We ventured to Upper Thomson to try out Filo Bistro, as we were attracted by their uniquely curated Western cuisine infused with local and Asian ingredients, flavours and spices.
The restaurant has an inviting ambience with soft lighting and natural daylight streaming in from the entrance. The elegantly designed seating is thoughtfully spaced out, creating a comfortable and stylish dining environment.
The Ayam Bakar ($24++) was like a artwork with the chicken breast nestled in a pool of dark caramelized sauce, accompanied by achar and finished off with flower petals to create a blend of colours. The dish was impressive and unique.
The Fried Lotus Root ($14++) was another unique dish. Each bite revealed the flavourful combination of minced meat and water chestnut sprinkled with spring onion. The sambal aioli was a great dipping sauce, enhancing the flavours of the dish.
Still not feeling full, we walked over to Knockhouse Cafe that was one street away to have Tater Tots. It was super addictive with its crispy exterior that kept me going back for more.
Saturday 13/7/24
I woke up early on a Saturday to join GF on a green campaign organised by Innisfree, the mission was to walk from Marina Bay to Gardens by the Bay, picking up trash along the way. It was quite a meaningful activity.
In the pouch that we were given, it contained a pair of gloves and a plastic bag for us to collect any trash found. I must say Singapore is very clean, there were only a couple of trash that we picked up.
We were also given Innisfree Green Tea Hyaluronic Moist Sun Serum which we applied to our skin before starting the walk to protect ourselves from the sun. It felt like applying both moisturiser and sunscreen at the same time with the dual function.
We ended off with Waffle and Hazelnut Ice Cream ($7.80+). The texture of the waffle was good, it was crispy on the outside while remaining light and fluffy inside. The sweet hazelnut flavour complemented the waffle, I felt satisfied after the dessert.
