8 Durian Food Review: Farm Fresh Durian Delivery Singapore

Durian season is here, fans of the King of fruits get ready to consume your favourite durian this season.

With the situation that we are facing right now, it will be the ideal if we can also have fresh durian deliver to our home without the need to travel out to source for it.

Today I am going to introduce you to Singapore's favourite online durian delivery, 8 Durian.

Their durians come from a plantation in the high and mountainous regions of Pahang, Malaysia.
8 Durian is one of the very few sellers in Singapore to be the providers of premium grade AAA Mao Shan Wang and Black Gold Durians.

The durians are freshly plucked and delivered on the same day. They have fresh shipments from Pahang Plantation twice daily at 10am and 6pm. It takes 8 hours to deliver from Pahang to Singapore and another hour to reach our door step, all within 12 hours. This will ensure we receive the freshest of the best quality of durians.

8 Durian's website is updated daily to show the available stock and rates for the different types of durians.

Here are the available types of durians.
Do secure your order earlier for the best rates and avoid having your favourite durian being out of stock.

There are 2 options for durians: Fresh durian and Frozen durian.
Frozen durians are left over stocks that are not being sold out daily. The left over durians are being chilled and sell as frozen durians at a much cheaper price.

The delivery charges and time slots are as follows:

Free Delivery: For orders above $100.00
Same Day or Next Day Delivery: $10.00
Express 1 Hour Delivery: $18.00 (To select ‘As soon as possible’ as your time slot).

Delivery Time Slots:
- 12 noon to 5 pm
- 5 pm to 10 pm
- 10 pm to 11:45 pm

My delivery arrived at about 2.30pm which was within my chosen time slot between 12pm to 5pm. The durians are de-husked and hygienically heat sealed in boxes to ensure ultimate freshness.
Should your order fails to arrive at the stipulated timing, a full refund via store credits will be made to you.

Here's what we ordered: Penang Red Prawn ($28.90)Premium Mao Shan Wang ‘AAA Grade’ ($42.90) and Premium Black Gold Durian ($47.90).

Premium Mao Shan Wang ‘AAA Grade’
$23.50/kg
$42.90 per box

The first box that we opened was Mao Shan Wang (MSW) durian, it is the all time favourite among my family. Each box contains about 450g of durian flesh and seeds. It comes from 1.8 kg of husked durians. Though the durians are slightly pricey, the quality of the durians make up for it.

MSW has a signature of long flesh and small seeds. Itt has a rich and creamy texture with a balanced combination of bittersweet taste. We love how the flesh was dry and not the watery type which allows us to taste the premium of the flesh.

Premium Black Gold Durian
$27/kg
$47.90 per box

8 Durian premium black gold durian comes from the oldest trees which ripe the best fruits. As such, the supply black gold durian is limited.

Black Gold is known for its legendary bitter flavour. The bitterness aftertaste is slightly stronger than MSW and not too sweet. It also has a brighter colour among the rest.

The box of Black Gold was simply satisfying and curb my parents' cravings for quality durian. The smaller seeds allow us to enjoy a greater proportion of the durian flesh.

Penang Red Prawn
$15.00/kg
$28.90 per box

Red Prawn is freshly plucked from authentic origin 15 year tree. Red Prawn has the sweetest flesh among the 3 flavours.

The creamy and sweet characteristic of Red Prawn has overpower the light bitterness taste.

Each of the flavours have its own distinct taste, there will be one that capture your appetite. Thanks 8 Durian for the sweet gesture, my family loves the durians very much.

Hop over to Singapore favourite durian delivery to try their top quality AAA grade premium durians. For more information, please visit https://8durian.com/

Food Review: Fresh Gourmet Japanese Food from Sushi Delivery Singapore

Though we are in phase 2 of Circuit Breaker, things could hardly resume back to normal. I am still telecommuting from home and this could still go on for the next 1 to 2 months. Working from home and staying home all the time make me feel really depressing because it is the same old rotation every day and even longer hours spent at work. My way of releasing stress is turning to food delivery to reward myself and my family for a good meal at least once a week.

Japanese cuisine is on my top list for the food I miss having the most during Circuit Breaker. Finally my cravings for Japanese cuisine is satisfied with online Japanese food delivery. Best in Singapore has recently shared about Top 5 Best Online Sushi delivery services in Singapore 2020 and Sushi Delivery Singapore is one of them. Best in Singapore has kindly sent me the food for try out.

Sushi Delivery Singapore is the first restaurant that prepare sushi delivery service in Singapore, bringing us the best and freshest Japanese food to our doorstep within an hour. They have a total of 7 commercial kitchens island-wide, hence the orders are allocated to the closest kitchen to ensure we receive the food within the chosen time slot.

