Food Review: Mathilda's Gelato Ice Cream Delivery Singapore

With the hot and humid weather, sometimes I yearn for something cold and sweet to counter against the hot weather during my work from home days. Ice cream is the first thing that come to my mind. It has been nearly half a year since I last had ice cream and I really miss it. I'm so glad that Mathilda's Gelato Ice Cream Delivery is here to fulfill my craving satisfaction.

Technology has make things so convenient for us. I can have my ice cream deliver to my doorstep in one hour from order time. Mathilda's Gelato is the first ever ice cream delivery specialists in Singapore. They provide a vast array of choices from ice cream, sorbet, gelato to frozen yoghurt. without compromising on quality.

My delivery arrived at 3.55pm which was within the time slot of 3pm to 4pm.

Free delivery: For orders above $60 (from 10am to 10pm).
Standard rate of $10: For orders below $60 (from 10am to 10pm).
Express delivery of $18: Order now and receive within one hour (available 24 hours).

Out of the 43 flavours, here were the 4 flavours that I have chosen:
- Speculoos Ice Cream
-  Bubble Gum Ice Cream
- Hazelnut Cookie Dough Ice Cream
- Espresso Ice Cream

There are so many flavours available (note: some are out of stock), there is definitely something that will catch your eyes.

I was attracted to bubble gum ice cream because it is in my favourite baby pink and blue. The colours were captivating as I was drooling as I scooped the ice cream, it will turn purple when it melted.

The ice cream at Mathilda’s are freshly handmade made daily using only high quality and fresh ingredients. The milk and cream sourced are from cruelty free dairy farms.

The ice cream tasted actually like the bubble gum I used to have when I was young, the sweet and fruity taste lingered when I let the ice cream just melt in my mouth. While enjoying the cup of bubble gum ice cream, it definitely brought back the childhood memories of us enjoying our first bubble gum experience in Genting.

The espresso flavour was specially requested by my bro as he is a coffee lover.

Espresso ice cream is for people who prefer a less sweet option. Mathilda's uses premium coffee beans which are carefully roasted to bring out the aroma of the espresso. Every mouthful carried a bittersweet note with the beautiful combination of bitterness from coffee beans and sweetness from ice cream.
I did a DIY using a small cup by pouring the fresh milk to the espresso ice cream and stir it until the ice cream was fully melted. The end result was amazing, it become coffee frappe. Every sip was so smooth and brought out the distinct note of the coffee aroma.

Speculoos ice cream is possibly my favourite among the four choices. What I like about speculoos ice cream was that it contained generous amounts of crumbled Biscoff biscuit chunks, the spiced caramel, the hints of cinnamon and brown sugar. It was creamy, fragrant and delicious, the crumbled biscuit chunks gave a nice bite.

I did another DIY which was to spread the speculoos ice cream on biscuit, one of my favourite way of eating ice cream at home. This made a good tea break snack.

I tried using Bubble Gum Ice Cream and the colour sandwiched by the biscuits looked amazing. Remember to stand by a plate because the ice cream might ooze out when it was melting.

This was my second favourite ice cream flavour. With the nutty and robust flavours of hazelnut, the ice cream carried a familiar sweet taste.

The ice cream contained chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough that were hidden in the hazelnut ice cream, be sure to dig for it. Every spoonful was like a bliss, the hazelnut taste attracted us and got us digging for more. The texture of the ice cream was very smooth and soft.

Another best way to enjoy ice cream is to pair it with waffles. The combination of Hazelnut Cookie Dough Ice Cream with waffles is one of the best.

Want to enjoy your tub of ice cream without the needs to leave your home to purchase it?

Food Review: Kin Hoi Fresh Cockles at Holland Close Coffee Shop

Who doesn't love indulging in affordable and delicious food affair?

I have ventured into Holland Close for food hunt and discovered a delectable stall, Kin Hoi, that sell fresh and clean cockles. Let me share with you my seafood gastronomical experience at Kin Hoi. If you love shellfish, this is the place for you. They are available for Food Panda delivery too if you prefer to dine at home.

With the girls at Kin Hoi for an early dinner.
Thanks Tracy for the group photo and Dawn for gathering us.

The first dish we tried was the best seller, Cockles Thai Style ($8/$15).
Every cockle you see on the plate were thoroughly washed to ensure the cleanliness of the cockles and we won't get any sandy cockles.

Thumb up to the hardwork put in by Daniel and Atchara, founder of Kin Hoi, in delivering the quality food. They wake up at 6am during operating days to kickstart their food preparation and cleaning, preparing the food delivery orders for afternoon and operating the stalls from 4pm till the night ends.

The plate of cockles were accompanied with Thai Chili Sauce, the cockle was best to consume with the sauce dipped to capture the acidic and spicy flavours that complement the taste.

Look at the fresh Oysters from Japan which are only available from Friday to Sunday. Kin Hoi is selling the oysters at $3.50 per piece.

They also have oysters from Seattle Washington, USA for sale. It is priced at $19.50 for 6 pieces, available only for take away.

The plate of Oyster was captivating. You can squeeze the lemon on the oyster (optional) before consuming, this will stimulate your appetite with the acidic taste.

Use a fork to detach the flesh from the shell and slurp it down. The oyster was really fresh, juicy and irresistible. This is a must order for the seafood lovers.

Thai Vermicelli Salad ($6) was an appetising dish. The vermicelli salad was drizzled with the signature Thai chili sauce that was packed with spice and sourness. The vermicelli was very smooth and slippery. With the Thai chili sauce that coated every strand of the vermicelli, it gave a refreshing kick.

My favourite dish was Thai Honey Grilled Pork ($6/$12) which captured the combination of sweetness from honey and the savoury taste. Every piece of the grilled pork glazed shiningly, as though it was inviting me to move our chopsticks to the plate. All four of us agreed that the Thai Honey Grilled Pork pleased our palates with it's moderate sweetness and it helped to ease the spices we had from the other dishes.

One unique point about Kin Hoi is that their dishes are all served in a square plate, this is not something commonly found at other places.

Next up was Top Shell Salad ($8). The top shell was sliced into thin bite size which was very chewy and soft, the texture resembled abalone. The top shell was mixed with fresh onions and Thai chili sauce to refresh our taste buds.

My first time trying Gong Gong ($6/$12). Gong Gong is also known as sea snail. I have never eaten escargot before, so here's my first time trying a snail like dish.

The way to eat Gong Gong was to use a stick to dig out the flesh from the shell. It required a bit of technique to dig out the flesh, you might need to dig in a few times finding the spot before you can pull it out.

After pulling out the flesh, dip it into the Thai chili sauce and I'm ready to dig in. The Gong Gong was thoroughly clean too and there was no murky taste. It has a chewy texture too.

Last but not least was Mussels Thai Style ($6/$12). Over at Kin Hoi, the fresh seafood here are plentiful. The texture was slightly chewy and I like that there was no fishy taste.

We were captivated by the table full of food. Next time if you are around Holland area, come over to Kin Hou to try out the fresh seafood for yourself.
