake (Japanese seasoning). This combination was paired perfectly. The smoked duck has a good texture and the linguine was simply irresistible. I want a whole plate to myself.

Last main course was Cajun Lamb Rack ($21.90).
The lamb rack was drizzled with homemade brown sauce to bring out the flavour of the lamb. We need to replenish our vegetables in-take and we wiped clean all the seasonal vegetables and mashed potato. You can choose the meat preference of well done or medium well.

We ended our tasting with Molten Chocolate Lava Cake ($10.90) for our dessert. It comes with a scoop of ice cream and strawberry slices,we chose choco mint and Thai milk tea flavour. The Thai milk tea ice cream brought out the milk tea taste and the choco mint was only subtle sweet which lessen my guilty pleasure.

The rich chocolate filling started flowing out when we cut the lava cake. It was a lovely dessert to have after our dinner. We scooped the ice cream and ate it together with the lava cake, the taste was amazing.  Hot and cold combination works well together too.

Thanks Dawn and Citrus By The Pool for having us at the food tasting. It has been a wonderful session enjoying the food in the relaxing ambience.
