Happenings in February & March - Nando's Boneless Thigh + Us On Earth Water Essence + Gong Cha

Sunday 2/2/20

The nineth day of CNY was spent with my colleagues at H's place. It was our first time spending CNY together outside working hours. We went over to her place for a lunch gathering cum drinking session.

H ordered Yusheng from Sakae Sushi. What is CNY gathering without yusheng right?
Before pouring the ingredients, we will go through the ritual of reading out the auspicious saying for bless year ahead.

Huat ah!
This year didn't start off well, the nation is battling against the current outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). It is going to be a long battle and hope that it can end soon.

The food was from Stamford Catering, the food was seriously too much for 9 of us. We couldn't finish the food. I love the wasabi prawns and fried wanton the most.

Time for drinking session after the hearty lunch. We were each promoting one alcohol on our hands.
CNY is about spending quality time with family, friends and colleagues. Even just chilling in the house was enjoyable too.

I am not an alcohol person, so I just stick to Tiger Radler Can Beer which was more refreshing.

We stayed till nearly 6.30pm before we parted. I then hurried home to have steamboat dinner with my family and relatives. Since I was the latest to reach, my favourite ingredients were mostly gone, hence I just ate a little.

Got to spend time playing with the little ones. These kids can go really crazy playing with you. These 2 weekend has been an enjoyable one playing with them. Cherish the time playing with them before they grow up, Amber is already coming to 4 years old this year.

Friday 7/2/20

I began my weekend with a dinner date with Tracy to try out Nando's all new boneless thighs at The Star Vista outlet. We ordered 2 main course to share among us.

The fries and garlic breads made a great complement to the boneless thighs. This is a perfect creation for people like me who prefer a fuss free and effortless meal, the chicken thigh was tender and easily cut using fork and knife compared to 1/4 chicken. We also mix the different spice level of PERi-PERi sauce to create the robust flavour that we are looking for.

The summer rice bowl contains 2 boneless thighs on a bed of Spiced Rice mixed with corn, cherry tomatoes, kidney beans, and roasted pumpkin. The rice bowl carried an aromatic taste from the rich ingredients. It was love at first bite with their boneless thigh, leaving us wanting for more.

It was really nice catching up with friend for delicious meal. It has been more than a year since I last had Nando's. With the covid 19 going on, where a lot of us have been cutting down on going out. There will be more stay home days especially dorscon level had moved to orange today.

Saturday 8/2/20

My complexion has not been in a good condition lately with all the heaty snacks I had during CNY and sleep deprived. Blemishes are starting to pop out and my skin is dull looking. Thanks 0.8L Singapore for sending me Us on earth, 6 Effector Soft Marine Water Essence, which come at the perfect time to rescue my skin.

This all in one multi functional essence is originated from Korea. The botanical extract and Korean Ocean mineral Water promotes deep moisturising and repair, which are the benefits that I am looking for.

The water essence has a lovely scent. The texture of the water essence was very light and it soothed my sensitive skin when applied. My skin felt hydrated and moisturized after the application.

I always love Korean skincare products because they work well on my skin. Thanks for sending the product over.

Tuesday 3/3/20

It has been a such a long time since I last dine out and we decided to head out to Plaza Singapura for lunch at Cajun on Wheels. It was my first time trying out this halal Louisiana-style seafood restaurant.

The restaurant has a simple and casual ambience that is suitable for family, solo diners or small group dining. There is no service charge collected at Cajun on Wheels, hence we will need to go to the counter to order and collect our food. This is perfectly fine for us.

I had Fish & Chips ($10.90) where the fried fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fries on the other hand was just normal. The portion may looked very little but after finishing the whole plate, I was already 3/4 full.

I had Ice Milo to go with the meal.

We also add on Lobster Bisque which was thick and rich. Om the first sip, it tasted a little weird but after getting used to the taste, it started to become better.

Thursday 5/3/20

Finally meet up with the girls again which I have not been for 1-2 months and I received some gifts from my girls.
Meryl got me a bottle of Swisse Ultiboost Vitamin D capsule which support strong, healthy bones and teeth, calcium absorption and immune health. Just something I am lacking of, thanks Meryl for the thoughtful gift.

GF just came back from her Hokkaido trip and she got me some snacks and souvenirs. She also gave me a plushie which she got it when playing the claw machine in JB. Thanks for thinking of me during your trip.

Friday 6/3/20

T.G.I.F.
I went over to Funan Mall to meet GF and CK for dinner and drink gathering.

We had our dinner at Hawker Chan, a Michelin-star restaurant famous for their delicious soy sauce chicken rice and roast pork. This is the cheapest Michelin-star food that I ever tried, I had the signature Soya Sauce Chicken Rice at $5. It was nice and tummy filling.

After the dinner, we went over to Gong Cha for a drink.

