Disney's 'Mickey Go Local' Launch at Raffles City

Head down to Raffles City this August for celebration and good cause.

In celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary and Singapore’s 53rd National Day, Raffles City is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia) to launch the first “Mickey Go Local” campaign in Singapore.

Good news for Mickey Mouse fans, time to make your way to Raffles City and have your camera snapping at the 90 pieces of 60-centimetre-tall Mickey Mouse figurines, decorated with creative and thoughtful designs by individuals from different walks of life.

The month-long campaign features a host of activities, including a public exhibition of 90 Mickey Mouse figurines designed in Singapore style by individuals, including President Halimah Yacob.

These uniquely Singapore Mickey Mouse figurines will be displayed at Raffles City from 1 – 29 August 2018.

Mickey Mouse reminds all of us the benefits of laughter, optimism and hope.
The iconic character will connect Singaporeans and tourists in a fun manner, providing more ways for people to celebrate with their favourite Disney character.

Raffles City showcased the unique expressions of our Singaporean way of life through Mickey Mouse for this year’s Arts in the City programme. This uniquely Singapore showcase is meaningful as we mark the nation’s 53rd birthday in August.”

Pay attention to each design because you might spot the figurines designed by our President Halimah Yacob; popular artistes such as JJ Lin, Nathan Hartono, Kit Chan, Felicia Chin, Li Nanxing and many more.

Designed by Kit Chan, the Mickey bears the melody of the song “Home” on his body. Because this is home, truly.

The 1960s kopitiam style of Mickey Mouse best represent our local heritage, showing the typical kopitiam scenes in the olden days of Singapore.

The very familiar Summon Auntie, the meter attendant who give parking fines to cars that are illegally parked. I love this design too.

Spotted Phua Chu Kang figurine too, so creative right?

Besides the figurines, Over 80 of these products including household items, fashion merchandise and accessories will debut at the “Mickey Go Local” pop-up store at Raffles City, and a larger range will be made available later at all major retailers.

There is also a very retro looking backdrop for photo opportunity.

Thanks for the photo.

Birthday Celebration 2018: Spago Dining Room + 126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi + SAMA Curry & Cafe

Another year older, another year wiser.
I gained new knowledge, wisdom, experience with every passing year. It has not been a smooth sailing year for me so far, I encountered obstacles and setbacks along the way. Ironically, it was all these obstacles that allow me to grow and becoming a better person or experienced than before.

This year's birthday was slightly more happening than last year as there were more celebrations this year.

Sunday 29/7/18

My first celebration was a memorable one with bf, he did some planning for my birthday. He brought me to Spago @ Marina Bay Sands for my birthday celebration.

I decided to tie my hair up into a ponytail for a classical look and put on a white dress for an elegant look.

Spago Dining Room by Wolfgang Puck is located on the 57th level of Marina Bay Sands alongside with Spago Bar & Lounge. Since the time was still early for our reservation, we went Spago Bar & Lounge for a chill out.

Taking in superb views of downtown Singapore from 57th level, we spotted the view of the entire Gardens by the Bay and coastal area of Marina Bay.

It was nice to chill by here too, you may want to consider this place if you are looking for places to chill out with drinks and light bites.

We proceeded to Spago Dining Room at 7pm for our dinner.

Knowing it was my birthday, the staff handed me an envelope with birthday card signed by all the staff from Wolfgang Puck shortly after I settled down. Their customer service is really top notch, I was impressed by their personalized touch.

Spago offers a sophisticated atmosphere and romantic dining place for you and your loved ones. They offer seasonal menu of Californian cuisine.

While waiting for our food, we tucked ourselves to the complimentary bread that the staff served us, the bread with butter always tasted better at the restaurant.

Recommend by the staff, we tried Kaya Toast Foie Gras ($38++).
The soft foie gras was placed on the mini toast with kaya spread in between. The yellow spread underneath the bread was actually egg yolk. It was a dish catered to our local culture where people have egg and toast for breakfast.

When nightfall, each table was lit up with a candle placed on our table.

I have Crispy Sea Bass as my main course, the food was excellent and it was very filling. The sauce was great to go along with the sea bass. I was already full after finishing my main course. Perhaps I ate 2 breads earlier.

Apart from the Foie Gras, we also ordered Fingerling Potatoes for sharing. It was nice but we couldn't finished the potatoes because we were already full.

While waiting for the dessert, we stepped out to take a look at the night view from 57th level.

Spago offers a splendid view even at night, the city has came alive in the night.
Dining at Spago was a luxurious experience. From the atmosphere to the food to the services, everything was perfect. It was a great dining experience.

