Food Review: Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe

Made my second visit back to Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe, an authentic Thai cuisine meal serving cafe situated at Aljunied Avenue 2. This is definitely a place for Thai food lover and residents staying in the east. We were here to try the new dishes that Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe has come up with.

Tried bandung previously, so this time round I went for Thai Milk Tea. My all time favourite choice of drinks.

My friends ordered lemongrass drink.

Here are the new dishes that we have tried out:

Thai Sambal Sea Bass - $Seasonal Price

The sea bass was coated with sambal which immediately spice up our appetite when consumed. The spice level was bearable and was really shiok. The sea bass skin was still crispy while the inner flesh remained moist and fresh.

Kaeng Som Cha Om - $18

Spicy food lovers gonna love this soup that contain omelette, prawns and vegetables. The spicy soup was served piping hot. It has a spicy and sour flavour that leave a fierce lingering after taste. Though very spicy, we still love drinking it.

Stir-Fry Broccoli with Scallops - $20

Time to have some veggies to go with our meal consisting of broccoli, scallops, mushroom and carrot. I love the scallops, very chewy and soft.

Cold Tofu with Special Thai Seafood Sauce - $15

We tried this during our last visit. 

The gravy enhanced the flavour of the cold tofu. Very delicious.

Thai Fried Chilli Fish Head - $28

The fried chilli fish head has a strong kick of fury and has a crunchy texture. The chilli added a bombastic flavour to the fish head. My only gripe was that it has many bones so have to be careful when consume it.

I love seeing our table filled with many food.

Stir-fry Cabbage with Thai Sweet Fish Sauce - $10

I'm never a veggie lover but this stir-fry cabbage tasted really nice. It tasted flavourful just on its own together with the Thai sweet fish sauce. Simple yet delightful dish.

Jade Noodles - $6 per portion

The above is for 3 portions.

My first time eating noodle in jade green. I like how the noodle was not over greasy and the soft texture. The roasted pork was very chewy and tender. The jade noodle and BBQ pork was a perfect match together.

Here were some of the all-time favourite current dishes:

BBQ Pork Belly - $18

The BBQ pork was still as tasty as ever. Well-coated with BBQ sauce, the pork belly tasted juicy and yummy.

LaLa Bee Hoon - $18

Don't be deceived by the plain looking bowl of lala bee hoon, this dish actually gave a strong punch of spiciness when ate, contributed by the white pepper used in the ingredient. The lala was tender and juicy.

Deep Fried Kang Kong with Special Thai Sauce - $10

I missed this cracker-like snacks dish. It keeps me wanting to come back for more. The crispiness and crunchiness was what that got me hooked up, can't stop myself from eating.

It was a joyful tasting session with the girls.

Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe Food Tasting

Situated in the east of Singapore, we found a cafe that serves a classic meal of Thai cuisine:
Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe

Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe is located at Aljunied Avenue 2, a 15 minutes walk away from Aljunied MRT station. For people who are looking for an authentic Thai cuisine meal that delivers on taste and won’t break the bank, Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe is the right place for you.

Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe is located below blk 115, for family and friends living near Aljunied, this cafe is really worth giving a try. You get to savour authentic Thai cuisine with laid-back atmosphere at a reasonable price.

The cafe is decked out in a comfortable non-intimidating Thai decor, with ornate patterns, bouquets of flowers and ceiling fans whirling. It has both indoor or alfresco dinning. 

I have bandung for my drink, the rose syrup milk drink.

Other drinks available includes ice milk tea, ice tea, ice lemongrass tea and etc.

We attacked the drinks immediately when served. Just in time to ease our thirst after a long walk.

Spicy Thai-Thai Cafe adopted the North Eastern Thai style of cooking where they used charcoal for soup and steamed dishes to maintain heat consistency and quality, allowing us to enjoy Thai food the authentic way. They also have different own-made dressings for different dishes, to desserts made from scratch, or even customized dishes. 

We started our dinner with Fish Maw Crab Meat Abalone Soup in Coconut - $28.

The soup was served in a coconut shell where the soup was steamed together with coconut, adding a sweet light flavour to the soup. The soup was filled with lots of ingredients which include fish maw, crab meat, abalone, coconut and mushroom. The serving of abalone was really generous. Every sip tasted so heavenly great and flavourful. 

Thai Style Otak (Hommok) - $18

Just like the fish maw soup, the otak was placed in a coconut shell too. This was my first time eating otak that wasn't served using banana leave. The coconut shell was stuffed with goodness like otak, coconut and seafood. I could taste the spiciness of the otak with a hinge of sweetness of the coconut flesh.

Thai Walking Cat Fish with Spicy Lemon Soup $35

The cat fish was served piping hot in the spicy lemon soup that bound to leave a hot sensation down our throat. The cat fish was steamed to perfection, the meat was super tender and soft. Be careful when you eat because the cat fish has lots of bones.

Thai Dill Omelette (Cha Om) - $10

The Thai Dill Omelette tasted almost the same as the usual omelette except that the Thai Dill added crunchiness to the texture of the eggs.

BBQ Pork Belly - $18

The pork belly was juicy and well mix with the BBQ sauce. The meat was chewy and tasted even better when dipped into their home made chili sauce.

Thai Basil Crab - seasonal price

Yet another spicy dish. The level of spiciness of Thai Basil Crab definitely does not lost to the spicy flavour of chili crab. The spice level was shiok to the max, it was not over-powering. Even someone like me who don't really very spicy food enjoyed it. I'm sure you would like this too.

Lala Bee Hoon - $18

The most spiciness dish of the night in my opinion.

I don't immediately feel the spiciness when I first tasted it. The burning sensation kicked in after chewing on the bee hoon. What contributed to the hot and spicy sensation of the bee hoon was the use of white pepper. I kept gobbled down my drinks after eating the bee hoon. Spice lovers gonna love this. 

The portion of lala given was really generous.

Cold Tofu with Special Thai Seafood Sauce - $15

The cold tofu was really soft and could literally melt in my mouth. The Thai seafood sauce enhanced the flavour of the tofu, making the tofu so tasty. My only grip was that the portion was a bit small though. I definitely want more of the tofu.

Deep Fried Kang Kong with Special Thai Sauce - $10

This is probably my favourite dish that I tasted. The kang kong was deep fried into a cracker-like snacks. Every bite tasted crispy and crunchy, I couldn't stop myself from eating until we reached the very last bits. The kang kong was best consumed when dipped with special Thai chili sauce, leveling up the shiokness.

We have a great chat with the boss, Ron, where he shared about passion with Thai cuisines and travelling experience to Thailand to source for ideas for his cafe.
