Granny's 80th Birthday at Golden Spoon Seafood Restaurant

This year is Granny's 80th birthday. We were so happy that she was able to attend this birthday celebration and she is recovering well since her discharge from hospital last week. This year celebration was held at Golden Spoon Seafood Restaurant, a place that we are trying for the first time.

I made my own way to the restaurant right after I finished Skechers Friendship Walk 2019. I reached the restaurant as nearly 7.30pm because there was road block at Chinatown due to lantern festival light up and I have to go by another route to the venue.

By the time I reached, they were already having the second dish. Thankfully my family have saved the food for me.

The third dish was Bee Hoon, something filling for us.

Next was Fish Maw Soup.

My favourite Salted Egg Prawn. The crunchy prawns coated with salted egg yolk were fried till golden brown, the dish has win the heart of mine.

Steamed Fish in HK Style.
I liked that the meat of the fish was sweet and tender, the down side was that it has many fine bones, so must be careful when consumed.

More dishes were added to our table - Broccoli with Mushroom, Coffee Pork Rib and Chilli Crab with Mantou. We were already full after we finished these lot of food.

Bro has a very stunned looking face after the waiter served another plate of Black Pepper Crab to our table. We took a little break and walked around to chit chat and digest the food before coming back for this black pepper crab.

The VIP aka the elder's table.

Little Xin Ru helping to clean the chair with her wet tissue. She must be a greater helper at home too.

The last dish was Teochew O-ni Gingko Nut which wasn't something I fancy. I'm not a fan of O-ni.

Vivien sis has ordered this 2 tier agar agar birthday jelly cake specially for granny. The jelly looked too cute to be eaten. This birthday cake is suitable for the elderly who doesn't like the traditional sweet dessert cake.

Happy birthday, Granny.
May you stay strong and healthy, and many more years to come.

You might be wondering why my post title indicated 80th birthday but the candles indicated 81th instead. That is because 81th is granny's chinese age.

Four generation celebrating granny's birthday together. More and more kiddos joining our big family.

Amber and Aiden looking so fascinated with granny cutting the cake.
May all your wishes come true.

Here's how the agar agar jelly cake looked on the inside.

Family dinner has always been a sumptuous one, this one is not an exception. We enjoyed having good food and gather over a meal. I supposed the next gathering will be Chinese New Year, see you guys till then.

Happenings in November - Fish Tales + Quinn's 100 Days Celebration + Art Jamming

Sunday 4/11/18

For my weekend in November, I just spent my time at home revising for my upcoming exam if there is no gathering. But this evening, I was heading to my cousin's place for his house warming party at Bedok. We were one of the earliest guests to reach because my parents were the anxious who want to reach early for all family gathering.

Soon after the buffet was setup, we proceeded for early dinner. Eat fast so that we can make space for others to eat at the table later on. The catering has quite a yummy spread.

After the dinner, I went to Aiden's play room for a rest as the living room was crowded with people. Aiden was glued to his show too and sat down obediently to watch.

Tuesday 6/11/18

It's Deepavali, a public holiday for us. I took this opportunity to meet up with Linda in town to plan on our upcoming trip and she also passed me my belated birthday gifts.

Since Orchard is crowded with people during lunch hours, I recommended to have our lunch at Scape, we settled for Fish Tales. I have chosen this place because the price on menu is net price, no GST and service charge.

Thanks Linda for being on and agree to go on this overseas trip even though I jio you just a month before the trip. I'm glad to have friends like you who placed me on priority and make plans for me.

I ordered Cheese Karaage Pasta ($8.90).
For the price paid, the pasta tasted good, the fried chicken toppled with cheese was savoury and addictive. I have a soft spot for fried food, every bits of the ingredients were finished.

Everything was settled and just waiting for the time to come.

Bak Ku Teh for dinner with my folks. Since it was only 3 of us, mummy suggested to dine out.

We ordered back the same food again - Spare Ribs Soup, Braised Pork Knuckle, Fried Beancurd Skin with Fish Paste, Chye Sim in Oyster Sauce and Fried Dough Stick. Total billing was $44.90 for 3 pax.

Saturday 10/11/18

Took a break from my intensive study to head out for chill out with friends and family today. Met up with my blogger friends for a tasting in the afternoon at Lim Spring Court.

I went for an afternoon tea break at Forty Hands.

It was my first visit to this cafe located at Yong Siak Street. The cafe is decorated in an eclectic style to reflect the neighbourly vibe, providing a comfy corners to enjoy with friends in a neighbourhood.

I have a cup of Chamomile Tea ($5.50). I can't wait for school holiday so that I don't need to think about the revision even when I'm outside. An hour of tea break before I head home, thanks Ivan for the drink.

Nearer to evening time, my family went up to my K's place for dinner. Most of my cousins already have their own residential properties. Took this opportunity to tour around K's new condo.

