The Magnolia @ The MiniBAR

I began my TGIF on a sweet note with F&N Magnolia ice cream indulgence at MiniBAR.

MiniBAR at Centrepoint has collaborated with F&N Magnolia Ice Cream where Instagram-worthy local desserts and signature ice cream cocktails are now introduced.

F&N Magnolia ice cream has been for generations and they are known for their tasty ice cream indulgence. Back in the 1960s, the first Magnolia Snack Bar has won the heart of many young and old Singaporeans.

50 years later, fans of Magnolia ice cream can enjoy our favourite ice cream at the new MiniBAR at Centrepoint. Fans will be spoilt for choices of elevated recipes inspired by the famous local desserts and ice cream cocktails.

We received a welcome drink upon settling down. It was Coconut Milkshake. It was a refreshing and sweet drink to cool myself from the mad rush.

I tried on Popiah Ice Cream Roll ($2.50). Consumer can choose the flavour and sauce they want. I go for coconut flavour ice cream with gula melaka sauce which blended well together. The gula melaka sauce has added sweetness to the popiah.

CK had Wafer - Single Hawker Cut ($2.50) with peppermint chocolate ice cream. A flavour that is not too sweet.

One thing I like about Magnolia @ The MiniBar is that the desserts are all affordably priced, allowing us to indulge in all the desserts without burning a hole in our pocket.

Here's Yam Ice Cream Milkshake ($3.90). A slice of pandan cake was sitting on top of the milkshake, making the milksake infused a hint of pandan taste and fragrant aroma.

My favourite among those I tried was Traditional Dessert Reimagine with Teh Terik Dinosaur ($3.90). The dessert gave me a sugar rush with the double sensation. The charcoal cone was decorated with nut crumbs on the outside which gave extra crunch when we bite, while the inside was filled with rich whip cream and a stick of teh terik ice cream.

This is definitely a dessert for the sweet tooth.
The MiniBAR presented many Instagram-worthy desserts with the nostalgic Magnolia ice cream. Bring your friends and family down to enjoy this great taste.

It felt so great seeing the girls again and we had a tantalising good time at The Magnolia @ The MiniBAR Come drop by the MiniBAR and perched a seat with a view of busy Orchard Road. It is located right outside The Centrepoint.

Burger King Striploin Steak Night

What beats welcoming the start of the week with a feast with Burger King?

Burger and beef lovers will be happy to know that Burger King has introduced a latest addition to the Ultimate Selection:
Ultimate Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger

The Ultimate Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger is only available for a limited period, do try it before it is gone. It's hard to find a full slab of striploin in a burger. It is available in Burger King from 5 June 2018 onwards, while stocks last.

The striploin steak, bursting with Burger King's signature flame-grilled flavour is toppled with the all-time favourite savoury combination of sauteed mushrooms and creamy melted Swiss cheese. They are sandwiched between a corn-dusted sourdough bun and garnished with sweet caramelised onions, fresh tomatoes and crunchy Batavia lettuce.

The Ultimate Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger value meal is served with thick cut fries and Coke Zero at the price of $11.90, you can opt to change the fries to onion rings too.

Apart from the Ultimate Striploin Steak Mushroom Swiss Burger, we were treated to a bowl of side dishes to go with our burger - nuggets, onion rings and French fries.

I love their onion rings the best. The bite size crispy onion rings got me addicted and we finished it in no time.

Burger King has also introduced Ultimate Tendercrisp Chicken Burger ($7.50 for ala carte or $8.90 for value meals).

Live up to the name of 'Ultimate Tendercrisp Chicken Burger', the chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The patty was topped with Swiss cheese, Turkey Ham, crispy Turkey Bacon, Batavia Lettuce and creamy Mayo sandwiched in between Corn Dusted Sourdough buns.

The burger was spicy good with so many ingredients filled in it. The mayo has balance out the spiciness of the chicken, giving it a hot and tangy taste.

Never say no to ice cream.
I ended the tasting with a sweet finish by having a Strawberry Sundae.

Thanks GF for bringing me to the tasting.
It was a nice catch up at Burger King @ Cineleisure.

Food Review: Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore

Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore is a nice place to chill out with friends after work for a quality dinner or drinks alongside with great live band performance.

Montreux Jazz Cafe is the latest addition to Singapore’s bustling Orchard Road corridor, shinning a spotlight at Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel. The cafe offers both indoor as well as alfresco dining. It was raining really heavily the day I went, hence indoor dining was definitely my choice.

The indoor of the cafe has a spacious and elegant setting that ensure we dine comfortably in the cosy ambiance.

Montreux Jazz Cafe was established by Claude Nobs with his passion for music and fine dining. The idea came from Montreux Jazz Festival, a yearly held music festival in Switzerland since 50 years ago, where the founder designed the cafe into a welcoming space where cuisine and music could combine in a way never seen before.

