Canopy Garden Dining at Bishan Park

Canopy Garden Dining is located in the heart of Bishan Park, tucked between the greenery surrounding and residential area.

Canopy Garden Dining is a popular dining spot for residents staying in Bishan to unwind after their activities in the park. Furry pets are welcome at the cafe too.

It has been 8 years since I last visited the park, the cafe I been to previously was not longer around.

The alfresco dining does not have much of a view except for the leaves covering up the roof. Nevertheless, it is still a great place to chill over a meal. Beware of ants dropping down from the roof, I flipped away at least 3 to 4 ants dropped on my hand during my entire time there.

I had Ice Chocolate which I felt was too bland in taste.

I decided to order Grilled Chicken Sandwich because it was served with fries. It came in a generous portion, making the fries very addictive.

The grilled chicken was sandwiched in between the sourdough toast together with onion marmalade, tomato, mesclun. Each ingredient contained different texture (hard, soft and crunch) and flavours.

After the lunch, it was time to burn off the calories away. Took a stroll along the park and admire the green landscape. The mid afternoon sun was glaring and half of the time we were power walking so that we could complete the walk faster.

After taking in the greenery, we spotted McDonald and decided to seek a shelter there while having ice cream. The hot afternoon heat just made me want to stay indoor and had something chilling.

It must have been years since I last had Oreo McFlurry Ice Cream, the packaging has even changed, missed it so much. I love that it comes in a big cup that satisfied my cravings for oero ice cream in a quaint surrounding.

I think it is hard to find another McDonald in Singapore that offers such a great greenery view and cloudy sky. This is the view that I have when having ice cream, the view is even better than Canopy Garden Dining.

Lime Restaurant at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering

Every time I walk past PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, I would always steal a second glance at their green city architecture. From the exterior to the interior, there is no shortage of greenery from the hotel. I finally visited the hotel for their lunch.

The greenery at the lobby created a tropical atmosphere and added liveliness to the hotel. It gave a comfortable feeling as I walked past the area to the restaurant.

Lime Restaurant is a warm setting and vibrant restaurant that offers buffet and ala carte menu ranging from local to Southeast Asian cuisine and international delights. I love the bright interior of the restaurant and we got a very comfortable sofa seat spot.

It was so thoughtful that they served Lime Juice as welcome drink.

I had Crispy Skin Lemon Smeared Norwegian Salmon and Crystal Bay Sweet Prawn which was served alongside with artichoke cream, edamame, roasted beetroot medley, king oyster mushroom, citrus quinoa, burnt tangelo and saffron sauce.

One of the best salmon I ever had. Not only was it beautifully plated, the salmon flesh was tender while the skin remained crisp and retained a flavourful taste when consumed. The prawns were very fresh that I could taste the natural sweetness in it.

Lime restaurant won my heart with their delicious food and relaxing ambience, it is worth visiting even though you are not staying at the hotel. Indeed a good finding.

Sea Scent at Keppel Club (Closed)

One thing I feel Singapore has no shortage of is food spotting places, there are so many choices of international and local delights that motivated me to try out something new when I went out with my friends or colleagues.

Keppel Club is home to numerous dining outlets and we visited Sea Scent, a laid-back casual dining located at the border of Singapore's Southern shoreline. The price is slightly lower than the normal cafes and restaurants, this compensates for the not so easily assessible location.

Sea scent is located at the swimming pool block. At sea scent, you can choose between dining with swimming pool view or sea view.

The most popular spots of the dining place will be near the edge of the sea while you can feel the soft breeze and unwind while savouring the food. Sea Scent is indeed a hidden gem tucked in Keppel Club.

The view you get for edge seat, it was just directly next to the sea and surrounding by the nature.
I spent quite awhile taking in the view ahead, soaking in the relaxing atmosphere and enjoying the peace.

It's a little pity that the pathway does not link up to the bridge ahead. If not, there will be more things to see. Luck was not on our side as it was still drizzling. I do not want droplets of rain on my food and drink, so I opt for a shelter seat (with obstructed view of the sea).

I had Apple Juice ($5.90++) while taking in the limited view of the southern shore.

I had Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon ($18.90++) served with green, smoked butter mash and lemon dill cream sauce. Though the plating looked very normal, the food was great and tasty. A hearty meal at a casual atmosphere.

The Enchanted Afternoon Tea at Platform 1094 Harry Potter Cafe

Being a huge fan of Harry Potter, it always enchanted me when there is an opportunity to visit places associated with Harry Potter, allowing a muggle like me to experience a moment in the Wizarding World.

Dropped by Platform 1094, Harry Potter inspired themed cafe located along Serangoon Road. As the cafe is situated at 1094 Serangoon Road, hence the cafe is named as Platform 1094 instead of Platform 9 3/4.

The wood panelled walls to the wooden tiles and tables made me feel like I was being transported to the wizarding village of Hogsmeade. The chairs are furnished with deer prints that resembled a Stag, the Patronus of Harry Potter.

There were props placed on a shelf where you can use for photo taking. They have a collection of owls.

The Green Frog Flexi (Ice Green Tea) made a grand appearance with bubbles popping out from the glass portion. The drink came with a holding stand that added different colours changed to the drink. It was visually magical just by looking at the bubbles popping and the colours transforming. Do note that the drink can only be consume when there is no more bubble.