Mummy cooked beehoon and we tabao rojak and chicken wings over to my cousin's place for dinner. Lucky we prepared the food instead of dine out because it was raining so heavily that day until their basement carpark experienced flooding.

Sitting at the balcony and enjoying the view after the dinner.

Dessert after the dinner, I have Double Chocolate Jwel Ice Cream, it's been quite awhile since I last have Jwel Ice Cream.

Sunday 11/11/18
It was also JY's daughter, Quinn's 100 days celebration. The new addition to the family. They have booked a function room at one of their friends's condo. These 2 weekends were like a gathering week for us.

Her daughter is so cute and chubby.

My yummy lunch selection from the spread. Time to dig in.

Honeydew sago for dessert, I love this so much that I have 2 rounds during the time I was at the function room. Despite feeling well, I just couldn't resist it.

Friday 16/11/18

Counting down another week to my exam, my last week of intensive study and off I go for my holiday vacation right after.

I have Lean Bento for lunch. My selection comes with baked skinless honey chicken, scrambled eggs, high-fibre sesame bun, air-flown mesclun salad, air-fried sweet potato tots, homemade miso sauce.

We have an art jamming session in the afternoon where we just create a painting using brushes and colours. Art Jamming is a fresh new initiative that boosts creativity, nurture patience and foster interactions among participants. Each of us were given a Van Gogh and some brushes. My team of 8 will need to think of an image to draw and come together to form a big picture using our 8 Van Gogh.

My team has googled a photo of animals in a sunset scenery. In my Van Gogh, I was in charge of drawing the animals and the sun. Here's my drawing which I drew using pencil. The next step was to get the drawing coloured.

Work in progress.

My artwork after 1.5 hours of painting. Each of us in charge of different part of the painting and lastly come together to form a full picture.

My master piece.
I never knew we could create such a master piece when we first started painting this. Looking at it made us feel satisfied and prideful. I truly enjoyed myself in the entire process of painting, it just feel so relax and calm, a whole new experience. Of course, this couldn't be complete without teamwork. Team effort is very important in whatever things we do.

This was the masterpiece of another team which I liked very much. It was so colourful and the colour blended well together.

Tuesday 20/11/18

Today was my last working day, the next one week I will be taking leave for my exam and my overseas trip.

We rewarded ourselves to a good meal before I go on leave, we have our lunch at Nana Green Tea. Instead of the usual, I decided to try on Teriyaki Chicken set. I always eat until so full that could last me all the way till the night whenever I dine at Nana Green Tea.

I shall end my post here. Gonna prepare for my exam next Friday and immediately the next day I will be flying off. Stay tuned for my Ho Chi Minh's trip.

Happenings in September - Disney Tsum Tsum Mid-Autumn + Sentosa Sandsation: Marvel Edition + Granny's 79th Birthday

Saturday 1/9/18

September has approached, we are in the last quarter of 2018. I have been looking forward to the last quarter because vacation are coming. We went to Bugis Junction today after we settled some matters.

KFC is having promotion where Zinger Buddy Meal consisting of zinger burger and 3 piece chicken is only at the price of $12.95. We upgraded the mash potato and salad to cheese fries, and we eat until super full.

Since we were feeling so full, we decided to take a walk from Bugis to City Hall. Along the way, we passed by War Memorial Park, this memorial. The Civilian War Memorial is made up of 4 pillars which commemorates these civilian victims of World War II in Singapore and the unity of Singapore’s four main races—Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian.

Wednesday 5/9/18

Today's lunch was at the usual restaurant that we patronized at Nana Green Tea @ Plaza Singapura. I always ordered Nanban Chicken, so this time round, I ordered something different.

I ordered Karaage Chicken set ($13.99++) that comes with a miso soup, main course and a drink. The fried chicken was coated well with the thick curry gravy. The spicy level for the curry was a mild one, which make it suitable for everyone including those who does not take spicy food.

Saturday 8/9/18

Done with another presentation. I didn't done well for my part because suddenly my mind went blank halfway presenting and I forget what I was supposed to say. I need to buck up for my next presentation.

After my lesson, I went to VivoCity's Sky Park for Disney Tsum Tsum Mid-Autumn Celebration Of Love. Here I was at the Fairytale Garden.

Stepping foot in the romantic garden where the tree was decorated with many cute disney lanterns.
The adorable Disney and Disney-Pixar Tsum Tsum attracted fans of all ages to celebrate the festive season together with our favourite Disney character.

Passing through the 40m long Tunnel of Love featuring Disney Tsum Tsum lanterns of over 30 different Disney and Pixar characters.

While walk through this beautiful lit tunnel, spot your favorite best pals like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Buzz and Woody, Nemo and Dory.