The dessert was Calamansi – Vanilla Vacherin ($18++). It was made up of Vanilla Ice Cream, Calamansi Sherbet, Almond Crumble, Blueberries and Meringues.

Happy birthday to me, may all my wishes come true.

I'm actually a simple person, I don't need a lavish meal or gift during my birthday. Just spending the day with the people that matters is all that I ask for. But bf always went beyond the mile, he make it a point to bring me to somewhere special during my birthday.

Thanks bf for planning such a memorable celebration for me and the handbag for birthday gift, I felt bad that he has to spend so much for my birthday. Thanks for pampering me, loving me and trying to make me happy. I really appreciate the efforts you put in and everything that you have done for me. The night was just what I want.

Monday 30/7/18

My uncle came to our house and brought my family out for dim sum brunch. He drove us to Geylang to try out 126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi 揾到食.

The eatery served dim sum in a casual setting that resemble Hong Kong. I am missing those days in Hong Kong, I miss going on vacation.

Mummy and I shared a cup of Lime Juice with Sour Plum, it was very refreshing.

Here were some of the dim sum that we tried - Glutinous Chicken Rice, BBQ Pork Bun, Fried Cuttlefish Ball, Shrimp Dumpling and Siew Mai.

More rounds of dim sum - Fried Prawn Roll, Fried Scallop Roll and Crispy Yam Pie.

Grandma was enjoying the dim sum, 126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi is indeed a great place for affordable dim sum and chill out for family gathering. Thanks Uncle for the dim sum treat.

I headed back home for a rest before going out again to meet KP for late lunch. She was on leave today to accompany me out. We will take leave sometimes to accompany each other out as our weekend is often leave for our boyfriends and family.

We went Just Acia @ Marina Square. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki Ramen but I couldn't finish it. I was still feeling full from the brunch. Actually my main objective of coming here was to eat their ice cream.

Despite feeling full, I couldn't resist helping myself to the serving of ice cream. It was the free flow different variety of ice cream that always make me come back to Just Acia.

It's time to work our calories off. We made our way by foot to Singapore Philatelic Museum. They are having The Little Prince Exhibition. The weather didn't look promising, let's not spend too much time at the museum.

Thanks KP for spending the afternoon with me.

Based on the book The Little Prince written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the exhibition celebrates the 75th anniversary of the publication.

The little prince comes from a small planet called Asteroid 325 and he took great care of this planet, preventing any bad seeds from growing. One day, a mysterious rose sprouted on the planet and the little prince fell in love with it. He decided to leave this planet when he caught the rose in a lie one day.

Discovered some of the iconic moments about The Little Prince.

This was a drawing that look like a hat but it was not. It was actually a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. The drawing was trying to explain that children use their imaginations and see the hidden elephant inside the boa constrictor while the adults has the most unimaginative interpretation of seeing the picture as a hat.

Wish upon a star.
When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.
Anything your heart desires will come to you.

Moving on to All About Dogs Children's Exhibition. The exhibition will sniff out what the 2018 Earth Dog year has in store. I was bringing a dog out for picnic.

Looking after 3 dogs at a go, they are so cute. Cute stuffs always caught my attention.

I love dogs. A dog is more than a pet. It uses its keen sense of smell and hearing to provide protection, search and rescue, guide and assistance, and herding for farm animals. They are our best friends.

When the evening came, I went over to GF's office to meet up for birthday dinner. She brought me to SAMA Curry & Cafe at Plaza Singapura for dinner.

SAMA Curry & Cafe is a Japanese restaurant originated from Hokkaido. They serve authentic Japanese soup curry in 4 types of soup base and 3 different spice levels.

We were here early, we managed to reach before 7pm. This explained why the restaurant still looked empty.

I opt for Oink Oink while GF chosen Miso Buta Don.
I selected Shrimp based and spicy level 10. I think the spicy level was too high for me, I need to opt for a lower spice level.

Oink Oink consists of delicious pork, lazing about in SAMA's selected choice of assorted vegetables and half egg. What makes their curry special is their clear curry soup based which is very different from the usual creamy and thick Japanese curry we have. It resembled the Tom Yam soup less the sour portion.

GF also ordered Shrimp Gyoza for sharing. The skin was very crispy and not too hard. We have a great time catching up, sharing about our upcoming overseas trip and next year vacation plan.

Thanks GF for the birthday dinner treat and gift, she is someone who celebrate my birthday with me every year without fail ever since I know her. I cannot be more thankful to have her in my life, someone who will think of me when at overseas and bringing souvenirs back for me, someone who is there for me when I need her and have my back.

Returning home and found the red egg prepared by mummy. Thanks mummy for the yearly tradition.

