Bare Your Sole 2014 - Charity Walkathon

Every day, people in developing countries and disaster-stricken places make their way through undesirable environments. It is very common that the people there grew up with having a pair of shoes and they walked barefoot.

In Singapore, though we have a pair of shoes that we can wear around comfortably with, there are people that are living in poverty. While our ability allows, lets us all lend a helping hand to support children and adults in abject circumstances, raising much-needed funds for projects that improve their living conditions by building homes and fighting poverty.

Bare Your Sole to help raise funds and fight against homelessness and poverty.

Funds raised will benefit Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s local programme Project HomeWorks, an initiative designed to improve the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and the physically-challenged living in one-room flats across Singapore. This includes mobilising volunteers to do proper clean-ups, conduct repair and paint works, and replace bedbug-infested furniture.

We were up early to show our support to Bare Your Sole.

This year marks the sixth edition of Bare Your Sole. The barefoot charity walk was held at the iconic Gardens by the Bay East, where participants from all walks of life, had the choice to trek along a 2.5km or 5km scenic route to show their support for the cause.

Among the enthusiastic crowd were Habitat Ambassadors – Television host, film producer and former Nominated Member of Parliament, Eunice Olsen, model, actor and host, Paul Foster and travel host and writer, Anita Kapoor.

Took our my shoes and get ready for the walk.

Our journey began.

We caught a live performances by local acts.
This cheers us up and lighten our mood.

Captivated by the lovely scenery and the morning air was so refreshing. Usually in the morning I will feel very groggy, but after the walk I feel energetic and awake.

Keep walking.

Turn left for 2.5km and walk straight for 5km.

Be careful of the steps, there were some small stones on the floor.

This little boy is so cute.
Families and friends all enjoyed the day out at Bare Your Sole.

Yes, we completed our walk. Felt so accomplished.

Bare Your Sole 2014 saw 5,000 participants walk barefoot to help raise close to S$300,000 in the fight against homelessness and poverty.

Making up the 5,000 participants were over 50 migrant workers from Kim Seng Heng Engineering Construction Pte Ltd, some of which were inspired by personal events back home and wanted to do their part for the Singaporean community.

It was heart-warming to see  everyone coming together to contribute and make a a difference in the lives of others. Don't be hesitate to contribute, it is all the little things that we do that make the bigger difference.

A Trip to Garden By The Bay

Found myself at Garden by the Bay on the last day of January.

Although I had been to Garden by the Bay before for 2 times, but I had never stop to really take a good look at the beauty of this magical place. Today is my third visit to GBTB, I slowed down my pace and began to appreciate the scenery of the magnificent garden.

I was awed by the beauty of the greenery surrounding. Everything around here just looked so beautiful. Caught sight of the amazing Supertrees. These uniquely designed trees have large canopies that provide shade in the day and come alive with an exhilarating display of light and sound at night.

Taking a stroll at the broadwalk after our lunch and breathing in the fresh air.

My destination - Flower Dome.
So near yet so far.

Immersing ourselves in the beauty of this garden, it is such a picturesque landscape.

Settling down by the bench for a rest.

Serenade the beautiful lakes.
Little did I know, the lakes are a rich source of aquatic life from fish to plants.

Came under the Supertrees.

Relaxing and enjoying the sea breeze when we were sitting along the promenade. We get to admire the Marina Bay financial district skyline from along its 2km waterfront promenade.

I love life like that, so carefree and peaceful, embraced by the breeze, surrounding and the cloudy blue sky. At that moment, I forgot all my troubles and worries. The sea breeze has blew all of them away :P

Totally felt rejuvenated.

I wish for an staycation at Marina Bay Sands.
Anyone wants to sponsor or bring me there?

All right, it's time to bid goodbye to Garden By The Bay and go back to reality, back to the hectic urban life.
Looking forward to the next outing trip.

Good bye!

Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant at Garden By The Bay

Nestled at Garden by the Bay, Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant is the newest venture for award-winning Chef Yong Bing Ngen. Being his first seafood restaurant, Chef Yong has combined new innovations and classic favourites in the menu.

Majestic Bay is definitely the perfect locale for seafood indulgence with your family, friends and corporate partners.

Majestic Bay is located below the Flower Dome, the restaurant is inspired by the luxurious waterfront views of Marina Bay.

The design of the restaurant seeks to make the most of the impressive waterfront view of the Marina Bay, taking on nautical references in its design. The setting is reminiscent of a ship deck, with its modern palette of relaxing neutral tones, light oak floors, and a feature wall of round mirror portholes. The corporate colour of aquamarine further accentuates the water theme.

Majestic Bay has a seating capacity of 110. The design of the restaurant make me feeling cosy and at ease, it is a great dining place for family and group dining.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were being welcome by the freshest sea treasures that were in the live water tank. this allows customers to select their catch of the day before it is freshly prepared for them.

Looking for a private area that is quiet and cozy?

A private room is available for booking for intimate gatherings or birthday celebration of up to 14 guests.

I had a healthy and tasty Green Apple Juice.

Without any further ado, let's begin the dinner proper:

Trio prawns combo - Salad dressing/ wasabi mayo/ lemon butter milk sauce.

三味虾球 - 沙拉酱/芥末酱/奶柠酱

Price: $38 for 4pax

I love the flavourful pairing of the prawns. It leave me craving for more that I wouldn't reject if there is second plate. Salad dressing sauce is my favourite of all. It is rich in taste and mouth watering.

This is my first time trying wasabi prawn. Initially I was quite reluctant to try it as I'm not a fan of wasabi. But after the first bite, I find that the taste is still okay (not as bad as what I think). Wow, this is rather a unique dish.

Soup of the day  - Lotus Root Soup

瓦煲老火汤

Price: $18 for 2-4 pax
          $27 for 5-8 pax

The lotus root soup is appetizing and nourishing, no msg is being added in it. I could taste the goodness in it. This is a healthy soup that my family will have for dinner every week. The soup requires 6 hours of cooking to absorb the flavour and nutrition.

Are you feeling heaty right now? Perhaps you need a bowl of lotus root soup.

Steamed, Su Dan fish, rice broth, “Teochew” style.

潮式粥水蒸苏丹鱼

Upon the first bite, I'm in love with the softness and tastiness of the meat. The soup is soaked with the essence of the fish and is full of flavour, there is no need to dip it with soy sauce. The fish is so fresh and I am pleased with the high quality dish. But there is one thing I would like to point out, be please careful when consuming the dish as there are lots of tiny bones in it.

Live crabs, Bay’s signature “Kopi” sauce.

冠华咖啡焗肉蟹

The signature "Kopi" Crab is the main highlight of the night. This is a uniquely Singapore dish inspired by Chef Yong Bing Ngen's love for coffee and it is currently the only restaurant that served Kopi Crab. The crab is cooked with a special sauce made from a blend of 3 different varieties of coffee beans. Apple jam, a small portion of marmalade and orange juice are used in the Kopi Crab sauce to create an extra burst of fragrance.

When the crab was flambeed with rice wine and coffee liqueur, our table was immediately filled with the strong aroma of coffee. The kopi crab has got a rich taste of caramel and coffee with the sweetness done to perfection. I must say the dish is innovative, I have never thought of such combination before. It is definitely worth giving a try, your meal at Majestic Bay will not be complete with it

Sautéed, bamboo clams, water spinach, sambal chilli.

竹蚌马来风光

Price: $16 for 2-4 pax
         $24 for 5-8 pax

Sambal water spinach is my favourite vegetables dish, I will never failed to order this is any restaurant. Simply love the sambal taste.

Baked rice, assorted seafood, chef’s recipe sauce.

