Crayon Shinchan, the mischievous five years old boy, is one of my favourite teenagehood cartoon characters. Knowing that the theme for Kumoya pop up cafe at Jalan Klapa is Crayon Shinchan, the cafe has been on my top food list to visit.
This marked my first visit to Kumoya cafe. Kumoya changes their theme every few months so that the diners will not be bored with the same design and food. Right from the entrance, you will be drawn by their eye catching character decorations.
Kumoya cafe feels like it has brought me straight to Crayon Shinchan's world. The team has put in lots of effort in the theme with the striking wallpaper and interior decoration. It was indeed a feast for the eyes and camera.
Merchandise available for purchase at the counter. Ordering of food and payment will have to be made at the counter first.
I had the main course featuring Shinchan's family dog, Shiro And The Lucky Stars Ebi Burger.
The Ebi burger was served with a fluffy Shiro mantou, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese, accompanied by golden fried Stars Hash Brown from Shinchan's favourite snack, Chocobi box!
One characteristic of Kumoya cafe is that the food and drinks are served in the character themed, making it photo worthy despite the steeper price compared to other cafes. The efforts put in to create such an appealing plating make the price worthwhile.
Piak! Piak! Matcha Frappe was filled with chocolate sauce and whipped cream, and toppled with custard pudding that was in the shape of Crayon Shinchan's backside. The chocolate sauce added sweetness (but not overly sweet) to the bitter matcha taste.
Cute cushion available at every table. The vibes of the cafe made me feel like I have been transported to the cartoon world where everything was simple, definitely an Instagram-worthy place to visit.
