Scalp Treatment Review: Japan Hair Growth Consultants (JHGC) at Shaw Centre

It feel so good to be finally stepping out of house after one month of staying home. Ever since working from home, my stress level has reached all time high and I have feeling very tensed up. Other than work, I experienced tough times on personal issues. I observed that my hair fall have becoming more serious and calling for red alert.

Thanks GF for the recommendation, I visited Japan Hair Growth Consultants (JHGC) located at Shaw Centre Level 4 to try out their scalp treatment and relieve the stress on my scalp.

JHGC by Aderans is the pioneer of Japan's hair restoration and hair growth industry, they have brought the hair growth technology to Singapore. If you are facing hair loss and hair thinning problems, JHGC by Aderans has advanced hair care to tackle our issues.

My visit began with a scalp analysis by the consultant to analyse the hair problems that I am currently facing: oily scalp and hair thinning.

The consultant explained the benefit of scalp treatment and each step of scalp treatment in details. With the scalp being deep cleansed, it promotes hair growth and strength the hair.

I love the layout of the hair salon such that customer can have our own space in the individual partition seating, perfect for privacy.

The 6 steps scalp treatment is approximately 2 hours and include the following steps:

1. Apply scalp care agent "Ang Water" to promote hair growth.

The Ang Water is developed by their proprietary technology, the therapist sprayed the alkaline water on the scalp to stimulate hair growth.

2. Open pores by far-infrared steam.

By steaming for 10 minutes, it helped to open up the pores on the scalp and allow sebum deep in the pores to resurface.

3. Sebum massage to rub out the sebum clogged in pores that has been resurfaced by the effect of steam.

The thing I enjoyed best was definitely the scalp massage, which massaged every pressure point to resurface the clogged sebum and improve blood circulation. It was so comfortable and relaxing with the soothing music being played that I almost fell asleep.

4. Amino acid-based shampoo for cleansing.

The shampoo helped to cleanse away the sebum resurfaced by massage.

5. Apply hair tonic to promote growth and increase IGF production.

After the hair wash, the therapist applied Benefage Scalp Grow which contains active ingredients that penetrates to the deepest pores promoting hair growth and strengthening hair root. After the application, the therapist performed a short massage to ensure that the hair tonic get absorbed into the scalp.

6. Refresh the scalp with ozone irradiation for strong hair.

Irradiated with ozone helped to refresh the scalp and strengthen the hair. The key to reduce hair loss is to maintain a clean and healthy scalp, so that new hair can grow and existing hair can be strengthened.

In just one session, I can see from the analysis that my scalp is cleaner and less oily with excess sebum being discharged out. I’m gonna mark JHGC in my to go list for scalp treatment in future.

JHGC is currently have a promotion for first trial at $58 inclusive of scalp analysis (U.P. $160.50). Quote “Shuqing” to enjoy a further $10 discount. Alternatively, you can opt for 2x trail at a promotion price of $89 ($10 discount not applicable).

After seeing the result, I am more motivated to take care of my scalp more diligently and going for regular scalp treatment.

IDS Journey: Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment at IDS

I made my third visit to IDS for review and laser treatment.

My skin condition has improved significantly from my last visit in March, thanks to IDS Skincare products and  the Hydro Therapeutics Treatment I did at IDS Aesthetics. The facial helped to remove the dead skin and impurities, allowing better absorption of skincare products and revealing a healthier skin. During my consultation, IDS has recommended me for Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment that will help to treat me acne and enlarged pores. Before we began, the procedure of the laser treatment was explained to me.

What is laser treatment?

This is my first time doing a laser treatment, hence the term is not familiar to me.

LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, which make use of various wavelengths of light to penetrate into the dermis of the skin to treat different skin concerns.

Preparation for the laser treatment

I was being brought to the treatment room for the preparation. We began with Cleansing of skin.

I decided to skip the numbing cream since the staff shared that the discomfort from the laser is actually bearable for Carbon Dioxide Laser. The numbing effect will last for an hour to two and I'm afraid it might hinder my daily activities, so I opt out numbing cream.

After Cleansing, a layer of Carbon Lotion was applied to my skin. The carbon will draw out the oil and dirt from the clogged pores.

After the application, the laser treatment began.

A short video on the process.

The laser was scanned over on the areas that the carbon lotion was applied. The laser will remove the carbon together with the impurities being absorbed by the carbon, revealing a brighter skin after the deep exfoliation.

