Movie Review: When Ghost Meets Zombie

With Valentine's Day approaching, let love and romance fill the air.
Bring your loved ones, family and friends to cinema theatre to catch the comedy and romance movie 'When Ghost Meets Zombie' this Valentine's Day 2019.

This is Singapore’s first ghost-zombie romance comedy directed by Han Yew Kwang, starring sensational singer song-writer and and an array of popular local actors:
- Nathan Hartono
- Ferlyn G
- Jessica Liu
- Jeremy Chan
- Fann Wong
- Gurmit Singh
- Andie Chen
- Kate Pang

Let's show support to our local production.
Watch the trailer here.

Release Date: 14-02-2019
Running Time: 107 minutes

I have the opportunity to watch the preview screening with special thanks to Clover Films for the movie invitation.

The movie tells the story of Pong (Nathan) who sacrifices his life when saving his town from a disaster. He turns into a zombie and controls by the priest who used these zombies to earn extra income.

To realise her dream, Zhen Zhen (Ferlyn) runs away from home to beauty pageant. Zhen Zhen, whose pet phrase is “If you have no dreams, you are no different from a walking zombie.” believes one should live life to its fullest. The beauty pageant finalists then travel to Thailand for photo shoot at Pong's hometown. During this trip, Zhen Zhen was drowned before she realises her dream of clinching the title in a beauty pageant.and become a female ghost where she meets the mechanical and aimless zombie.

Hilarious drama unfolds when Zhen Zhen possesses Pong to fulfil her pageant dreams and forces him to join a “Mr Perfect” competition.

The movie contains many visual effects that makes the content hilarious, especially the scenes of the priest played by Gurmit Singh. He is the most funniest priest that I ever seen, all his scenes are amusing.

The zombie that we normally see in the shows has got no memories and no feeling, but Pong proved to be different. With the power of love, even a zombie like Pong could slowly regain his feeling and wants to love again.

Besides love, the movie also encourages us to chase our dreams. A person without a dream is a zombie, you have no life, nothing to look forward to and everyday is just doing routine work. A dream gives us a target to look forward to and motivation to work towards our goals. It is what we are living for. So let's chase our dream and we will get there.

The movie has many scenes that triggered our emotions. I rarely cried when watching movie, at most it was watery eyes but my tears never dropped out. However, my tears has escaped from my eyes and flow down my cheeks while watching When Ghost Meets Zombie. The movie hits the high notes on my emotional state.

After the movie, the casts make a special appearance and have interactions with the audience. Say hello to Jeremy Chan, Nathan Hartono and Ferlyn G.

Catch 'When Ghost Meets Zombie' during this Valentine's Day, it's a movie that guaranteed you laughter and tears.

Happenings in October - The Sampan Grand Launch + A Star Is Born + The Edwards Twins Show

Tuesday 9/10/18

It has been a month since I last saw GF, I took this opportunity to catch up with her when she asked me along for Wang Chao Chicken Essence launch event held at Arteastiq Bistro @ Plaza Singapura.
We enjoyed some light bites at the event, my favourite fruit tarts were also available.

Photo from GF.
Finally I have the time to meet up with her after my busy period.

Friday 12/10/18

Friday is finally here again, it's also the time we traveled out for lunch to Plaza Singapura.

We went Nando's for lunch and I have 1/4 Chicken with 1 Regular Side and a Bottomless Soft Drink ($12.90++). I opt for potato wedges as my regular side.

That night, I met up with GF, Jeremy and CK for the grand lunch of The Sampan, the three-storey Restaurant & Bar is the latest dining destination located in the heart of Boat Quay.

There was also an hour long of Lion and Dragon Dance performance to bring wealth and luck for The Sampan.
We went up to the third level which is the bar to chill and relax. Each of us ordered a glass of cocktail, I had Hendricks Redbull Lime Soda. Some canapes were served too.

We left The Sampan at about 9pm to have our dinner as we were hungry. We went to BK Eating House which was just located nearby.

I ordered Roti Prata for dinner, I had 1 plain and 1 egg prata at $2.50. Prata is one of the comfort food that I enjoyed eating, especially when dipping the dough into the curry. It tasted so great.

Friday 19/10/18

We welcome our weekend with a hearty lunch on Friday's lunch. We went to our regular makan place, Yayoi @ Liang Court.

I had Teriyaki Chicken Teishoku ($13.90++) where the chicken chop was served in teriyaki sauce. The meat was very tender and tasted flavourful together with the sauce.

Saturday 20/10/18

Headed over to VivoCity to catch a movie. Before the movie started, we went for dinner at Tai Lei Loi Kei.

I have tried on the Pork Chop Noodle previously, hence this time round, I tried on Bouncy Noodle with Chicken Chop ($7.90+). The bowl comes with a generous portion of meat which was really satisfying.

It was both our first time watching movie at Golden Village’s Gold Class cinema. Thanks DBS for the movie vouchers, I used the voucher for the movie, A Star Is Born. The theatre was a small and cosy one with only 24 seats. We enjoyed the movie sitting on Nappa leather-clad recliners with a Gold Class blanket, it was so comfortable.

