Festive High Tea at Atico Lounge

There is something magical about dining with a spectacular view, offering a memorable dining experience more enjoyable.

Drinks were separately priced with coffee, tea, still or sparkling waters at $4++ per serving. Sipping on a cup of Chamomile Tea and immersing in the relaxing ambience while waiting for the savoury and sweet treats to be served.

The Festive High Tea set served pretty fast in 10 minutes after placing the order, possibly due to the dining time limit of 90 minutes. The two-tier stand showcased a total of 9 items for the $35++ set, with the top tier being the sweet items while the bottom tier featuring savoury items.

We started off with the savoury items which consist of Mille Feuille Portuguese Egg Tart, Smoked Chicken and Artichoke Tart, Truffle Mushroom and Spinch Quiche and Smoked Salmon with Citrus Cream Cheese. Most of the savoury items were tarts, I love the buttery and crunchy tart shell. It not only complemented the ingredients well but also added a delightful fragrance to each tart.

Despite Orange Thyme Madeleines being sweet item, it was being placed at the bottom tier to maximize the space.

The sweet items on the top tier consisted of Eggnog Panna Cotta Tart, Pistachio Pear Cake, Christmas Fruit Mince Pie and Traditional Fruit Cake. I liked the cake the most as the sponge cake was moist and fluffy, layered with a thin spread of whipped cream.

90 minutes dining duration was up, so we were making our way out of the lounge. As we walked, I came across this plot of land, I never know that this part of Singapore is filled with so much trees surrounding the landscape.

Orchard

In search of a new place that brings relaxation with a view, casual atmosphere and close to the city.

I had Black Truffle Burger, a vegan choice with truffle scrambled egg, sauteed mushroom, onion and melting cheese being sandwiched in between the brioche bun. The burger had a creamy texture with the melting cheese, buttery texture from the scrambled egg and the sauteed mushroom added juiciness. Complimentary bread was served too.

Orchard Hotel Singapore

A glimpse of the hotel lobby, the antique clock placed in the center of the lobby caught my eyes. The dark interior colours of black, grey and brown set the stylish ambience of the hotel.
We had our lunch at one of the restaurants, The Orchard Cafe, which serves a wide array of fresh seafood, Asian, Japanese, Western fare and buffet. We had Fried Calamari ($15++) for sharing and I had Carbonara ($18++) for my main course. The food was quite disappointing, the portion for calamari was very little and not worth the price paid. The carbonara on the other hand, I can't even taste the creaminess in the pasta and it tasted more like aglio olio to me.

Happenings in March and April - Carousel Buffet Lunch at Royal Plaza on Scotts

Tuesday 2/3/21

I started to go back office to work on site more regularly now. One thing I like about going back office to have lunch with my colleagues and talking about anything under the sun. It has been a long time since I last met my team, hence the eight of us headed out to Swensen's @ Plaza Singapura for lunch.

I had something different today instead of the usual Chicken Baked Rice, I had Salmon and Mushroom Baked Rice. So nice to have lunch with such a big group again.

Saturday 4/3/21

Weekend is a period for me to relax as I refrained working on weekend nowadays.

I received EST LAB OptimaLift A+ Eye Contour Mask from Daily Vanity this week and decided to use it over the weekend.

The eye mask helps to de-puff eye bags, reduce dark circles, improve fine lines, leave our eyes looking firmer, brighter, more radiant and rejuvenated.

10th floor aunt has prepared nasi lemak for my family for dinner. She has added many ingredients and mine has a specially added salmon. Thanks Aunt for always feeding us with good food.

Friday 19/3/21

Headed back to office today, we went over to Astons @ The Central for lunch.

I ordered different combination of side dishes, fries and cold pasta. Something different for photo taking. A delicious lunch to end off the working week. It was nice to go back office once in a while though working from home is more flexible.

Saturday 27/3/21

I headed for my scalp treatment and haircut. Feel so great to have my scalp being deep cleansed regularly because it helps to control the hair loss issue.

Amber's family came over to my place in the evening, always have a great time playing with the A's siblings, so cute and playful.

Thursday 1/4/21

2020 has been an extraordinary year for my workplace with overwhelming work due to staff movement and additional load added, this has brought our work to a whole new level that we have never experience. To recognise our hard work for the past one year, G treated us to a buffet lunch at Carousel. As some of us were working from home that day, we traveled down to the venue individually.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we have to placed our order using our phone by scanning a QR code and the servers will bring the food to our table.

I started off the buffet with Fish Maw Soup.

The Grilled Sea Bass Fillet was my favourite among the dishes. The sea bass was complemented by the sauce which added fragrance to the fillet.

I ordered a bowl of Carbonara which was on a dry side. The boneless Prawn Paste Chicken was savoury with crispy skin and juicy meat. Baked Red Snapper was normal, the sea bass fillet tasted better.

Since there was curry, we decided to get Naan to pair with the curry. I was starting to fill full after finishing this. I saved the remaining capacity for dessert.

The gula melaka ice cream was really sweet, glad that it came with a quarter slice of waffle to balance out the sweetness of the ice cream. The macaron was irresistible and not overly sweet.

The delicious lunch was indeed a feast for our stomach. Thanks G for the lunch treat, we had a good lunch break before heading back to our respective places to chiong for work again.

I was feeling so full that I skipped dinner that night. That's all for updates, good night.

Happenings in December - MangoKing Thai Dessert + Opening Party at HANS IM GLÜCK + Christmas Decorations

Saturday 2/12/17

We went Marina Square today because I wanna try the set meal at Chic-a-boo Fried Chicken. As time was early, we strolled around Marina Square to buffer our time.