The lasers heated up the inner layers of the skin which stimulated a healing response of the skin to produce more collagen and elastin.

Even without numbing cream, the discomfort level was mild and gentle, it feel like an insect bite and experienced warm sensation experienced the laser was activated. The session was done within 10 minutes.

Right after the laser treatment, my skin brightened up with instant glow and some of my acne marks have become slightly lighter in just one session. However, to see a more visible improvement, one will need to undergo a series of monthly sessions (from 5 to 10 sessions).

Before I left, IDS was so sweet to replenish some of my daily skincare products.

For the next one week, I experienced rashes and bumps on my face. This is actually normal after doing laser treatment because the deeper the laser penetrate into the tissue of our skin, the longer recovery period is required.

This is when IDS Skincare products come in handy, I applied the skincare products more generously on my skin at the affected areas and it healed in a week.

My 3 month IDS journey has been a fulfilling one, this is definitely improvement shown. My skin has become more hydrated, those big angry red spots has diminished and become lighter, thanks to IDS Skincare, facial and laser done at IDS.

I will continue to maintain my skin with IDS Skincare products, they have become one of my favourite skincare brands.

Thank you IDS for having me to embark on this wonderful IDS Journey.

IDS Journey: Hydro Therapeutics Treatment at IDS Aesthetics

I made my second visit to IDS for doctor review and a pampering facial that I am in need of.

With the heatiness that has accumulating in my body due to having too much Chinese New Year cookies, it resulted in skin breakouts recently. During my consultation with Dr Michelle Wong, she assessed my issues and prescribed me a new product, Blemish Clear (BC), to be incorporated into my night skincare regime. Dr Michelle has also recommended Hydro Therapeutics Treatment (HTT) which will help to clear up my skin.

Shortly after the consultation, I was led to IDS Aesthetics who offers medically and technologically advanced treatments targeting at our skin woes within shortest possible time, and brought into one of the many rooms for my treatment.

HTT is a quick 60 minute treatment suitable for all skin types, recommended for people with clogged pores and blackheads. The deep cleansing treatment removes accumulated dirt, product build-up and clogged sebum, giving us a crystal clear skin after the treatment.

The facial treatment started with Double Cleansing to remove the dirt and sebum on my skin.

Next was Microdermabrasion which make use of a gentle vacuum device to suck out the dead skin cells on the skin surface and minimise clogged pores, to prepare my skin for the extraction. No discomfort experienced.

It was followed by Ultrasonic Cleansing to exfoliate, loosen the stubborn blackheads and whiteheads stuck in the pores, the treatment was gentle and comfortable on skin. I was silently hoping that this could be longer because I was dragging the process coming up next.

The Extraction was the only part that I have to endure the pain throughout, no complain on that because the end result of the extraction will be a clean skin and clogged pores are removed.

The tough part was over and time to truly enjoy the facial. The therapist used Ultrasonic Penetration of Vitamin C, allowing my skin to absorb the Vitamin C essence for skin soothing, healing the blemish and promote skin radiance.

As my skin is prone to acne, the therapist applied a cooling anti-acne Mask. The mask was freezing cold because the mask was taken out from the fridge. It was very cooling but comfortable, it helped to soothe and nourish my skin, reduced the redness from extraction and keep my skin hydrated.

The facial ended off with the application of Moisturizer and Sunscreen. My skin felt clean after the blackheads and whiteheads were de-clogged, immediately my skin looked refreshing and oil free.

With the new Blemish Clear being prescribed to me, there is a change in my night skincare regime.

Current night skincare regime:
Step 1. (C1) Refreshing Cleanser
Step 2: (T1) Refreshing Toner
Step 3: (PF) Pore Formula
Step 4: (C+) C-Plus
Step 5: (OM) Oil-Free Moisturizer

New night skincare regime:
Step 1. (C1) Refreshing Cleanser
Step 2: (T1) Refreshing Toner
Step 3: (C+) C-Plus (Change in sequence from step 4 to step 3)
Step 4: (BC) Blemish Clear (Replace with Pore Formula which will be used in the day regime)
Step 5: (OM) Oil-Free Moisturizer

(BC) Blemish Clear

This product is suitable for people with active breakouts and blemishes. It helps to treat active and inflamed pimples and prevents new breakouts. BC has a more creamy texture that should be applied only on affected areas.