A Star Is Born tells a love story of between a musician, Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper), and a young singer-to-be, Ally (LAdy Gaga). She was about to give up her dream until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But as Ally's career takes off, their relationship is breaking down as Jack is battling drug and alcohol addiction.

I never know that Lady Gaga could act so well, bringing the character out. Their vocal performance was amazing, I found my new favourite duet song from the movie. It has a sad ending, two person in love can't be together and everyone was tearing. How do I know was because while I was at the toilet, all the ladies in the toilet were crying their heart out while queuing for their turn.

Monday 22/10/18

Today was yet another relaxing day at Bay Easy Garden.

We always love traveling to see the beautiful scenery that the country offers, but before I go on that trip, let's see the beautiful scenery that my country offers.

Wednesday 24/10/18

I met up with GF for dinner at HarbourFront Centre before making our way to Resorts World Sentosa for a show. We took this opportunity to share with each other our upcoming staycation or trip as well as heart to heart talk. Lately, I felt that my life has been piled up with many uncertainty and insecurity, I need a listening ears to share my problems before these problems start to engulf me.

Together with Linda, we were now inside Resorts World Theatre for The Edwards Twins Show. It's been a long time since I last met Linda which was during GF's solemnization in February. Thanks GF for the tickets.

Meet the Edwards Twins, Las Vegas’ number one impersonators of all time.
Many legendary superstars come alive that night with each star singing their number 1 hits.

Thursday 25/10/18

I met up with GF again to attend a briefing. Both of us were selected for a 8 weeks campaign with SU:M37°. The briefing was held at Centennial Tower.

I have a great view of our iconic Singapore Flyer, it was a feast for our eyes. We slowly watched the view changed as the sky turned from blue to dark.

We have some light refreshment before the start of the briefing. The refreshment tasted really nice, I love the tarts especially.

Su:m37 is a naturally fermented skincare brand that contains the vitality of nature. Su:m means “to breathe” in Korean while 37 represent the optimal human body temperature. The essence that goes into every su:m37 product is derived from extract of more than 80 types of local plant varieties and maintained at a temperature of 37˚C throughout the one year. What beats letting our skin absorbed the natural ingredients and feel good from within.

My first thought about su:m37 is that it must be another raving brands because K-beauty brands have always been the best selling products in the market. Secret Essence is definitely Su:m37’s star products. Secret Essence helps to strengthen the original power of our skin, allowing our skin to wake up every day with the condensed secret energy of natural fermentation and creating silky skin texture.

Friday 26/10/18

The weekend is about to come, I have been looking forward and not so looking forward to this weekend.

We went to Cafe & Meal MUJI @ Plaza Singapura for lunch again. This time round, I opt for Sakura Chicken with Curry Miso and Dried Chilli (hot deli) and Smoked Duck and Honey Sesame Duo Sweet Potato Salad (cold deli).

Saturday 27/10/18

Finally comes the day for my final presentation. There were a total of 9 classes, so 9 groups will be presenting. After drawing lots, we were the third group to present. This cohort was really a competitive one, every group was out there to win and the audience kept shooting questions to the presenting group (because of participation marks). I'm glad we did it, we conquered our fear to present in front of 200 people.

Our school catered a lunch bento for us. Our class started at 9am and ended at 3.30pm.

A group photo with my team - Wee Ern, Henry, Jing Rui and I. Missing Nisha who left after the lunch and Say Loong who couldn't join us for the presentation. Good job, guys. We are finally done with the hardest module.

We have our dinner at Ajisen Ramen. We ordered the ramen set which comes with a drink and side dish, we selected Fried Gyoza and Fried White Fish.

I had Chicken Cutlet Miso Ramen ($17.90++).
Ajisen Ramen is famous for its rich pork broth which captures the essence after hours of boiling, it brought out the flavour of the broth.

Wednesday 31/10/18

I met up with Jeremy for lunch today, it's been a long time since we last have lunch together. We had lunch at our Sunny Japanese @ The Central.

I have Teriyaki Chicken Rice.
Thanks Jeremy for the lunch treat, my treat next time.

Happenings in October - Kaneta Shoten + St Marc Cafe + Chasing the Dragon Movie Review

Sunday 1/10/17

Hello October. Every month there is something made me look forward to, it gives us energy to press on everyday.
Revisit Chinese Garden.

I was wearing a matching outfit that comes in a set of shirt and short when I purchased from Bangkok at 150 baht. I love this outfit because I don't need to worry on what to match it with. Great to wear it out on a casual outing where we can look chic and comfortable. The outfit also made me look slim too.

Such a beautiful sight, how can I resist how to take photo of it?
Stunning view always capture my attention.

We then went over to Chinatown for dinner. It was the weekend before mid-autumn festival, there was a walk going on and MP, Lily Neo, was among the crowds for the walk too.

Monday 2/10/17

We tried out a new dining place at Chinatown Point today. It was a newly opened ramen shop, Kaneta Shoten, a place that served authentic and modern Japanese style ramen.