Montreux is the name of the town in Switzerland.

A quality meal and chill out session with friends is what I yearned after work.
Every night there will be live band performance too.

We started off our dinner with cocktails.
Since I was feeling good that night, I decided to order Feeling Good ($18) with the lychee juice.

While waiting for our food, we were being served with complimentary bread.
The bread tasted so good with the accompanied spread.

Here's what we have for starter: Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops ($38).

The pan seared scallop was my favourite. It was served with chicken crackling, edamame puree, lemon tarragon nage and fine herbs. The scallops tasted tender and moist. One is definitely not enough for me so I reached out for two. I love the combination of scallops and lemon tarragon together, giving it a savory flavour.

We also tried Montreux Jazz Salad ($22) which was served with Montreux Jazz Cafe prawns, avocado and sorbet.

This was my first time having the sorbet in a starter. The salad goes well with the sorbet, it has a little sour taste that added refreshing flavour to the plain salad. The prawn was fresh and tasted flavoursome when toppled sorbet on it.

For side, we had Yukon Gold Potato Mousseline ($8).

The potato mousseline was made using chopped chive, garlic confit and pure cream. The mousseline literally just melted in my mouth. It was creamy and moist. Though it looked simple, each bite taste savoury and satisfying.

For the main course, I had Quincy Jones Roast Chicken ($32)

This was one of the recommended signature dish by the staff. This dish was named after one of the American renowned music figures. Dip the roasted chicken into the marinated “A La Quincy Jones” for a bursting flavour. The chicken was tender and fell off easily from the bone. The roasted chicken tasted delicious just eating on its own without the sauce. The dish was accompanied with potato wavers. The potato wavers were not really to my liking because it was salty for my tastebuds. Other than that, everything was great.

Time to proceed for dessert after a hearty meal, we let the staff to help us decide on the dessert to be served so it's kinda like a mystery to us what we were having for dessert.

And one of it turned out to be Mont Blanc ($15).

Mont Blanc was served with chestnut custard, caramelized chestnut, dark chocolate crumble and lemon meringue.

With the first bite, I was sold away by the sweetness of the chestnut custard. It was pretty addictive and I kept scooping for more. Totally in love with this. The lemon meringue helped to balance the sweetness of the dessert with a tinge of sourness, resulting in a well mix of both taste.

Last but not least, we ended our meal with Pavlova ($13) making up of assorted fruits, strawberry jelly and white chocolate cream. The main highlight of this dessert was definitely the crisp crust. This is yet another addictive dessert, the crisp crust was really crunchy and literally just melt in our mouth.

The dessert was impressive, we cleared every bits of it.

We have an enjoyable dinner, thanks Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore for hosting us.
Happy belated birthday, Steffi.

Nuffnang Lovin' x Criollo Cocoa Cafe

With the increasingly craze in cafe hopping, cafes are in high demand in Singapore. My Instagram timeline is always filled with foodie and latte art photos from different cafes in Singapore. Yeah, Latte Art is the in thing now! I am really amazed, how many cafes are there in Singapore? How can one has so many cafes to visit without repeating them???

Today I am going to introduce you a nice cafe to hang out at in town,
Criollo Cocoa Cafe

Criollo Cocoa Cafe is located at Orchard Gateway, a perfect hangout spot to fuel and recharge for shopping sprees. They are selling all day breakfast, burgers, waffles, ice cream and drinks.

Here's what we were having:

Piperade

The dish was prepared with baked egg, tomato, bacon and onions. It was served crispy toast. The dish was shared among groups of 4. Mine was shared between 6 person because we have a larger group.

Portobello Mushroom Burger with fries

My favourite of all because the staff prepared an additional plate for our table so Grace and I have this all to ourselves.

We were skeptical about trying the mushroom burger initially because we were so used to have a meat burger. Upon the first bite, we immediately fall in love with it. The mushroom was juicy and delicious, and the cheddar cheese enhanced the flavour of the burger. It definitely does not lose out to the meat burger. The fries on the other hand was slight salty.

Seafood Tagliatelle in Spicy Laksa Sauce

A great combination of laksa sauce together with pasta. It immediately spiced up my appetite with the laksa sauce.

After filling our stomach, we then went on for a demo session on Latte Art, an up and coming hobby that many coffee enthusiasts are taking up.

The barista was patiently teaching us the steps and technique on making our fresh cuppa.

The barista demonstrated 2 different types of latte art. The one she was currently doing was free pour. The height of pouring and control is important.

The end result.

The second one she was doing was drawing a design on the white foam.

The end result. Which design do you prefer?

Thanks Nuffnang for organising this get together session.