BC definitely helps to control my acne breakouts. I did not experience new breakouts and current acnes are healing. My skin also get less sensitive as compared to using the previous skincare regime.

After going through the facial and incorporated the new skincare regime, I noticed the visible red spots are becoming smaller after 2 weeks of following the new skincare regime. Will show you the result for the subsequent weeks in my next IDS post.

I enjoy going facial once in awhile. Not only because of the pampering treatment, it helps to deep cleanse my skin, eliminate the blackheads and whiteheads (clean pores), allow new skin cells to grow and better absorption of skincare products.

You can visit IDS Skincare website for more about their products or IDS Aesthetics website if you wish to find out more about the different types of facial treatment available!

Hair Spa Review: Le Hair Spa

Congratulations to Le Hair Spa on the grand opening.

I attended the grand opening of Le Hair Spa that took place on 20 August 2017. The salon is situated along Buit Timah Road, 5-8 minutes walk away from Little India MRT station. Le Hair Spa is not an unfamiliar brand for me, they are under the same company as Le Spa, a 24hrs Massage Parlour.

The salon has a sophisticated and posh interior that made me feel very welcoming, as though I have entered a royal palace. Behind the reception desk is this area that can accommodate 6 customers to have their hair services. Initially I thought that's pretty much about the area of the salon. Little did I know, there was a walkway that could lead us to the second level of the salon.

The salon was very spacious and stylish, every decoration made the place looked luxurious. Be prepare to have a pampering session when you come here for their hair services. What is even better is they have nice place for you to take photos after your treatment. Lots of opportunity for selfie and OOTD.

The staircase was everybody's favourite spot for photo taking.

On the second level, there were many private rooms available that customers can have their treatment session in private. The room I was showing you was for single customer private room, no extra charges for using the private room. Nevertheless, it is subjected to availability.

Thanks GF for the photo.
We were at the launch and scheduled our hair spa appointment together.

There was one couple room available where you can have hair treatment together with your friend or loved ones. Besides that, Le Hair Spa has a smoking room for customers who want to smoke.

With GF at the grand opening, we can't wait to try out their hair services.
We will come back again soon.

Check out the list of hair services and the price Le Hair Spa is offering.
Le Hair Spa provides a variety of services for the purpose of improving beauty, personal care and relaxation through salon-standard hair treatments and experienced stylists.

GF and I were back to Le Hair Spa again to try out their Hair Spa ($50 for 60 minutes session) that consists of massage, hair wash and scalp treatment. We were given a couple room where we enjoyed the treatment in private.

The room has an elegant interior and soft lighting that makes it perfect for massage later, so the lighting will not be glaring when we lied down.

As I was wearing shorts that day, my stylist, Vera, passed me a towel for me to cover my legs. So thoughtful.

Our hair spa started off with a 30 minutes massage from back and shoulder massage to head and followed by hand.

The chair can be adjusted to sitting and lying down position.

The massage was just what I did to help me released stress, I came straight down to Le Hair Spa after my weekend class ended. The massage was so comfortable ease the tension I had from my hectic lifestyle. I used the massage time to have a good rest too.

Feel so good after the massage, back to sitting position.

Time for hair wash, we all have the same action.
Le Hair Spa used L’Oreal Professional shampoo. The stylist used generous amount of shampoo on out head that created a foamy head. It thoroughly cleaned our scalp that prep us for scalp treatment later on. While washing our hair, Vera also gave me a good head massage till I secretly don't want the hair wash to end.

We then walked over to another room to rinse off the shampoo.

Back to the room for the scalp treatment after my hair was thoroughly cleaned.

The stylist then applied serum directly to the scalp. After which, the stylist massage my head to allow better absorption of the serum. The serum helped to achieve denser looking hair.

My treatment was all done after blow drying of hair.
My hair was utterly smooth and straight after the treatment.

Having a healthy scalp is important for healthy hair growth, it complements our overall appearance too, making us look great and confidence.

I have a good 1.5 hours hair treatment at Le Hair Spa. The hair spa treatment placed a lot of emphasis on massaging that was truly relaxing. I just ease myself and let the stylist carried out the process. The massage was really good and left the salon with clean and fresh looking hair.

Thanks Le Hair Spa for the complimentary hair spa.
