Johor Bahru Day 2 and 3: Siang Kee Seafood Restaurant + Restoran Ya Wang

Saturday 31/12/16

Happy New Year Eve, everyone.
Is everyone having a great time out there?

We woke up at 8 plus to freshen up ourselves and get ready to proceed for the free breakfast provided by the hotel. We have a great rest and the room was so cozy, till we don't feel like getting up. The aircon was so cold till I have to put on a cardigan all the time I was in hotel room.

We headed down to Palm Garden Cafe @ level 1 at 8.50am. Free breakfast was served from 6am to 10.30am.

Here's what I have for breakfast.
I love anything with eggs.

Picked some light bites from the buffet spread.
They have spring roll, siew mai, sausage and fried wanton.

The portion of breakfast was just nice for me.
After breakfast, we went back to hotel to rest again. Today will be a relaxing day since our itinerary was just shopping at AEON Mall Tebrau City, so we just chill and take our time. No need for rushing today.

I love this stripe cardigan, it brings out a chic vibe to my outfit.
Enough of rest, ready to head out.

The swimming pool was located at level 11.
Can you spot it?

We went down to Palm Garden Cafe again to try their cake.
We walked past the cafe and was attracted by their cake, so we stopped by to try their cake.

It has been a relaxing afternoon, where we laze around, enjoying the atmosphere and cake. The tai tai life was great.

In JB, you can really eat and shop all day with many places waiting for us to explore. A new fire just ignite in me, I found joy in travelling and exploring, trying out new eatery, visiting new places, learning of new fact or history and gain new experience.

I didn't much photos when we were at Aeon Mall Tebrau City since it was shopping.
Upon reaching, we explored around to select the place we wanted to try for lunch and we settled for Vivo American Pizza & Panini.

I tried on the Country Chicken Cutlet at RM22.90.
The deep fried boneless chicken was coated with seasoned batter mix. Yet another satisfying meal.
Coming to JB is really just eat and eat.

After I was done with shopping 2 hours later, we went down to J.CO Donuts & Coffee to chill out.
We ordered a J.Cool yogurt with 2 toppings for sharing.

I got myself 2 tops during the shopping. Feel so happy, plus my loots from yesterday, I got a total of 5 new clothes. Just nice can wear it for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Feeling a little tired, we went back to hotel to have a short rest before heading out for dinner.

We traveled down to Taman Sri Tebrau for our dinner at Siang Kee Seafood Restaurant. A very famous zichar stall that serves variety of seafood and Chinese cuisine. The stall can be found along the stretch in the hawker centre.

The stall attracted crowds during night time.

We ordered sugar cane drinks that come in small and big size.

Hot plate tofu.

I always love eating hot plate tofu, it contains 2 of my favourite - sizzling egg and egg tofu. The gravy added flavour to the dish, bringing out the flavour.

Kang kong.
The portion seemed a bit too much for just two of us.

Salted egg prawn.
After removing the shell, you can't really taste the salted egg. It just taste like normal prawn. I prefer those without the shells.

We have fish maw soup and cereal chicken. We don't really fancy the cereal chicken, we only ate half of it. But we like the soup very tasty and full of ingredients.

Address: 31 A, Jalan Keris, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia

Since the time was still early around 9pm, we decided to cross over to have a foot massage. It was a day full of good food and dessert, we have a great time so far.

We started off by washing our legs.

I wasn't enjoying the massage at all, the therapist used so much strength despite me telling him to be gentle. My legs were full of blue-black after that.

I will not come to this massage centre again.

We went back to hotel after the massage.
This was how I spent my new year eve.

Sunday 1/1/17

It's the first day of 2017.
Happy new year, everybody.

We woke up at 8 plus again to have our free breakfast buffet provided by the hotel. Feel a little dreading today, it was our last day of our short getaway. We headed down to the restaurant at same timing as yesterday.

We started our day with a nice breakfast provided by the hotel. The eggs were so nice and addictive, we helped ourselves with 2 servings, so yummy.

Other than eggs, I also ate you tiao.
It is not crispy like the one we have in Singapore.

Went back hotel to pack our barang barang and  rest until check out time.

Dome with packing up. Time for check out and proceed for our lunch.