I have a blissful birthday celebration this year. I don't need a celebration with a circles of friends, all I need is spending my birthday with people who truly care. That's all that matters to me. Lastly, happy birthday to me.

Happenings in July - Dontaku Japanese Restaurant + Blackmores Vitamin E Cream

Thursday 5/7/18

We visited Dolce Tokyo at Bugis Junction for lunch. I miss having lunch here, the lunch promotion here is really a good deal. You can order 1 main course and a drink at only $10.90++.

Dolce Tokyo is under Ministry of Food, a restaurant that offers Japanese-Italian inspired cuisine and coffee in a contemporary, hip and modern setting. It has been a year since my last visit, hopefully I don't need to wait long for my food this time round.

I have Chicken Thigh with Straight Cut Fries.
The grilled chicken thigh was tender and dipped it with mushroom sauce that makes it even more tasty. The layer of skin also contributed to the tastiness.

Saturday 7/7/18

Because last week we did not managed to have Chic-a-boo, we decided to go Marina Square again to satisfy our cravings for it.

Knowing that I love Popcorn Chicken, bf specially got me a plate of popcorn chicken from Chic-a-boo. It was fried to crispy golden brown, but in my opinion, KFC's popcorn chicken still the best.

Sunday 8/7/18

Sunday is usually a stay home day for me. Since we are having dinner at home, we decided to try out Pacific West's frozen food products to pair up with our fried beehoon.

We decided to try out Baby Squids and Cheezy Fish Fillet.
We can enjoy good meal eating at home too.

Helping mummy out with the preparation.
The seasoned baby squids lightly dusted.

The end product.
I love the cheesy fish fillets, it was so delicious with its crispy bread crumbs coated. You can heard the crunchy sound with every bite. The baby squid on the other hand was too chewy that make it a little hard to swallow.

Saturday 14/7/18

Enjoying my last weekend before heading to school next weekend. We decided to head in to Johor Bahru (JB) because I need to replenish some of my items. We went in at our usual timing but the queue was getting horrendous, I started to drag going in if I have to go through such a huge jam every time I went in. 1 counter with multiple lines forming and it can even lead to quarrel or fight sometimes. This is starting to get sickening.

We managed to reach City Square slightly before 6pm. To counter the long hour standing and stuffiness during the queue, our first stop was a dessert stop. I suggested Penang Road Famous TeoChew Chendul since both of us are chendol lovers.

We shared a bowl of Chendol with Mango Ice Cream.
We were smitten by this Malaysian shaved ice dessert where the pandan-flavour palm flour noodles and kidney beans immersed in the coconut milk. Now I know why they are known as Famous TeoChew Chendul.

After rounds of walking, we finally settled at Dontaku Japanese Restaurant for dinner. Located at level 3 Innercity, Dontaku is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in many Japanese delicacies.

We ordered a Chawanmushi (RM7+) for sharing. GST is currently 0%, so the + charge is referring to 10% service charge.
The Chawanmushi was so soft and literally melted in my mouth.

As I was craving for fried chicken and curry, I decided to have Curry Udon with Karaage (RM20+). The Curry Udon was served in a pot to ensure the warmness throughout the meal.  Combined the warmness and the spiciness, the Curry Udon has reached my limit.

We returned back to Singapore after the dinner. Today's route was so jam that it spoiled our day and mood.

Friday 27/7/18

T.G.I.F.
Start of a long weekend.

Thanks Sample Store for sending me the Blackmores Natural Vitamin E Cream for try out.

Blackmores Natural Vitamin E Cream is a rich moisturising cream that helps protect skin from the drying effects of the environment. What I like about this cream is it can be used on face, hand and body, an all in one product.

I applied the cream twice a day, the cream has no artificial colours or fragrances. It contains avocado oil to nourish and soothe skin.

The texture was lightweight and fast absorbed into skin without leaving sticky feel.

Saturday 28/7/18

We dropped by to Orchard as I went to collect my prize from Guardian @ Ngee Ann City.
After the collection, we walked down to Cineleisure for dinner at Pasta Mania.

We have Trio Cheesy Garlic Bread to pair with Cream of Mushroom. The soup was a top up ($2) from our AIA set. With courtesy from Daryl.

I have Cheese Crumble Ham Spaghetti for my main while bf has Al Funghi Spaghetti.

Here's my prize from Guardian, Garnier Micellar Foaming Cleanser.
This All-in-One foaming cleanser is powerful and lift away dirt, oil, and makeup without harsh rubbing or over-drying our skin. It leaves our skin perfectly cleansed and refreshed.

This cleanser comes in handy because my current cleanser is about to finish soon. I will share with you more once I try it.

That's all for update today.