Perched over the water was the Ice Palace from Disney’s Frozen, Anna and Elsa as well their friends Sven and Olaf. It was a visual spectacle and a sight to behold, where over 2,000 Tsum Tsum themed lanterns were displayed.

The highlight of the exhibition was none other than 10m tall  Disney couple Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. It was made out of 1500 lanterns. Celebrating their 90th anniversary this year, this is truly a love for the ages.

In conjunction with school holiday, Sentosa offers free island admission for local residents via Sentosa Express or self drive. We decided to take this opportunity and took Sentosa Express to Beach Station for Sentosa Sandsation. I met Tselyn on our way while queuing up for Sentosa Express.

It was a long walk from Beach Station to Siloso Beach. After we passed by the Marvel backdrop, we still have 15 minutes walk away.

Welcome to Sentosa Sandsation: MARVEL Edition featuring popular MARVEL icons from the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and more as 15 larger-than-life sand sculptures.

Check out some of the character sand sculptures.
Who is your favourite superhero?

Feeling tired and hungry, we decided to head back to HarbourFront for our dinner.

Sunday 9/9/18

It's been a long time since I last eat out together with my family, so mummy suggested to head out for dinner at bak ku teh eatery.

We have a table full of food but nothing beats dipping the fried dough stick into the pork rib soup, the fried dough stick was soaked up with the goodness of the broth  We couldn't resist eating the fried dough stick till we ordered 3 plates which was shared among 5 of us. The bowl of bak ku teh was filled with spices and pork ribs.

Monday 10/9/18

It was a long hiatus since 四面夏娃 last gathering which was during June. Jasmine decided to organize this lunch meetup at Otoko Ramen as Meryl is in town this week. Jasmine and I were early so we helped the others to order the food so that the food was served shortly after everyone arrived.

Jasmine, Meryl and I all ordered Tonkotsu Ramen which comes with 1 piece of char siew, black fungus and spring onion. GF ordered the dry ramen.

Jasmine got us some cakes for sharing after our meal. Thanks Jas for the sweet gesture.

Lunch has been a great one because of them, spending time with people that matters.
Hope 四面夏娃 next gathering will not be too long away.
Thursday 13/9/18

Today we went Great World City for lunch and been to the place that we have not patronized for a long time, Cedele. I missed their all day breakfast.

I ordered Petite Breakfast which consists of 2 slices of wholemeal bread, 2 sausages and scrambled egg. I love the fluffy and moist scrambled egg. The breakfast was priced at $14++.

Friday 14/9/18

T.G.I.F.
Today was Grandma's birthday and we held a celebration dinner for her at Yan Palace @ Hong Lim Complex. We were one of the earliest to reach. Dinner started late at around 8pm as we need to wait for full attendance, everyone rush down here after our work.

We booked 2 private rooms that are interconnected with 4 tables. Our family members are expanding with many cousins married and having their kids.

It was a night full of good food. My uncle did the ordering with 9 course dinner.
Every dish was so nice.

Fried beehoon, our second last dish.

My favourite among all was the dessert, Fried Ice Cream.
The ice cream was concealed inside the fried bun, I enjoyed the cold ice cream served in the hot bun, best of both world. A great dessert to end off our dinner. I got the chocolate flavour while some gotten vanilla, mango and strawberry flavour.

Last but not least was the cake cutting ceremony.
It was gigantic size of cake, more than enough for 40 of us.

Happy 79th birthday, Grandma.
Pls stay healthy and strong. We love you always .

Tuesday 18/9/18

We went Menya Musashi @ Chinatown Point for lunch. It was a good deal to dine in during weekday lunch because they were having lunch promotion at $11.90++ for a bowl of ramen, a side dish and drink.

I ordered my favourite red Cha Shu Ramen with Fried Gyoza and Ice Houji Tea.
The spicy broth made the bowl of ramen a slurpy indulgence.

Wednesday 19/9/18

We headed to Plaza Singapura for lunch today, we went to our new favourite place, Cafe & Meal MUJI.

I always ordered the standard 2 Deli Set at $12.80. Our of the 5 selections, 3 of them were the same every time - 16 Grain Rice, Cumin Carrot Soup and Onsen Egg. The only difference was the Hot and Cold Deli which I will depend on the selection available. For Cold Deli, I chose Orecchiette Pasta and Mushroom Salad in Truffle Ranch Dressing. For Hot Deli, I chose Fried Chicken.

Saturday 22/9/18

We went to City Square Mall for a walk as we wanted to visit Decathlon to check out the sport wear.

Dinner was settled at Food Republic @ City Square Mall. I had Curry Chicken Noodle ($5.50) for dinner. The curry has a robust flavour but too spicy for my threshold. The spice started to hit after few mouthful and pace of eating become slower and slower. Nevertheless, the broth was really fragrant.

This sums up my happenings in September, look forward to my break in October.