Each kitchen is headed by a Japanese Itamae (or head sushi chef) to ensure the quality and consistently delicious food is maintained.

Free delivery is given for order above $60. Otherwise, a flat delivery charge of $5.90 apply.

The delivery arrived at 5.30pm which was within my chosen time slot.
Should your order fail to deliver within the 1-hour window period, Sushi Delivery Singapore will offer $10 off your next order with them. But the likelihood is only 0.001% chance, so don't worry.

Here's my delicious spread of Japanese delights for dinner. The food looked really appealing and I can't wait to start digging in.

It was a joyful treat to have a sumptuous dinner to reward myself after a long day at work, letting me take a good dinner break before going back to work after the meal.

Sushi Delivery Singapore offers a wide variety of and we are spoilt for choice. The selection ranges from sushi, maki, sashimi, donburi, bento box, appetizer and sides to sushi and sashimi platter.

Let me share with you more about what I had.

Maki
From left to right: Champion Floss Maki (8pcs - $15.90)California Maki (8pcs - $10.90) and Avocado Maki (8pcs - $10.90). Out of these, Avocado Maki is under chef recommendation.

To make the best sushi, Sushi Delivery Singapore source premium Japanese shortgrain direct from Miyagi.

My favourite among the three maki is Champion Floss Maki, likewise for my family too. Every ingredient just tantalized my taste buds from grilled teriyaki chicken to cucumber to nacho cheese to chicken floss and tobiko (flying fish roe). Even piece of sushi was generously toppled with chicken floss too. The combination was perfect for me.

California Maki is no stranger to us. The crab stick, cucumber and tamago are wrapped in seaweed and sushi rice, coated with tobiko. The first bite reminded me of bubble tea, the tobiko tasted like the mini version of boba that will burst into savoury flavour when we popped into our mouth.

Avocado Maki is a special one because I never had sushi with avocado as ingredient. The ingredients wrapped in the sushi rice is similar to California Maki which includes crab stick, cucumber and tamago. The difference is the outer layer where a slice of avocado is toppled on the sushi rice, sprinkled with tobiko and creamy mayonnaise.

Sushi
Kappa Maki (1 Roll - $3.90) is a classic Japanese cucumber wrapped in sushi rice and seaweed. This is suitable for vegetarian. Expect a crunchy bite from the cucumber when consume it.

Donburi
The bowl of Chicken Teriyaki Don ($14.90) caught my attention with the bowl of goodness and flavourful ingredients in it. The boneless chicken leg was marinated in teriyaki sauce, served with a onsen egg, cucumber and bowl of sushi rice.

The chicken leg tasted sweet and savoury with the coating of teriyaki sauce. My way of having a runny onsen egg will be to poke the egg yolk and let it flow out, letting the egg yolk mix with the sushi rice which make it taste extra delicious.

Appetizers & Sides
Some of the appetizers and sides that we tried includes Tako Yaki (5pcs - $4.90) and Shrimp Crouton (5pcs - $4.90).

The fried tako yaki contained a generous octopus filling in it and it was coated with Japanese mayonnaise which make it extra creamy and enhancing the flavour.

The Shrimp Crouton were fried to a golden perfection and the exterior skin has a light batter when bite upon it. The texture was firm with the chunks of shrimp in it.

My all time favourite Japanese side dish has gonna be Chicken Karaage (8pcs - $6.90). The tender boneless chicken leg was coated in karaage batter and deep fried to golden brown. The chicken karaage has a nice crispy skin and juicy meat which make it a perfect snack to go with the meal. Not to mention it was addictive too.

A big thanks to Best in Singapore for sending me the delicious Japanese food, allowing my family to have a hearty dinner and with me feeling content because my cravings for Japanese food is satisfied.

Happenings in May and Jun - Circuit Breaker Continued + Food Deliveries

Sunday 3/5/20

Time to give mummy a little break from preparing the meal, hence I ordered Burger King bundle meal for dinner. My parents have not tried before Burger King, so I take opportunity of the bundle meal offer and let them have a try.

I ordered 2 sets of Bundle Meal B. Each set consists of 3 long chicken burger, 6 pieces nuggets and 2 packets of medium fries. I paid a total of $32.20 inclusive of delivery charge. It took 35 minutes for the food to arrive from the time I placed my order.

It has been nearly 5 months since I last had Burger King thought I've been having lots of other fast food during this Circuit Breaker period. I just had KFC last week and Mos Burger on Thursday.

The nuggets made a perfect snack to enjoy along with our burger and fries, exceptionally tasty when dipped into the curry sauce.

