Drive Safe With The Stars at ComfortDelGro Driving Centre

My TGIF began with a starstruck night where we get close-up encounter with the local celebrities at ComfortDelGro Driving Centre located at Ubi.

ComfortDelGro Driving Centre held their media showcase of "Drive Safe With The Stars" where renowned local celebrities will put their driving skills to test using the newly developed revolutionary visual-based management software, Driver Development Tool, which collects driver’s performance data via a series of cameras and advanced sensors.

We had a group photo taken before we headed down for a car ride with the stars. Thanks CK for sending us the photo.

From left to right: Kok Weile, Constance Song, me, Jian Ruyi, Li Nanxing, Kenny, Julie Tan, CK, Jon, GF.

There is no need for me to introduce local celebrities - Li Nanxing, Constance Song and Julie Tan. But for Weile and Ruyi, they are the next rising stars who are currently signed under LNX Global, managed by our ah ge, Li Nanxing.

Without further ado, we proceeded to the car ride next where the Driver Development Tool was put to test.

Jon and I was assigned to Constance's car. During the ride, the instructor explained to us how the Driver Development Tool works.

ComfortDelGro Driving Centre has introduced Drive Safe Course (half day) which uses the Driver Development Tool, a unique visual - based management software that comes with a portable in - vehicle logging system, cameras and advanced sensors to collect performance data during a training session.

The instructor was analysing the data in his laptop screen which displayed the vehicle handling, road cornering and traffic navigation skills of a driver, detailed in graph s and then profiled into retrievable data.

The entire training session is captured on video to heighten learning retention. Drivers can watch their mistakes on playback immediately after a session and take steps to correct mistakes such as sudden accelerating and braking , improper hand position on steering wheel, insufficient scanning of the environment, tailgating as well as failure to check blind spots or signal correctly.

Sitting at the back and relax during this 10 minutes ride, we felt safe with Constance's driving skill though she told us that she just got her license recently.

We went back to the room and mingled with my friends as well as ah ge, Li Nanxing.
Ah ge is very friendly in person, he came over to join us for an interactive talk, making us hyped up.

Finally my partner has arrived. As Linda has not taken the ride yet, I accompanied her for another round of ride. This time round, we were assigned to Ruyi's car.

Ruyi got his driving license one year ago and he was already quite steady in his driving. Driver Development Tool made use of technology to help us become safer drivers and riders.

We also had small talk with Ruyi where we found out that he just came back from his filming in China.

We went back to the room for the analysis of Driver Development Tool, starting off with the result of ah ge, Li Nanxing.

Ah ge has also shared with us that he picked up 2B Bike Riding Course enrolled with ComfortDelGro Driving Centre’s last year and has obtained Class 2B Licence this year. He added that the instructor was very experienced and patient. He will be able to ride a bike should future acting roles require it.

The report projected three key areas of analysis including vehicle handling, road awareness and traffic navigation. Instructors can provide constructive and meticulous feedback based on the result to drivers and riders immediately after every driving session.

The software detected drifting of the vehicle when cornering, the advice given is to reduce speed before entering a bend and do not turn the steering wheel forcefully.

Next was Julie Tan, who scored pretty high for all the components.
Julie is currently enrolled in a Class 2B Course. She shared that it is not easy learning to ride a bike, but the ComfortDelGro Driving Centre instructor has been very patient with her.

Julie also stressed the importance of Drive Safe Course after she experienced a horrifying car crash in Italy just weeks ago. It dawned upon her to not take road safety for granted and the Drive Safe Course serves to remind her so.

Last but not least was Weile.
He was very confident about his driving skill but the result showed otherwise. His score was the lowest among the 3 of them.

Here's when the customised Driver Development Tool comes in handy, it helped Weile to assess his driving skills and improve the way he drives.

A solo photo with Li Nanxing. It was really nice to see such a friendly ah ge. Hope to see you again in another event.

With Julie, it has been awhile since I last seen her. She still look beautiful as ever.

The Secret Jay Chou's Jukebox Musical Opening Night

A remarkable musical that follows the passionate story of Jay Chou’s iconic movie – THE SECRET is finally here in Singapore.

Being a fan of Jay Chou's this musical got me feeling thrilled and getting the best of both worlds -  watching the movie scenes and listening to the familiar songs of Jay Chou.

The Secret Jay Chou's Jukebox Musical is now showing in Singapore at the MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands, from now to 15 April 2018.

Ticket price starts from $48 to $148.

Showtime
Wed - Fri: 8pm
Sat: 2pm & 8pm
Sun: 1pm & 6pm

The Secret Musical is created by award-winning Broadway team featuring more than 20 famous songs of Jay Chou, creating a Jukebox Musical.