The 3 of us got Gong Cha Strawberry Creme Brulee at $4.80, the latest creation of Gong Ca. The drink has everything I desire, at the bottom was strawberry milk with mini strawberry chunk, milk filling the middle portion, creme brulee milk foam at the top and end with caramelized layer.

We opt for 0% sugar level as the staff told us that the drink was already sweet in nature. It is hard not to fall in love with this drink, this has become my favourite drink from Gong Cha.

That's all for sharing today. Good night.

Food Review: WooW Rainbow Snow Cafe (Closed)

I began my Saturday with a visual and refreshing treat from WooW Rainbow Snow Cafe.

Woow is a dessert cafe that is located at the outdoor area of Plaza Singapura.

You can't miss the prominent store of WooW when you walk past Plaza Singapura.

WooW is opened by my local YouTuber, JianHao Tan. WooW offers rainbow shaved ice and drinks. Recently, they have also introduced WooW Eggy, Korean inspired pancake.

Althea was helping me with the ordering, thanks for asking me out.

Since WooW is located at the outdoor area, the cafe has no aircon. It can get pretty hot especially in the sunny afternoon. We need a cool treat to ease the heat.

WooW is famous for their Rainbow Snow, the shaved ice that comes in the colour of Rainbow.
The Rainbow Snow seems so pretty and photo-worthy. The rainbow colours blended well together and I love the taro ice cream among all.

The brim of the cup was filled with cereal and oreo cookies, and toppled with taro ice cream.

Each spoonful was bursting in flavour when the different flavours blended together. The shaved ice just melted in my mouth with delicious taste. This is a perfect dessert during hot and sunny day.

There are a total 7 flavours to choose from.
Among all, I have tried chicken rendang and chilli crab eggy. This is probably one of the most yummy pancake I have ever tried.

I was attracted to the unique flavour of Chilli Crab eggy, hence I wanted to try on this. It may seems small, but it was actually quite filling. I could only eat 2, both flavours were savoury good.

The sauce used was mentaiko mayo. The 2 above were Rainbow Eggy.

Guess what is inside this packaging?

It was a pair of glove when allow us to use while eating the eggy. This allow my hand to stay clean.

Every bite left me wanting for more.
The pancake was fluffy. Setting on top of the pancake was 2 running eggs which was moist and covered in mentaiko mayo. It was lastly toppled with the chilli crab ingredients. Together, the different flavours were exploding in my mouth.

It can get very messy when eating because the egg yolk will ooze out. The glove comes really handy.

Come try it out if you drop by WooW at Plaza Singapura.

National Museum of Singapore + Eighteen Chefs + Milkcow

Being a working adult in the lion city, stress is inevitable at work. Knowing how to release stress is essential to keep our body physically and mentally healthy. Therefore, it is important to strike a balance between work and life. So I always make it a point to relax myself during weekend whenever time could permit (other than having to rush school assignment or studying).

I began my Saturday with a delicious Mcdwrap from Mcdonald. It's been a long time since I last have a Mcdwrap, I missed it terribly.

Thinking of new places to explore during our weekend, we decided to embark on a museum tour. I wanted to visit all the museums in Singapore, this will keep us occupied for quite a few dates. The first place to visit in my mind was National Museum of Singapore.

I love the architecture of the museum, high ceiling and colonial structure drawn me to keep visiting the museum. The entire place looks so picture worthy. I love coming here again and again.

We then went for "We Built A Nation" exhibition at Stamford Gallery, Level 1. This is permanent galleries in National Museum of Singapore. My last visit to this gallery was way back in 2015.

The exhibition was opened in Singapore’s Golden Jubilee to reflect on our history and the contributions of the pioneer generation of leaders in the early independence years.

The exhibition showcased the story of the first ten years of independence (1965–1975) that shaped Singapore’s history and the important roles played by security and defence.

As we walked through the gallery, it brought back many childhood memories like the home we used to live in.

I also love the iconic colonial structure.

Days when I wanted to be casual and paired up with a high cut sneaker to look for chic.

Caught sight of this beautiful flower when we were on our way down from Fort Canning Park.

Since we were near The Cathay, we decided to have Eighteen Chefs for dinner.
We have ice lemon tea to clench our thirst.

I have salted egg prawn pasta.
The dish gave a summer feel with its bright colour. Every mouthful was exploded with the flavourful salted egg taste.

After dinner, we went to Milkcow to have their dessert.
They are known for their soft serve in Singapore.

Receiving a good news from GF via whatsapp about her proposal, so happy for her

We chose cookie & cream and milky cube flavour.
I love the melt in the mouth feeling whether I have ice-cream, I just can't resist them. With the chunks of cookies, it gave a balance of different texture and enrich the flavour.

I always enjoy my dates with bf, going around to explore different places and enjoying all the good food together. That gives the best feeling and a well spent day with love.