The Golden Blood Mousse was toppled with Golden Snitch, the smallest ball used in Quidditch that the Seeker has to catch. The colours, Red and Yellow, symbolize the House colours of Gryffindor. The mousse was airy and moist, a refreshing dessert with it's slight sour taste.

The Savouries were served on a black tray with dry ice placed in the center of the tray, creating a magic fog aura. The savouries were:
- Avocado Salmon with Chicken Floss on Magic Ladle
- Bewitching Tuna Sandwiches: The sandwich was too hard for bite. It will be nicer if the bread is softer.
- Hocus Pocus Cheesy Bacon Potato
- Turkey Bacon in Golden Egg Shell

Not much of a theme for the savouries apart from the fog effect, but the food tasted delicious (except for the bread used for sandwich, too hard for biting).

A good afternoon tea made a great afternoon escape with the delicious selection of food and drinks. You don't only enjoy afternoon tea in a hotel, it is available in cafe too. Taking a break from the stressful life, enjoying the moment of peace and savouring the selection bit by bit. A perfect way to spend the raining afternoon at.

Product Review: Marc Mirren Jewellery + Vasol Inner Balancing Foaming Wash

Jewellery is a fashion accessory that we wear to enhance our overall style without looking too plain.

I was being introduced to these simple and classic jewelleries from Marc Mirren, a Swedish jewellery brand, that is suitable to wear for work and everyday occasion.

My picks are Trilogy Star Ear Studs (Disco collection) and Nova Bracelet (Vintegratan collection) which is made using stainless steel and AAA Cubic Zirconia stone.

Each piece of jewellery comes with a jewellery box. The design is classic and elegant, a minimalist design in my favourite star shape and the cubic zirconia stone is shining brilliantly.

The earring paired well with the minimalist bracelet that is magnified by three small stars. It immediately added a touch of feminine and complement my casual outfit.

The simple yet classic design of Trilogy Star Ear Studs won my heart with their sparkling cubic zirconia surrounding the star.

It is important to use feminine wash to keep V area clean as body wash might be too harsh for our skin due to different pH level.

I like that Vasol Inner Balancing Foaming Wash does not contain any harmful component or artificial perfumes, making it safe to use for all skin types. The feminine wash provides healthy pH (4.5~5.5) and moisture to the skin, it contains tea tree leaf oil extract to provide fresh and cooling effect.

The foaming wash lathered well into foam and gave a light scent. The foaming wash is gentle on skin and effective in removing unpleasant odors.

Stay fresh and clean with Vasol Inner Balancing Foaming Wash.
Thanks 0.8L for sharing me the product.

Birthday Celebration 2021: Chateraise + Pasta e Formaggio + Mitsuba

Friday 30/7/21

Happy birthday to myself. Another year older, another year wiser. This year, I learn to treat myself better and take care of my family members more. I am far from perfect but I am learning to become a better person.

July used to be a joyful month where I get to catch up with friends to gather for my birthday. Due to the return of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), this year was a quiet one for me where I just spent the day at home like any other days, felt a little restless from the vaccination shot last night.

Saturday 31/7/21

I received sweet surprises today.

KP dropped by my home in the late afternoon with a cup of bubble milk tea from PlayMade while Sis V got me cake and pastry from Chateraise knowing that it was my birthday yesterday. Thanks Sis for the lovely treats.

Friday 13/8/21

My birthday may be over but celebration did not stop in July.

It's good to have our vaccination early because we get to enjoy the privilege of dining out. I was fully vaccinated with the effect from yesterday and dedicated the first dining out for dinner with the girls.

We had our dinner at Pasta e Formaggio, an Italian place situated in Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore at Royal Group Building. They are known for their thin crust pizza, risotto and pasta. Being in the CBD, it is quieter in the evening, hence the restaurant only operate until 8pm.

We ordered a plate of Potato Wedges to share among three of us. The wedges arrived piping hot and tasted delicious when dipped with the chilli sauce.

All three of us ordered pasta. I had Aglio Olio with the add on of Chicken and Sausage.
The plate comes with a generous portion of serving and the price was reasonable. A nice price for Italian food. The aglio olio was packed with spicy kick that got my tongue feeling numb when I was left with few mouthful.

I have not seen the girls for at least half a year, it was really nice to catch up with the girls. Thanks Tracy and GF for the presents. Tracy got $20 Eatigo vouchers which we used for the dinner and the bill came up to only $11.50 per pax.

Saturday 14/8/21

So happy to be meeting up with friends two days in a row to have belated birthday celebration. It was so nice to be able to dine out after a month. As it was raining, we decided to have dinner in a mall at The Central @ Clarke Quay.

We were lucky to secure a slot just half an hour before the opening of Mitsuba Japanese Restaurant, a Japanese buffet restaurant serving authentic Japanese cuisine.

Having a cup of Green Tea while waiting for our dishes to be served.

Here were our picks, didn't order much because I was full after second round - Sashimi, Ebi, Gyoza, Takoyaki, Salmon Sushi, Smoked Duck, Fries, Salmon and Chicken Cutlet.

The best dish of all in my opinion was the Scallop, which was juicy and fresh. The sauce coated was delectable, sending a wave of satisfaction when consume. Thanks J for the dinner and presents.

That's all for my birthday update.
