Happenings in October - Eat 3 Bowls + Ajisen Ramen

Saturday 1/10/22

Started to miss the food experience in Taiwan, I visited Eat 3 Bowls which serves typical Taiwanese street food.

I settled for Grass Jelly Fresh Milk, you can choose the sugar level and I opt for zero percent sugar. I like that the grass jelly brought a refreshing notes to the plain milk.

Here's what I had: Chicken Mee Sua, Salted Crispy Chicken and Sweet Potato Fries.

I like that we can choose the ingredients we want for mee sua, so I opt for Chicken Mee Sua as I don't take oysters. The broth was packed with flavours and came with generous portion of chicken slices. The texture of the mee sua was a little starchier with the mee sua being coated with the broth.

We opt for mild spicy Salted Crispy Chicken which turned out to be my favourite dish. The deep fried chicken was crispy with a slightly spicy flavour from the seasoning coated, yet the inner remained juicy and succulent. It was so addictive that I kept popping it till the last piece.

The Sweet Potato Fries was another addictive dish. It was coated with sour plum powder, bringing a familiar sour notes. I love the zesty crunch of the sweet potato fries.

The cafe has a minimalist aesthetics with white wall, wooden furnishing which provide a rustic charm and the natural light flowing in from the window. It is a great place for a casual meal but not ideal if the table besides you is occupied, as you can hear their conversation clearly.

I had Petit Breakfast ($12++) which comes with 2 slices of broiche toast, scrambled egg and chicken sausage accompanied with Japanese BBQ sauce. The broiche toast was well toasted and has a crispy exterior. The scrambled egg was fluffy and has a creamy texture, it tasted delicious without adding seasoning. The size was just right for brunch fix without feeling too full for other dishes.

Wanted to try a different broth, I had Pork Shabu Kimchi Ramen ($15.90++). I always like their pork shabu because it contained a good mix of lean meat and fats. The level of spiciness was mild which suits me.

We ordered White Fish and Chicken Cutlet which was deep-fried till golden brown for sharing while waiting for our ramen. They paired well with the sauce.

It was a nice gathering with this girl, we always had so much stuff to talk about.

Singapore

I had Nyonya Fried Rice with boneless chicken thigh, achar and a runny fried egg which I burst it open and let the yolk sipped through the fried rice. The portion of chicken thigh was generous and had a juicy bite.