海鲜大烩焗饭

Price: $68 for 4-6 pax
           $88 for 7-12 pax

This is another recommended order when you visit Majestic Bay. This was inspired by a popular Portuguese dish Chef Yong sampled in Macau. The baked rice was made with quality ingredients like baby abalones, plump scallops, mussels and prawns, topped with a spice cream sauce and baked with mozzarella cheese to form a fragrant crust.

The baked rice was infused with Japanese Curry and it tasted heavenly delicious. I am already missing it.
The rice had been fried before baking it, this was why I could taste the crispiness in the rice.

Sweet’s temptation

甜品诱惑

Price: $20 for 4 pax

A sweet end to the meal. We had the dessert platter which consist of Pancake with Red Bean Paste, Steamed Custard Buns with Salted Egg Yolk, Black Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Yam Paste Stuffing and Shredded Coconut, and Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Fresh Cream Stuffing.

Black Glutinous Rice Dumpling was wrapped with Pulau Hitam and Yam Paste in it. It was rich in flavour.

The Mochi with Fresh Cream was candy sweet.

Pancake with Red Bean Paste was my second favourite, it was yummy good.

My favourite of all was Steamed Custard Buns with Salted Egg Yolk. The custard bun was caught in the middle of sweetness and salty. I loved it so much, especially when the filling came flowing out when you bite it - the fusion of salted egg yolk with the bun. It's mouthwatering!!!

Are you already drooling, check out the restaurant now.

Johnnie Walker Circuit Lounge

The long waiting ultimate Singapore F1 party was back in town after a year:

Johnnie Walker Circuit Lounge

It was formerly known as Johnnie Walker Jet Black Party. Check out my Jet Black party last year http://paradiseger.blogspot.sg/2011/10/johnnie-walker-jet-black-f1-party.html

This weekend was all about Formula One (F1). I was at the race circuit last night watching the car racing and concert. So tonight, I'm gonna join in the fun at Johnnie Walker Circuit Lounge Party.

I'm so excited for the party.

This year, Johnnie Walker Circuit Lounge party was held at the Flower Dome @ Gardens by the Bay.
Do you know that this was actually my first visit to Garden by the Bay. Took a photo at the Supertree Grove.

These Supertree have large canopies that provide shade in the day and come alive with a exhilarating display of light and sound at night.

GF and I were in our chic black outfit.
We loved our lanyard. The lanyard will be our identification pass, which allows us to walk freely as well as to take photo at the photobooth where they will be automatically updated in our facebook.
Cool right?

Indulging in Asian-inspired Johnnie Walker cocktails.
GF got Yuzu cocktails while I had Coconut & Pandan syrup cocktails.
Cheers to Johnnie Walker.

Trying out the photobooth.
TZ always loved to photobomb. See, this picture was the evidence. I think I picked up the bad habit from him. I also start to photobomb in others' photo.

A group photo with my clique.
We formed the human pyramid to fit the six of us into the photo.

Another photo with the racer.
VICTORY!

Light canapes were being served during the party. With food and drink, you can keep the night going without  being easily drunk.

Thanks William for the pictures.
I enjoyed the night with the party goers.

Check out how big our group was.
A great night with the awesome group.
Say Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Life is a party.

Typical us.
We simply loved to camwhore.

See what's happening behind us. TZ tried to photobomb again. Lol.

With TZ. Finally he was not hiding behind anymore.

With Andrew, enjoying the music.

Headed outside for some fresh air and to take a look at the scenary.

Super love this photo of us.
Keep our friendship going.

Party-goers were treated to an entertainment line-up consisting of US-based DJs Clinton Sparks and Disco Fries as well as DJ Ray Ray from Taiwan and Dave Does from Sydney.

The guys enjoyed taking pictures too.
"Come, say cheese."

Party rock is in the house tonight
Everybody just have a good time.

Hate that it's a Monday tomorrow. I wish to stay on at the party.

What beats going to a party in a big group.
Johnnie Walker party is always a blast, it never fail to bring so much fun to us.

Johnnie Walker, see you again next year.
Keep Walking.
