Happenings in April - Circuit Breaker + Althea 's and Coop+Daisy Product Review

I have been staying at home most of the time for the past one month as I have started working from home since 4 March and only went back to office for a day on 16 March. With the announcement of the Circuit Breaker (starting on 7 Apr) yesterday, staying an working at home for the next one month is a must for us. We should all be socially responsible, stay home and only go out for essential services during this critical period.

Here's some of the food I had during my stay home days.

Friday 10/4/20

It's Good Friday, finally I can take a break from work. Working from home can be more exhausted than working in office because we worked longer than our usual working hours every day.

We got new food to try out today, thanks to 10th floor aunt for adding delicious chicken wings to our late lunch.

Saturday 11/4/20

With the dalgona coffee craze going on since Covid-19 outbreak, many have been making this trendy beverage at home because the ingredients required are simple to get. Just instant coffee, sugar and milk will do.

My first attempt of making dalgona coffee.
I'm not a coffee person, hence I just made a small cup to try it out. We can enjoy barista-style brew coffee even in the comfort of our home. Everyone can be a barista.

The coffee tasted smooth and fragrant, I enjoyed every sip of it. Next time shall make a bigger cup.

It has been awhile since I last did a product review, so I will sharing with you 2 products from Althea that I have started using, which are given to me from one of my buddies.

First is Stay Fresh Body Sparkling Mist.

I never leave home without scent, I will either spray perfume or mist depending on the occasion or purpose.

Stay Fresh Body Sparkling Mist contains a feminine mix of fruity and floral scents which the ingredients of orange, peach and rosy floral notes. I noticed that the scent lingered on the body longer than the other perfume that I used, just what I am looking for in a body mist.

A'Bloom BHA Blackhead Blaster which I received during last Christmas.

A'bloom's BHA Blackhead Blaster is a stick exfoliator that deep cleanse our skin and remove the nasty blackhead in our pores. It contains BHA, charcoal and apricot seed that detoxifies the pores and dead skin cells.

I used it at my nose area where visible blackheads can be spotted. Just damp the skin with a little water before application.  Then twist up the product and massage onto the targeted area for 30-60 seconds.

Sunday 26/4/20

I chanced upon delivery deal for KFC and decided to order them for dinner tonight. I ordered a Sharing Feast to be delivered at 5.30pm but it arrived one hour earlier at 4.30pm and we had an early dinner instead.

The Sharing Feast consists of 10 pieces of chicken, 20 nuggets and 3 packets of medium fries. We also add on for 2 packets of cheese sauce. I paid $36.25 for the meal (inclusive of delivery fee) which was so worth it as we ate until super full.

What I like about KFC Chicken is the crispy skin.
It was nice to have delivery meal once in awhile, take a break from the usual takeaway food from the hawker centre.

I found this Coop+Daisy Gym Kit when I was looking into my beauty products for moisturiser. I won this gym kit from GF's giveaway which she had gotten from her Hawaii trip.

Coop+Daisy Gym Kit consists of Lip Balm, Cleansing Water, Face Hydrator and Face Mist. It is a very useful kit to bring along for gym session or vacation.

Coop+Daisy Gym Kit Refine Face Hydrator is a lightweight moisturizing lotion that quenches skin with instant hydration. It carries a light scent of coconut rose which is soothing. So glad that I am finally putting the gym kit to use.

With that, I ended my updates on April.

Food Review: Italian Dining at PocoLoco @ Royal Square at Novena

It was my second meetup with CK this week. With the Covid-19 situation in Singapore getting more and more serious, I decided to make this my last gathering with friend until the situation got under control.

We wanted to try the Italian food at PocoLoco because of their reasonable pricing and good reviews, a restaurant where we can enjoy a full course Italian cuisine at less than $100 in a relaxing ambiance. If you are looking for a quality meal at a wallet friendly price, PocoLoco is the place for you.

We visited the PocoLoco outlet at Royal Square. The restaurant has a cozy and pleasant European style setting that makes me feel at ease upon entering. The attractive point of the restaurant is that they serve authentic Italian food at an affordable price, the ingredients are imported from Italy. We ordered quite a number of items and only paid $30.70 per pax.

Because of the Covid situation, we were the only few customers in the restaurant. It was as though we have booked this whole space for a private dinner.

I had Apple Juice ($3.70++) to go with my meal.

Both of us got Mushroom Soup ($5.40++) which was served in a cute bowl. The creamy mushroom soup brought out an earthy flavour which was delectable. It served as a good starter to warm up our stomach before the main course arrived.

We also ordered appetizer Gamberi ($9.50++) for sharing. The sauteed prawn with butter, garlic & lemon tasted fresh and savoury.

Here comes our main course. I had Mentaiko Pasta ($14.90) while CK had Fettuccine ($14.90). The colour for Mentaiko Pasta was unique, it tasted a bit weird on first bite but I got used to the taste after a few mouthful.

My favourite dish was Chocolate Lava Cake with Gelato ($11.70)

When the cake was cut open, the rich chocolate started flowing out. The warm lava cake paired with gelato brought a different dimension to the taste of the dessert, feeling hot and cold sensation while savouring the food. It was just so enjoyable.

Putting a stop to gathering and minimising social interaction. Hope that the virus can be contained soon so that our life can go back to normal.