Decorations for Christmas were already up, reminding us that festive season is around the corner. The design was so cute that I stopped by to take more photos.
I need to start shopping for Christmas gift soon.

This year Christmas theme was Pororo.
There was a pop-up store selling Pororo merchandise at the atrium.

Surrounded by the adorable penguins.

This was my second time to Chic-a-boo.
The first time I was here, I only had cheese fries because I need to go home for dinner. So this time round, I wanted to try their set meal which was quite valuable.

We ordered the set meal that comes with a drink, muffin, 2 sides and 2 meat at $7.90. The fish was crispy on the outer and moist in the inner while the the chicken was juicy and the batter was crispy. The portion was more than enough for me with onion rings and curly fries added.

Sunday 3/12/17

It's been a long time since we last went to Orchard, since there was no particular place that we want to go, we took this opportunity to go Orchard Road. Upon reaching, we kind of regret our choice because we forgot that it was Sunday and the place was packed with..........

The largest Christmas tree that I saw was at Ion.
It was a walk-in Christmas tree but nothing much inside. We came out within a minute.

MangoKing Thai Dessert has recently opened its door at ION Orchard basement 4.

We all know that Thailand is famous for their different variety of mango dessert, now we can try it here in Singapore. I have the opportunity to try  the mango drink, thanks Jackie for arranging.

You definitely will not miss this shop when you passed by basement 4, they can be easily identified by the strings of mangoes hanging and mango display around their shop.

MangoKing Thai Dessert is available in 2 sizes - large cup ($10.90) and regular cup ($8.90). Get the large cup if you are sharing the drinks.

We were given the large cup where our cup was filled with mango juice and a layer of fresh cream, toppled with mango cubes.

The thickness of the mango juice was just right, it was refreshing and sweet, perfect drink to have for a hot day in Orchard. A spoon was also provided for us to eat the mango cubes.

The fresh mango cubes have a combination of sweet and sour ones, we finished the mango cubes and juice in no time.

Head down to Orchard to try it yourself.

Monday 4/12/17

Started my Monday with Party In The Woods at Hans Im Glück.

I attended the opening party of HANS IM GLÜCK which is situated at the heart of Orchard, it can be found next to the Thai Embassy and International Building.

The party has already started by the time we reached and it was packed with crowds. We have a hard time squeezing our way through.

HANS IM GLÜCK originates from Germany that is known for their In The Woods inspired interiors and gourmet burgers.

GF joined me for the event too. Thanks for the photo.
Grabbed the opportunity to meet her before she gets busy next 2 months.

We have a glass of mojito to chill our night away.
With drinks and music, it's time to let our hair down and enjoy ourselves.

We had a bottle of gingle ale before we left the place.
The crowds was madness that we couldn't properly enjoyed during the opening, we left the place early. Would love to come back again to enjoy the full dining experience.

Tuesday 5/12/17

I have a girly dinner night with GF and Linda, the meetup was to celebrate Linda's belated birthday. It was a yearly affair to meet up during her birthday and a time for us to catch up with each other. We have our dinner at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe @ HarbourFront Centre.

I have creamy spaghetti with pork chop.
All 3 of us ordered something similar, the common similarity is pork chop.

We treated Linda to the dinner and also to pass her the birthday gifts. It was a nice catching up session where we seated in the cafe till we were the last few customers remained. I enjoyed meetup like that where quality time is well spent.

Thursday 7/12/17

We had our dinner at one of my regular hangout place, it was my second time here this week.

We chanced upon this small eatery, Tai Lei Loi Kei 大利來記 at VivoCity B2, bringing us food from Macau. First was Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe, now is Tai Lei Loi Kei, it makes us miss Hong Kong and miss going vacation.

I ordered Bouncy Noodles with Pork Chop.
It was simple and nice.

As it is a small eatery, seats are limited and you might be asked to share seats. It is exactly like the fast pace style in Hong Kong just less away the bad attitude of staff. There is no service charge as we made our own order at the counter and we paid $17.55 for our dinner.

Saturday 9/12/17

We went Tiong Shan Porridge Centre @ Chinatown for dinner, a place famous for their claypot dishes and Cantonese style porridge. I remembered when I was young, mummy would bring me here to eat the fish head claypot bee hoon whenever we came to Chinatown for shopping.

We ordered Sliced Fish Claypot Bee Hoon At $10, the portion was just nice for 2.
The broth was infused with the flavours of the ingredients that make us couldn't sipping it. The bee hoon was thick and slippy. Still love the rich flavours of the broth.

Knowing that I never tried before Crocodile meat, bf ordered Gao Bao Crocodile claypot for me to try. Crocodile meat is not to my liking because the meat was super hard, it took a long while for me to finally chew it. Moreover it was expensive too, this dish alone costs us $22.

Sunday 10/12/17

We went Rochor Road to run some errands before heading to Bugis.

Bugis Junction embarked on an enchanted journey. The ballerina pirouetting atop a music box was placed at Bugis Atrium. It was pretty but the face of the ballerina looked scary.

Bf wanted to have this for dinner because he has never tried before. So we settled at Monster Curry for dinner.

I opt for Fried Shrimp Curry Rice.
Don't be scare by their big plate, the portion was just nice for one pax. The curry wasn't too spicy for us. The fried shrimps was crispy and tender.

This marks the end of my weekend, Christmas is 2 weeks away.
Long weekend is coming.
