Redbull Stratos Media Event and Skydiving @ iFly Singapore

My eventful Saturday began at iFly @ Sentosa.
I made my first visit to iFly.

Measuring 16.5 feet in diameter with a flying height of 56.5 feet, the equivalent of five storeys, iFly Singapore is the world's most advanced and largest vertical wind tunnel.  It has certified more than 300 instructors and hundreds of flyers around the world, including all instructors at iFly Singapore.

While waiting for the presentation to take place, we went around to take some photos.

I need a Red Bull Energy Drink from Europe to prepare for my activity later on.

I want to increase:
- performance
- reaction speed
- vigilance
- energetic

Red Bull allows one to stay mentally and physically active.

We had Cheryl from Red Bull to give us a detail story regarding the Mission to the Edge of Space.

First question: What is Red Bull Stratos all about?

Red Bull Stratos, created by Red Bull and Felix Baumgartner, is a mission to the edge of space that will try to surpass human limits that have existed for more than 50 years. Supported by a team of experts, Felix Baumgartner will undertake a stratospheric balloon flight to more than 120,000 feet / 36,576 meters and make a record-breaking freefall jump in the attempt to become the first man to break the speed of sound in freefall (an estimated 690 miles / 1,110 kilometers per hour), while delivering valuable data for medical and scientific advancement.

In the process, Felix could potentially break four world records:
- Reaching supersonic speed in freefall (breaking the sound barrier)
- Highest manned balloon flight
- Longest freefall
- Freefall from highest altitude

The key benefits of the mission for the science community are as follows:
- To aid development of a new generation of space suits including enhanced mobility and visual clarity, as well as the latest innovations in parachute systems and other equipment, to lead to passenger crew exit from space.
- To aid development of protocols for exposure to high altitude/ high acceleration.
- To aid exploration of the effects of supersonic acceleration and subsequent deceleration on the human body.

Next question: Who is FELIX BAUMGARTNER?

Felix is the one who set world records for highest and lowest BASE jumps.
Felix set a record for history’s lowest BASE jump (from Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer statue), twice set world records for the highest BASE jump from a building (Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei 101 tower), and even landed his canopy inside a cave in Croatia.

On the 9 October 2012, 8pm, the 43-year-old will embark on his most daring adventure yet, let's wish him a safe flight.

And yes, we were going to experience sky diving too.
I'm so excited and nervous for it.

But before we went, we had some light refreshment to fill our stomach.

Thanks Jasmine for the photo.

We were all feeling excited and thrilled for the skydiving. Let's feel the adrenaline rush.

Thanks William for the photo.

Our group was ready for the flight.

Let's go!

Prior to the flight, we attended a briefing of what to look out for and to learn about the correct positioning.
Everyone of us has to one by one went to the front to demonstrate how to fly. *Awkward moment.*
Thanks William for the photo.

Next.

Prepare for Gear up!

We were all given iFly suit, ear plug and safety helmet.

Thanks William for the photo.

Tadaa, the new girl group:
Team iFly Singapore.

Thumb up. We were good to go.

Go, Superman!
Fly us up to the sky!

Catch us in action.

Each of us had 2 dive and each dive was only 45 seconds.

It was really a cool experience. I'm glad that I made the right choice of playing as initially I was in a dilemma on whether to play or not. I have a new philosophy now:

Never be afraid to try out new things. You will not know whether you like it or not until you try.

It is only when you leap, then you learn to fly.

Just relax yourself and you will be able to fly as high as we do.
Skydiving was amazing, just spread your hands out and have fun while flying.
Most importantly is to relax, if not you will find yourself about to kiss the floor.

It's taking me higher, higher
Higher off the ground.

Thanks Jasmine for the photo.

Yes, we had completed our skydiving. It was a great flight indeed.

With our handsome instructor, Danny. Great job!

After our flight, it's time to stay tuned to Felix's mission.

Felix, you can do it!

Let's give Felix our greatest support. Catch his live action on 9 October 2012 at 8pm:
