Happenings in July - Teddie's First Month Celebration + Jing Hua Xiao Chi + Birthday

Sunday 14/7/19

We went down to the function room at my cousin's condo for my niece, Teddie, first month celebration. Upon reaching the venue, the first thing that caught my attention was the ice cream booth.

It was the old school type of ice cream booth which served my favourite ice cream cone, cup or bread.

I opt for the mix flavour ice cream cone which consists of attap seed, coconut, chocolate and sweet corn. It was a satisfying treat.

The cute cupcakes placed on the table looked inviting and I just have to try the teddy bear cupcake.

It's Teddie's first month celebration.

Took the opportunity to tour around the pool area. The kids and SC went down for a swim.

We then went to my cousin's house for a room tour. One thing I like about their house is the view from their balcony which offers a beautiful scenery. It is breathtaking to wake up to such scenery every day.

As the time was still early, we decided to visit Yong's house since we had not been there yet. We just laze around watching television and playing with the kids.

When nearing dinner time, Yong suggested Dai Lou @ Marina Country Club as it was just in the vicinity.

Back to Marina Country Club again after 2 years, I took a stroll along the jetty while waiting for the staff to set up our tables. I always love watching the coastline and admire the beauty of the sea.

Some of the dishes that my uncle ordered - Cereal Chicken, Curry Fish Head and Salted Egg Prawn. We were well fed because my uncle ordered so many dishes for us. Thanks Uncle for the dinner treat.

Wednesday 24/7/19

Essence is now an essential product I used to prep my skin daily. After cleansing and toning my skin, I applied L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence by patting the essence on my face and neck.

L'Oreal Paris' Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence is an ultra-lightweight facial essence that combines skin brightening actives to penetrate deep into skin for a hydrated, youthful and radiant look.

Only 3 drops are enough for my entire face. The essence is lightweight with watery texture which get absorbed into my skin really fast, providing instant hydration and leave no sticky feeling. It does not cause any irritation to my skin as well. My skin looked less dull after a week of use, it also improved my skin texture slightly and add radiance.

Friday 25/7/19

I began my T.G.I.F. with a sumptuous lunch at Jing Hua Xiao Chi (京华小吃) at Bugis Village.

This Chinese restaurant creates home-style cooking that appealed to the taste of local Singaporeans and tourists. The restaurant is known for their delicious pan-fried dumplings and Xiao Long Bao.

Since there were 3 of us, each of us ordered a dish for sharing.

Rachel chose the Chinese Pizza which featured a crisp crust around a juicy filling. It was served piping hot. I love this dish very much, the crust was crunchy on the edges and the filling was fragrant.

The crispy crust was stuffed with a juicy filling made from vegetables and pork. It was the same ingredients as our pan-fried pork dumpling (guo tie). The first bite already got me hooked and it stimulated my appetite.

I chose Xiao Long Bao, the juicy soup dumplings with fresh vegetables and pork wrapped by a delicate dough. Dip it with ginger sauce to enjoy the flavor accents.

Mee Ing chose Crispy Red Bean Pancake which has a crunchy outer crust and a  mochi-like inner layer filled with sweet red bean paste.

Thanks Mee Ing for the lunch treat, you have been always so motherly towards Rachel and I.

Saturday 27/7/19

While exploring around Bugis street, we chanced upon Maggie Thai & Chinese Restaurant and decided to give it a try.

I had Thai Milk Tea to go with my meal.

I saw they have Mango Chicken Rice on the menu, so I wanted to try it. But I didn't expect it to be mango salad placed on top of the chicken. I'm not really a fan of mango salad.

Sunday 28/7/19

Travel up to North to meet up with the clique for a tasting and catching up session. I have not seen them the whole of July.

I'm always happy to be out and spend time with my friends.
After the tasting has ended, we went to search for a place to settle down for my birthday dessert. We settled for a Chinese eatery since a lot of places are crowded.

I had Black Glutinous Rice Ice Cream. The dessert carried a sweet note from the coconut syrup and vanilla ice cream. Thanks Kelvin for treating us for this delicious dessert treat. Since the time was still early, we stayed awhile more for a cup of tea since it was so long since we last met. Thanks Jasmine for the drink treat.

Thanks gals for the gifts and always being with me.

Hanging on to the last thread of twenties make me realised how fast time has passed. It really got me thinking more about being financially stable to prepare for the future.

Travel up North to Northpoint City for Shake Shake In A Tub on a Sunday afternoon.

There are a total of 8 seasonal flavours that we can choose from:
- Cheese

- Curry
- Kimchi
- Truffle
- Sour cream & onion
- Salted caramel

Every order is freshly prepared to ensure that each portion will be coated evenly with Shake Shake seasoning of choice. Not only that, Shake Shake In A Tub earned a Healthier Choice Symbol from the Health Promotion Board with the use of state-of-the-art fryer with oil.

The tub sizes range from small to extra large, giving shoppers the mobility to carry and share these piping hot snacks while window shopping or even catching a movie.

Here were our selection of choices to be shared among 6 of us.

We ordered the giant tub of Shoestring Fries ($9.80) which comes with 3 flavours and 1 soft serve dip. The 3 flavours that we selected were CurrySour cream & onion and Truffle. We got the mix yogurt and bubble gum soft serve.

This reminded me of our childhood guilty pleasure where we love dipping our fries in ice-cream at fast food restaurants for a sweet indulgence. The fries were well seasoned and complemented well with the soft serve.

We added on a regular tub of Criss-cut Fries ($4.30) with BBQ flavour. Despite being a little salty, the criss-cut fries were still very addictive and you couldn't stop yourself from eating. The fries were fried till golden brown, making them tasted delicious.

We had 8 pieces Buffalo Wings ($10.20) which were marinated with mild spicy sauce. The wings were tender and juicy.

Last but not least, we had the Yogurt and Bubblegum Soft Serve (3.80) which featured the pretty colours of blue and white, making the dessert looked mouthwatering.

It has been more than a month since I last saw them, so great to have this opportunity for catch up. Thanks GF for bringing us to the tasting.

Congratulations to Shake Shake In A Tub on the opening, drop by the store to try out their finger foods if you pass by Northpoint City.
