Birthday Celebration 2022: Sweet Treats

I had Cha Yen ($8++), Paradise Thai Iced Tea, the classic drink to order when having Thai food. The tea was robust and flavourful.

I had my favourite Curly Fries ($9++) which was very addictive to eat on its own or dipped with the chilli sauce. The portion of the curly fries were generous for the price paid, definitely value for money.

For main course, I had Pla Kapong Neung Ma Nao ($29++) where the steamed barramundi fillet was topped with green chilli, garlic and drizzled with lime sauce. This dish has the Thai essence of sour and spicy notes, it was refreshing and yet spicy at the same time.

Happenings in May to July - Kiwami + TCC + Growell Scalp Lotion

Monday 9/5/22

No Monday blues because I have a yummy lunch at Kiwami (Chinatown Point). The thing I like about going back to workplace is that we can dine out. We were attracted by their lunch promotion and were glad to secure a table when we walked in because the restaurant looked like it was almost full house.

The lunch promotion came with Ice Tea and 3 pieces Gyoza. I had Cha Shu Fried Rice ($9.90++) for my main course. The fried rice executed fair amount of wok hei in every mouth and I finished every bit of it.

Tuesday 17/5/22

I had Thai Green Milk Tea to ease my thirst, which had a refreshingly light flavor.

I had Sweet Potato and Yam Crepe Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream which not only looked nice in plating but tasted delectable too. The crepe cake was infused with sweet potato and yam fragrance that can be tasted in every bite. The vanilla ice cream matched harmoniously with the cake and boosted extra sweetness to the overall taste.

Sunday 5/6/22
Today was Dad's lunar birthday and Sis V got our family a fruit cake from Chateraise. Thanks sis for the cake, I love the fruit cake that I finished half of it by myself.

Tuesday 19/7/22

As time was still early after the lunch, we decided to look for a place for drink and settled with TCC @ Suntec City.

I had Icy Coconut Cooler ($9.80++) made of coconut flesh, coconut water and wheat grass. The drink was refreshing and a thirst quencher on a sweltering hot day.

Saturday 23/7/22

I had Croque Monsieur ($16.80++) with grilled turkey ham and gruyere cheese in brioche bread, served with fries. I was a bit disappointed when the food was served because it looked slightly different from the menu. It was pretty normal for taste wise, like overpriced sandwich.

Ever since I started to visit hair salon for my monthly treatment, I started to realise the importance of applying scalp lotion. I have been using ICM Pharma Growell Scalp Lotion which helps to rejuvenate hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. Spray it at affected areas at massage scalp gently with fingers. I get to know about this brand from recommendation by Aesthetic Clinic.

That's all for the update, good night

Rediscovery Lunch Set Menu at Golden Peony Conrad Centennial Singapore

Golden Peony is an award-winning Chinese restaurant located in Conrad Centennial Singapore level 3.

It is a favourite among working crowds due to its strategic location and the use of premium ingredients for a gastronomic journey.

First course was Steamed Dim Sum and we can choose 2 out of 3 items, I chose Pork Siew Mai with Mini Abalone and Carrot Cake with Homemade Signature X.O Sauce.

The presentation of the dish looked exquisite and tasted delectable. I loved the carrot cake was savoury with bite size radish cake and the bean prouts has added crunchiness to the dish.

Second course was Fried or Baked Dim Sum and we can choose 2 out of 4 items, I chose Pan-fried Chili Crab Bun and Black Pepper ‘Peasy’ Swan Pastry.

The Pan-fried Chili Crab Bun has a burst of chili crab broth when bite open and the skin was thick enough to withhold the filling in it. The Swan Pastry has a light crispy and flaky black exterior which was quite crumbly, need to be careful when eat as the flaky bites will scattered around the table.

Third course was Soup of the Day which was Lao Huo Tang with Chicken and Lotus Root. The soup was flavourful with the generous amount of ingredient in it. A healthy cleansing of my palate before moving on to the next course.

Fourth course was Lobster Fragrant Poached Rice with Superior Broth. The poached rice was covered by a big cracker. You can directly eat the cracker or soak it in the broth.

The broth has soaked up the rice and lobster, bringing a fragrance in every bite. The not yet softened cracker added a crunch, which contrast against the soft pao fan. The bowl has a balance of flavour, the lobster meat tasted fresh and sweet. I really enjoyed it.

Last but not least was Chilled Cream of Avocado Vanilla Ice Cream. It was unusual to see this dessert as Chinese restaurant typically mango sago, hence this was quite refreshing for me. The avocado cream has a thick consistency and a pleasant mix of flavour with the vanilla ice cream. A sweet icy finish to our delicious lunch.

Singapore

I had Chicken Cordon Bleu for my main course, something different from what I normally order. The portion of the chicken was quite generous.

Places to Dine near Telok Ayer (2022 Edition)

Telok Ayer is another area with lots of good food and located directly at MRT line. With many restaurants popping up along the areas, I don't need to travel far to try out different variety of food during lunch time. I have came up with a compilation for places to dine near Telok Ayer.

1. BOTAN Japanese Restaurant

BOTAN Japanese Restaurant is a traditional Japanese restaurant specialising in sushi, sashimi and Omakase. The restaurant has a cosy and quiet ambience, and offers a variety of lunch set that make a good spot for lunch.

I had Tempura and Salmon with Mentaiko Sauce set. The tempura has crispy batter which pair well with the soy sauce, I like that the tempura was not too oily. Overall, it tasted pretty normal.

The set came with Green Tea and Chawanmushi, I added on for a scoop of Japanese Roasted Black Sesame Ice Cream. Now I'm in love with Black Sesame Ice Cream, it contained a strong nutty flavour that made it very addictive.
