Saturday 6/4/24
Our café hopping led us to Oaks Coffee Co. at Upper Thomson Road. This cafe was very crowded with youth and packed to the brim when we arrived.
While the cafe has two floors, it was not particularly spacious. It can accommodate less than 20 pax on level 2.
The Carbonara ($19+) was filled with crispy bacon, mushrooms and onsen egg. I like that the creamy sauce was a lighter and watery texture, rather than being overly thick and heavy. This made it very appetizing.
The Churros ($12+) was accompanied by homemade vanilla ice cream. With a crunchy exterior dusted in sugar and a doughy interior, they were delightful. The chocolate sauce complemented well with the pastry and the vanilla ice cream added a refreshing contrast.

We went Aburi-En for lunch at Chinatown Point. I had Mentaiko Chicken Don ($13.90++) where the deep-fried chicken was drizzled with mentaiko sauce. The creamy richness of the sauce enhanced the flavour with each bite.

Still not feeling full, we headed over to Starbucks where I gotten a Chocolate Chip Cookies. Freshly baked and served warm, it was soft and gooey with melted chocolate chips, hitting the spot just right.

Despite my multiple visits, I make it a point to try new main course so that I can have different dining experience. Today I had Chicken Katsu Don ($13.90++), served together with miso soup. The chicken katsu had a nice contrast of textures with its crispy skin and juicy meat within.
We ended off with a plate of Gyoza ($7.90++) that were swimming in a pool of sweet sauce. I would prefer it to come with a savoury sauce to bring out the flavour further.

I met up with GF for dinner at Aburi-En @ Suntec City to exchange the souvenirs we gotten from our recent overseas trip. Both of us had Buta Shogayaki Don ($12.90++) where the rice bowl was filled with thinly sliced sautéed pork belly in ginger sauce and onions, and topped with onsen egg.