Ended my Saturday with our time spent at Singapore Flyer.
Weekend, please be here fast again.

7 Places to Eat in Plaza Singapura

Plaza Singapura is a shopping mall that I visited frequently for lunch and dinner because it is a centralised location for meetup with friends and near my work area. So I did up a post on some of the restaurants I visited in Plaza Singapura recently to share with you guys. Hope this post will be useful for you if you are looking out for places to dine in Plaza Singapura.

1. Nando's

Nando's is a Afro-Portugese cuisine, it is famous for its Peri-Peri Chicken served along with Afro-Portugese inspired side dishes.

Coming to Nando's, I always go for their  flame-grilled Peri-Peri Chicken. This is what Nando's famous for. The fresh chicken marinated for 24 hours in PERi-PERi and flame-grilled to order.

I ordered 1/4 Chicken hot flavour with 2 Regular Sides. Out of the 9 choices for regular sides, I chose PERi-PERi Wedges and garlic bread.

This portion definitely made me feel full and satisfying.
The hot spicy flavour tantalized my tastebuds, making my tongue feel shiok even with the hot flavour. The garlic bread and wedges help to ease the hotness of the chicken. I managed to finish every bites of it. This set costs $14.90++.

2. Nana's Green Tea

Nana's Green Tea is a Japanese cafe that sells Japanese green tea drinks, and also main course such as dons, udons and sushi rolls.

Nana's Green Tea is a good choice for lunch because they have everyday set lunch available even on weekend and public holiday at $13.90+. Awesome right?

The set lunch includes a main course and beverage.

I have matcha latte.
I like the rich flavour of matcha latte, it was thick and aromatic. It has a very mild bitterness accompanied the fragrant of the matcha latte. I always like matcha.

I had chicken nanban. The fried chicken was marinated with the sweet and sour nanban sauce, and toppled with tartar sauce. It was accompanied with millet rice, salad and potato.

The portion was very filling, I was bloated and left the rice unfinished. I have reached my capacity. This place is a good choice for dining for big eater.

3. Hong Kong Wonton Noodle

As the name suggested, this eatery is famous for its authentic Hong Kong’s style wonton noodles.
So here I was trying out wonton noodles. The springy thin noodles was served with wonton and dry fish soup base.

To me, I felt that the bowl of wonton noodles was a bit plain. It did not make me feel satisfying after eating. Perhaps you could add some side dishes to go with the wonton noodles.

4. Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe

Xin Wang is one of the cafes that I visited frequently. I simply love the wide variety of comfort food served ranging from tim sum, tea-time snacks to local Singapore favourites and recipes from Hong Kong and Macau cafes.

Chanced upon this valuable set dinner comprised of a drink, soup, appetizer and main course at only $8.80+.

I had fried chicken rice with egg.

We had fried ebi for appetizer.
The ebi was very crispy and served piping hot. Yet another super full and satisfying meal.

I always love dinning at Xin Wang because of the casual atmosphere and enjoying delicious meal at reasonable price. Thanks V for the dinner treat.

5. Skinny Pizza

Skinny Pizza is a restaurant that offers pasta, pizzas, salad, soups, sides and dessert. We were there during lunch time and chanced upon their lunch promotion set at $14.90+ for a choice of main, salad and drinks. Hence, we decided to give it a try.

Ice tea with lemon and green papaya.

For main course, I had aglio olio.
This was my third time to Skinny Pizza but first time trying their pasta. The aglio olio tasted pretty normal. Should have order pizza instead since they are famous for their thin crust pizza. So pizza is recommended when come to Skinny Pizza.

6. Secret Recipe

Secret Recipe is renowned for its extensive range of fine quality gourmet cakes. It has since evolved to full-service dining offering main course with comfort ambience.

I had grilled black pepper chicken.
The grill chicken was smothered with home-made black pepper sauce served together with herb rice and fresh garden salad. Secret Recipe is also having lunch promotion, I have this main course at $9.90++.

7. Swensen's

At Swensen's, they serve a wide selection of hearty food, sundaes, beverages and ice cream cakes that make us spoil for choice. Swensen’s is synonymous with sweet memories of good time spent with loved ones with all the sweet desserts.

Swensen's also offered express set lunch that comes with soup, main course, drinks and a scoop of ice-cream.

Since I was having a cough, I decided not to go for fried food and opt for aglio olio instead.
I like those thick and creamy soup. It was delicious.

I'm more of a tea lover than a coffee lover.
I always love to drink tea with milk.

Totally spoiled for choice when come to ice-cream selection, so many flavours that I wanna try but I can only choose a scoop. I have butterscotch ice-cream. The ice cream was smooth and tasted delectable. Ended my lunch with a sweet finish. I wish I could have more. So nice and tasty.