Watching Jay Chou's Jukebox Musical is like re-watching the movie. The Secret is an adaptation of Jay Chou's multi award-winning directorial debut, Secret.

As we watched the musical, we traveled back through time with a student in piano major, Ye Xianglun, and the beautiful and mysterious student, Lu Xiaoyu.

Fear not if you don't understand Chinese because there are digital screens at both sides of the stage with English surtitles during the show.

Xianglun and Xiaoyu first met each other in the piano room and a beautiful romantic love story unfolds as the secret that connects them is revealed.

This is a passion, friendship, love, family and youth filled musical not to be missed. Listening to all these songs made me want to sing along. Nothing beats listening to all the Jay Chou's songs that got me want to hit the replay button if there is.

The musical features these songs:
<<星晴>>
<<听妈妈的话>>
<<简单爱>>
<<爷爷泡的茶>>
<<屋顶>>
<<稻香>>
<<夜曲>>
<<晴天>>
<<蒲公英的约定>>
<<搁浅>>
<<牛仔很忙>>

The rooftop scene was my favourite scene. The place where they sang 屋顶 and share their first kiss.

The musical ended with a sweet ending.

The musical was light-hearted with some hilarious scenes included. There was never a boring moments and the sequential of the songs were all nicely arranged and meaningful. The songs were all deeply etched in my memory. The piano melody too was beautiful and touched my heart.

It was a great performance put up by the casts.
Great music, great casts and quality time spent create an unforgettable night for me.

The Secret Jay Chou's Jukebox Musical is now showing at MasterCard Theatres @ Marina Bay Sands until 15 April 2018. Click here for purchase of tickets.

Celebrity-led tour to #SAF50atVivo with Irene Ang

2015 is a special year for all Singaporeans.

Not only does it marks the 50 years of Singapore's independence, it is also the 50 years milestone for the formation of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

Our independence did not come by easy, military defence plays a big part in keeping Singapore secure and to deter foreign intervention. To celebrate this remarkable milestone of SAF’s 50th Anniversary, the three armed forces — the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) have come together to showcase the military exhibition at SAF50 Vivo.

Actually I try to ballot for the tickets to #SAF50atVivo, however lady luck is not with me again and I didn't manage to got it. Thank FLY Entertainment for this invitation, I have the opportunity to go on a celebrity-led tour to SAF50atVivo hosted by Irene Ang. This is awesome!

With my tour guide, Irene Ang, who will be leading us through exclusive routes, sharing behind-the-scenes information and giving more insight about SAF50.

Our first destination was on boarding Landing Ship Tank (LST) RSS Endurance - one of the Navy’s largest warship.

RSS ENDURANCE 207 is equipped with a well-dock and a flight deck, they provide sealift capability to the RSN.

The SAF personnel sharing with us their experiences during the search of AirAsia flight QZ8501. They have recovered a body and fuselage of the plane.

Exploring around.

Looking down from the highest peak.

Paused for a selfie against the beautiful scenery of Sentosa.

With HP who was on board the tour too.

Finally we board the Fast Craft Utility (FCU). The ride was the best part of our tour. FCU brought us out on a ride to experience riding on this gentle giant.

Wore a cap so that my hair will not be so messy and flying around.

The short 15 minutes ride was coming to an end, we were reaching the dock.

The FCU is part of the Navy's asset and plays a vital role in land-sea operations. It can lift up to 18 tonnes of equipment and personnel, at a speed of up to 20 knots. That is how the troops and equipment are transported across rivers and seas.

We returned safety back to RSS ENDURANCE thanks to the Navy officers who were working hard behind the scene.

With my friendly tour guide, Irene Ang. Thanks for organising this educational tour.
This marked the end of visit to RSS ENDURANCE. Time to head down to the land for more exhibitions about SAF in Vivo City.

We stopped by at the RSAF Black Knights exhibition.
The Black Knights is the official aerobatics team of the Republic of Singapore Air Force featuring six F-16C Fighting Falcons in formation flight.

The three armed forces has come a long way to become who they are today.  Thanks to the pioneer and current servicemen and women for the great jon. You guys are the pillar of strength to our nation.

They were showcase of military vehicles where the public have the chance to check out the vehicles up close.

More and more military vessels.

The RSAF impressed us with the world's most sophisticated aircraft.

There were mini games going on as well.
See, Irene Ang was learning to fire the missile of the enemy warcraft.

Training to be soldier, fight for our land. Singapore Army is always there to ensure that our defence remains strong and solid. Salute.

A group photo to end off the insightful tour at SAF50 Vivo.

It was an unforgettable and fun education insight where I learnt and experienced more about the work life of SAF. It makes me want to join SAF too.