I ordered Tonkotsu (Pork Bone) Ramen which has a thick broth made from boiling pork bones and collagen over heat for more than 20 hours, creating a hearty flavour. The broth was flavourful and I slurp all the way until I reached my last strand of ramen.

The pork was firm and the ramen was chewy. Together with the broth, they whole bowl was just perfect.

I met up with Linda after my work for dinner get together. Though my birthday has already past, Linda still make the effort to meet up with me to surprise me with dessert treat and present. I always feel happy receiving presents and treats. Due to our busy schedules, we always celebrate belated birthdays. Though it was 2 months late, we will always squeeze out time for each other to have dinner together, better late than never.

We have a quick dinner at Long John Silver before proceeding for desserts.

Linda has brought me to St Marc Cafe for dessert, they are famous for their croissants which Linda enjoyed very much. We ordered a strawberry croissant. The croissant was simple and delicious, it has a crispy crust and flaky texture on the outer while the inner was soft and contained a buttery taste.

We ordered green tea snowy ice and ice cream, a cool treat to end off our Monday blues. The dessert was sweet, creamy and cooling.

Ready to dig in.

We chosen a corner seat at St Marc Cafe where we tucked ourselves comfortably in the cozy setting and lazed our night.

Knowing each other for 6 years, we have not went overseas for once. So that night, we decided to plan a short weekend trip to JB during December. Can't wait for the trip.

Thursday 12/10/17
I met up with GF yesterday and she got me some souvenirs from Phuket. Thanks for the gifts and thinking of me when you were at overseas.

Today's lunch was at Soon Huat Dining House at Chinatown Point. It was my first time trying out at this dining place that specializes in Chinese and local signature dishes.

I ordered Hokkien Mee that was served in a dark sauce, I still prefer the our usual Hokkien mee that this dark sauce noodle. It tasted salty and not to my liking. I won't go for this again.

Saturday 14/10/17

We went to RWS in the late afternoon because I wanted to captured some photographs for my photography assignment. I took up digital photography technique course and one of my assignments required me to take capture photograph using a few concepts such as pattern, frame, silhouette and etc.

After I was done with the photography, we went back to VivoCity for dinner before our movie start. We went back to Central Hong Kong Cafe for dinner.

I had Hong Kong Rickshaw Noodle 車仔麵. I didn't have the chance to try this when I was in Hong Kong, so I decided to try it now. The ingredients in it consists of Braised Chicken Wing, Stewed Egg, Pig Skin, Curry Fishball, Crabstick, Radish and Sausage. The ingredients complemented well together.

**

Chasing the Dragon is a movie about smoking heroin. After many encounters, Ho the once good-natured man become physically crippled while saving Chief Detective Sergeant, Lee Rock (Andy Lau). Since then, Ho corrupts with Rock to become most powerful drug lord.

What goes around come around. One should never do anything that is illegal. If karma doesn't strike you, it might strike on the people dearest to you. Chasing the Dragon is quite a violent movie, not a movie for weak hearted person.

Friday 20/10/17

Today lunch was a joyful one. We were back to Chinatown Complex Food Centre for their wide variety hawker food.

We love their Xiao Long Bao, it was soak with the goodness of the broth that leave us wanting for more. Lunch was a wonderful affair and leave me feeling bloated.

Saturday 21/10/17

With slightly less than a month to my exam, I am starting to prep myself for the exam. Starting from now on, I spent my time staying at home during weekend and my free time for intensive study to revise on my 2 upcoming papers.

I only went out for dinner during evening time on my Saturday. We have McDonald for dinner. Samurai burger is back, so I decided to have a try on it. I have never try Samurai burger before.

The sesame buns was sandwiched with juicy grilled chicken patty, covered in teriyaki sauce and flanked with crisp lettuce. It can be very messy eating it as the sauce will be dripping all over. One try is enough for me.

I ended my dinner with a sweet corn cone ice cream at $1, the soft serve corn flavour ice cream. It tasted very creamy and smooth, but corn flavour is not really to my liking.
Time to head home and continue my revision.

Thursday 26/10/17

I went over to Merlion Park during evening to capture landscape pictures for my photography project.
After I was done with the shoot, we went to Lau Pa Sat for dinner.

I have Thai omelette rice for dinner. Bf thought it will not be full enough for me so he added another sunny side up.

Today was a happy day because our next overseas trip is confirmed. We just booked our Taiwan's air ticket and accommodation for January 2018. Yes, the main thing has settled, next is to plan our itinerary. Taiwan trip is coming in 3 more months. We are so looking forward.

Friday 27/10/17

GF and I met up regularly for lunch especially on Friday. We spent our time catching up about our latest happening and sharing on our upcoming overseas trip plans. We always went to our usual hangout place for lunch at Okg Express (Chinatown Point). We love their affordable menu price and it was not a very crowded place.

Both of us have Curry Chicken rice for lunch at $5.70. We love it very much, the curry was flavourful and not too spicy. I kept scooping the gravy and drizzled it on my plate of rice and pair it with the tender flesh of the chicken. It was a delicious lunch.

Sharing stops here, I will be back with more.
