Blog Better - Get Festive with Windows 8.1‏

Hope you guys have a spooky great time this Halloween.

I ended my Halloween with a festive party organised by Microsoft Singapore.

I must say the Microsoft team had put up lots of efforts in decorating the place, I could feel the Halloween atmosphere upon entering their office.

I had a great dinner as well as some catch up with my blogger friends before the start of the event.

Time to begin the event proper:

We started off with a welcome message by Microsoft Singapore, followed by presentation and introduction to the some of the latest gadgets.

This festive season, Microsoft has provide us some great gift ideas for the crafty to the fun-loving; for the gamers to the home-makers.

Presentation on Windows 8.1.

Windows 8.1 introduces new manageability, mobility, security, user experience and networking capabilities–with the goal of offering customers the best business tablets and versatile modern business PCs driven by the most powerful operating system designed for today’s modern businesses.

Windows 8.1 had 25 new apps. From mastering selfies to whipping up a storm int the kitchen with just a few swipes on your device.

A new app that will be ship with Windows 8.1 is Bing Food & Drink. It is designed for kitchen use, such that you can responds to hand gestures so we don't have to touch the screen with our dirty hands after handling the ingredients.

Another app is Bing Smart Search. With Bing Smart Search, you can go to the Start screen and just start typing or swipe out from the right to search for what you want - for example a movie. You'll see suggestions about what you might be looking for or a quick tap on "Enter" will expose you to a whole new way to use Windows. 

Next up was the presentation by the Lenovo team.

I like the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga model.

It has 4 different modes all in one machine - Laptop, stand, tent and tablet.

It offers the freedom and mobility of a tablet. Its 360° flip-and-fold design means owning one is like having multiple devices in one, with four innovative and eye-catching usage modes. Switch between the Yoga 11S' four modes based on what you choose to do. Maximize your productivity in laptop mode, play games in tablet mode, video chat in tent mode, and enjoy photos or music in stand mode.

We also had representative from the Toshiba team. 

Toshiba had come up with the new Toshiba Satellite P-series that offer Full HD display and UltraHD support for best-in-class gaming and entertainment experience. The Satellite P-series offers the latest technologies as well as a readiness for power-hungry applications. The models will be available in two variant: the lightweight Satellite P50 with full-powered Intel Core i7 Quad-core processor and touch-friendly Satellite P50t with 10-point touch support.

To meet the growing demand among business professionals for a combined laptop PC and tablet, Toshiba Singapore Digital Products & Services Group (DS) announced the Portégé Z10t. 

The thin detachable computer with Windows 8 Pro is a durable, convenient and powerful Ultrabook that, with just one click, transforms into a practical and intuitive tablet with an impressive handwriting experience. It offers full flexibility to professional PC users who want a computer that adapts to their needs. 

Besides the presentation, we also played Pictionary using one of the tablets. Our teams chosen the 2 themes - Horror movies and famous characters. 

We had so much fun planning on different scenarios like how should we draw if this character came out. I must say Terence's drawing was awesome, we were all laughing like crazy when guessing the word.

I love how colourful Joey's hair is, I am getting sick of my black hair too.

Sony VAIO Duo 13 was on display too. It is a slider hybrid Ultrabook which provides a multitude of new user solutions with its unique form factor as well as accurate and versatile pen solution.

Last but not least, thank you Microsoft Singapore for the wonderful Halloween gathering night. I had so much fun and nice catchup with all my friends that night.