It was a memorable trip for us, our first getaway, enjoying each other companion and eating all way long. I have a comfortable 3D2N stay at New York Hotel. It is decent and clean, a place that I will want to come back and stay again.

Stepping out of our hotel.
Waiting for the car to pick us up.

We traveled down to Jalan Segget which is near JB custom to try out Restoran Ya Wang 鸭皇药材烧腊大王.

A very famous restoran for their duck. It was nearly full house when we reached at 12.30pm.

We had ai yu ice jelly drink recommended by the staff.
The drink was refreshing and ease our thirst.

We ordered half a duck to share.
I'm not really a fan of herbal but this herbal duck is an exception. The gravy coated gave a savoury taste and the herbal taste was not that overwhelming.

My favourite omelette. I simply love eating eggs.

Having good food makes me happy. Lunch cost was about RM67.

Address: 28, Jalan Segget, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Opening hours: 8am - 6pm

After lunch, we walked to JB City Square which was around 10 minutes walk. We decided to catch a movie before we went back to Singapore. We were watching 'Why Him' which started at 2.30pm. The movie ticket costs RM18 per person.

During the holidays, loving but overprotective Ned (Bryan Cranston) travels to California to visit his daughter Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) at Stanford University. While there, he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). Even though Laird is a multimillionaire, Ned disapproves of his freewheeling attitude and unfiltered language. His panic level escalates even further when he learns that Laird plans to ask for Stephanie's hand in marriage.

'Why Him' is a hilarious and entertaining show. I was laughing all the way from start to end. There is lots of swearing words use. It's about a movie of how the future father-in-law accepts the prospective son-in-law, how they get along and win her father's consent.

It's worth watching for the humour.

Movie rating: 3.5/5

Before I left JB, I got macha and salted egg cheese tarts from Season. I find it nice when I first tried in at KP's place, so I wanna it for my family to try.

That goes my 3 days short getaway trip.
It was my first time away of Singapore during New Year. Back to Singapore for a new beginning. Hope 2017 will be an awesome year, happy 2017.

Can't wait for the next getaway.

Happenings in December - Peony Jade + AXN Ultimate Year End Bash + NYE Outing

Friday 12/12/14

Since Christmas is approaching, my group decided to reward ourselves with good food for our pre-Christmas lunch. They have selected the venue at Peony Jade Restaurant @ River Valley Road. They are having lunch buffet at $43++, you can order as many dishes as you want.

We started our meal with Szechuan hot and sour soup.
The soup was really hot and spicy, I didn't manage to finish the bowl of soup.

Sashimi.
Out of 8 people in the table, only Guo Hai, Taiyee and I eat sashimi. The rest of them don't like eating it raw.

The only plate of dim sum served in the buffet.

Cereal prawns.
Though we didn't order much, we felt full after eating all these dishes.

Mango sago for dessert.

Vanilla ice-cream.
Another way to eat this is to put the ice-cream inside mango sago, it tasted delicious.

Saturday 13/12/14

Spent my Saturday night partying at AXN Ultimate Year End Bash. The party was held at M2 Academy, Orchard Gateway @ Emerald. Thanks GF for bringing us to the party.

Credits to AXN.

A group photo of us enjoying our drinks away.
We have a great time with the great company.

One of the AXN’s offerings is "The Voice" that will premiere on 17 Dec 2014 at 8.05pm. "The Voice" is an American reality television singing competition.

The main highlight of the show is the coach chair.
If the coach is interested in an artist, he/she will press the button and the chair will turn towards the artist with the words "I want you" lights up.

Just like this.

Thanks Meryl for the group photo.
End the post with this photo taken at the photo booth. We have fun at the photo booths too, trying to swap position and pose for photo within 3 seconds.

Wednesday 31/12/14

Chill over at Marina Square on New Year Eve afternoon after we ended our work. We had our lunch at Xin Wang Hong Kong Café. A place where I love coming frequently. Instead of ordering main course, we decided to order some side dishes to be shared among ourselves.

We have French Toast with Ice Cream.
This toast alone is very filling. I remembered having this once for lunch and I couldn't finish the toast.

French fries to dip with curry sauce and mayonnaise. Interestingly, the curry sauce is the one we always have for chicken curry.

Last but not least, siew mai.