The time passed really fast, we are nearly the first month mark of Circuit Breaker. Literally my routine was the same every day: wake up, using laptop (for work on weekdays/for leisure on weekend), using mobile during lunch break and at night, sleep. Part of me are getting very used to this routine life of locking at home. Another part of me want to be free so that I can start travel again, I really miss traveling, a quick day trip or weekend getaway is as good too.

Wednesday 6/5/20

Staying home has given people the time to be creative at home. Many started trying new recipe or picking new skill.

My cousin had this homemade mango agar agar delivered to us. 2020 is definitely not a great year for all of us, we need a 'huat' to help us tide through this difficult period.

I am getting a little worried that after every hair wash, the number of hair drop was quite significant. Hence, I want to try out new hair products to resolve my hair loss issue. I discovered this Ryo Hair Care Kit which I have gotten from an event and give it a try.

I have started using Ryo Hair Loss Care Shampoo (oily scalp). This shampoo has a strong scent of ginseng due to extracts from ginseng plant. After using a few times, I got used to the scent. I did not noticed a significant improvement so far (used 4 times), shall monitor the progress.

Sunday 10/5/20

Today is Mother's Day. We do not have group celebration this year unlike the past years. Dad went to take away dinner from our favourite zi char stall. We ordered the Mother's Day set which has something different from what we usually had.

Our yummy dinner spreads that satisfy our appetite, a delicious meal to end off the week. We had Vegetarian Pot, Curry Fish Head, Fried Rice, Pork Rib, Thai Prawn Cake, Fried Mantou, Braised Pork Leg and Satay.

This box of fried goodness was definitely my favourite. I loved the Thai Prawn Cake which was fried till golden crispy while the meat still refrain the juiciness in it.

The purchase comes with a free bread cake wishing all mothers a Happy Mother's Day. It's always joyful to receive free gift though the bread may taste just normal.

Wednesday 13/5/20

Time flies, it has been 2.5 months since I started working from home. I experienced pros and cons while working from home. The pros will be the comfort level, I can get up at a slight later timing (half an hour more), wear home clothes (t-shirt and shorts), eat and snack anytime I want. The cons will be no aircon, working longer hours (and even on weekend too) and communication barrier. It was so hard to communicate initially because some explanation are so hard to explain using messenger, but the problem was resolved when we started using Skype call.

We ordered 4Fingers Crispy Chicken via Grab Food for dinner. The delivery arrived at 6.30pm, hence I called it a day for work and dig in the dinner. The seaweed fries were nice but portion was too little.

We had BFF Burger which consists of crispy chicken chop topped with house roasted garlic sauce and sandwiched with the sesame bun. The chicken patty was really huge and I was really full after eating it. I have enough fast food for the month.

Saturday 23/5/20

My neighbour got us a box of Ondeh Ondeh Roll Cake that was so delicious.

The fluffy roll cake held a light pandan fragrance while the cream was drizzled with gula melaka sauce that added extra sweetness to the cake.

Saturday 30/5/20

Feeling relief that weekend is here so I can take a little break, though today was also extra busy for me with many work emails to clear. I don't usually work during the weekend but now I foresee I will since I have new projects to do. Spent 4 hours at work and stopped at 6pm today. I took charge of dinner ordering since mummy did not cook today.

Our delivery via Grab Delivery from Hao Wei Lai 好味来 arrived in 40 minutes time.
Our dinner consists of 8 pieces Spicy Wanton, 2 packets of Braised Pork Rice with Mushroom and 10 pieces Pan Fried Dumpling at $29.94.

Among the dishes, I like the Pan Fried Dumpling the best. They were big,  juicy and filing. I was really full and couldn't finish my rice.

Sunday 31/5/20

Today was also a partial working day for me but slightly shorter hours than yesterday (about 2 to 2.5 hours).

We had another sumptuous dinner tonight via Grab delivery. This time round, we ordered from Din Tai Fung as mummy was craving for their Pork Chop Fried Rice.

We ordered the signature Pork Chop Fried Rice. The fried rice was infused with the fragrance of egg awhile the pork chop was tender and carried a smoky taste.

Saturday 6/6/20

As we entered the first week of Phase 1, we still continue to stay home and only leave home for essential activities. Dine in is strictly not allowed yet so we can only take away food or call for delivery.

It is nice to have relatives staying near us, Sis V got us a box of pastries. Just perfect to have for our lunch cum tea break.

Saturday 13/6/20
Sis V got us pastries again, thanks for always spoiling us with delicious food which never fail to brighten up our day.

I had 2 egg tarts for my tea break. The crust was buttery and flaky, while the egg custard was soft and tender.

Because it was dad's birthday yesterday, we had a belated celebration for him where I ordered dim sum from Zi Yean Restaurant. I love the pan fried dumpling and xiao long bao, which was filled with pork meat and soup.

With that, I will end my update here.