We felt so full after eating so we took a stroll along towards Marina Bay Sands. When passing by the floating platform area at about 3pm, lots of Big Bang's fans were already queuing up, hoping to get a good spot for the stage show despite Big Bang only come out at 12.30am after the fireworks. I kinda of regretted that I didn't bought the ticket early. When I want to get, the tickets for $28 were all sold out. I want to watch Big Bang performing live.

Everytime I pop by Marina Bay Sands, I will stop to take a photo of the beautiful landscape. I lost count of how many photos I have for this particular scenery.

With KP.

After hours of walking, our legs were tired and we were feeling thirsty. We wanted to find somewhere to rest and have something cooling. So we have mango pomelo sago at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert to round up our day. It was a nice gathering on last day of the year.

Siloso Beach Party NYE Countdown 2013/2014

Good bye 2013 and hello 2014.

Happy new year, everyone.

Here comes the day to celebrate this joyous moment.
How did you guys spend your last day of 2013, are you having fun at the countdown?

I have lots of fun at countdown. This time round, I spent my countdown at Siloso Beach Party.

I was all up for the beach party. I was dressed in comfortable top and short and slipper.

Love my makeup and hairdo that day.

With my awesome companion, Christin. She is someone whom I enjoy going out with.

The pathway from beach station all the way to Siloso Beach was blocked off for the party. As such, only ticket holders were allowed to be in.

Jets of colours and a kaleidoscopic music line-up await party-goers.

Over 20 international and local DJs brought us 12 hours of good music, food, drinks and company across the five party zones all at Siloso Beach Party. The five party zones are C Side (Coastes, Bikini Bar & Sandbar), Azzura Beach Club, Mambo, Wave House Sentosa, and the Main Arena that catered to different types of individuals, satisfying their most ideal way of ushering in the New Year with the best company they could ask for.

We were here together with Damien aka Uncle Teh Peng and his friend.
Look, everyone was trying to capture the bubbles.

Here I was at the Main Arena. Wow, the crowds in there were having lots of fun with the foam. Shall explore the area before coming back here again.

Further up at the front was the main stage with sandy dance floor where the partygoers could dance along the sand-shuffling Siloso Beach.

We had our drinks with us - Carlsberg. What's party without drinks?

We had one and the half hour more to the countdown. Love the atmosphere, it's been quite sometimes since we last partied. Partying is always so fun.

Since we still had ample time, we decided to head to the foam pool to have ourselves soak in the foam. Last photo of us before we changed into t-shirt that we brought.

Foam pool, here we come.

Welcome to the party.

See the background behind us, a pool of foam started pouring out.

And more foam started falling all over us. Time to enjoy the foam party, the best moment of the party.

It was really fun when the foam dropped on us, an unforgettable moment for us. It brought me back to childhood memories, who doesn't love playing with foam when we were young?

What beats dancing and playing with foam?

Here was what happened aftermath. Our feet were covered with foam.

And we were literally all wet and my false eyelashes had fallen off. I looked like I just came out from shower. Thankfully, my clio eyeliner was still on. I was amazed by its durability, it was indeed waterproof.

Walking over to the Main Arena where the countdown will be held.

18,000 party-goers were at Sentosa’s iconic countdown party, it was indeed Asia’s largest beach countdown party. We danced to the closing anthems of , Siloso Beach Party (SBP) 2013.

It was a memorable countdown for both SBP DJs and the audience as waves of PaintGlow UV paint rained down on the crowd, leaving behind a neon coloured human canvas.

Over four hours, gallons of neon paint were mixed, hosed and sprayed across the Main Arena.

We grooved along with all the familiar music and even kpop songs like fantastic baby and I am the best, party rocks. Thank you DJ for bring the house down.

Here comes the moment we were all waiting for. In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our eyes were all glued to the sky when the firework started. Loud cheers were also ringing in the air.

"Happy fucking new year" - said the DJ.

The firework was really beautiful.

Everyone was greeting each other Happy New Year at this moment.

Siloso Beach Party was indeed an awesome and blast one, a memorable countdown for me and my friend. I love the fresh party concepts that Sentosa is having every year. I will definitely get all my close friends to be involved in this in the next countdown. Nothing beats partying with your favourite group of people.

Thank you, Sentosa.
