Happenings in December - Peony Jade + AXN Ultimate Year End Bash + Annie 2014 Movie + NYE Outing

Friday 12/12/14

Since Christmas is approaching, my group decided to reward ourselves with good food for our pre-Christmas lunch. They have selected the venue at Peony Jade Restaurant @ River Valley Road. They are having lunch buffet at $43++, you can order as many dishes as you want.

We started our meal with Szechuan hot and sour soup.
The soup was really hot and spicy, I didn't manage to finish the bowl of soup.

Sashimi.
Out of 8 people in the table, only Guo Hai, Taiyee and I eat sashimi. The rest of them don't like eating it raw.

The only plate of dim sum served in the buffet.

Cereal prawns.
Though we didn't order much, we felt full after eating all these dishes.

Mango sago for dessert.

Vanilla ice-cream.
Another way to eat this is to put the ice-cream inside mango sago, it tasted delicious.

Saturday 13/12/14

Spent my Saturday night partying at AXN Ultimate Year End Bash. The party was held at M2 Academy, Orchard Gateway @ Emerald. Thanks GF for bringing us to the party.

Credits to AXN.

A group photo of us enjoying our drinks away.
We have a great time with the great company.

One of the AXN’s offerings is "The Voice" that will premiere on 17 Dec 2014 at 8.05pm. "The Voice" is an American reality television singing competition.

The main highlight of the show is the coach chair.
If the coach is interested in an artist, he/she will press the button and the chair will turn towards the artist with the words "I want you" lights up.

Just like this.

Thanks Meryl for the group photo.
End the post with this photo taken at the photo booth. We have fun at the photo booths too, trying to swap position and pose for photo within 3 seconds.

Thursday 18/12/14

Spent my Thursday afternoon in Suntec City for a movie. This is my first time watching at the new Golden Village @ Suntec City.

We went for the movie Annie, a musical comedy movie, that was released on the day.

Cast: Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis, Rose Byrne
Director: Will Gluck
Release Date: 18/12/2014
Running Time: 118 minutes
My rating: 3/5

Synopsis
Annie (Quvenzhané Wallis), a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

Annie has the character that I admired of - strong perseverance and positive attitude. She still remained positive despite her past and continued her life with the other foster girls.

You can expect some hilarious scene from them. It was heart-warming watching the movie. The plot was good. I enjoyed watching it except for one point, I felt overloaded by the songs. As this is a musical movie, the cast will sing songs on and off (similar to High School Musical). Other than that, everything was good.

Wednesday 31/12/14

Chill over at Marina Square on New Year Eve afternoon after we ended our work. We had our lunch at Xin Wang Hong Kong Café. A place where I love coming frequently. Instead of ordering main course, we decided to order some side dishes to be shared among ourselves.

We have French Toast with Ice Cream.
This toast alone is very filling. I remembered having this once for lunch and I couldn't finish the toast.

French fries to dip with curry sauce and mayonnaise. Interestingly, the curry sauce is the one we always have for chicken curry.

Last but not least, siew mai.

We felt so full after eating so we took a stroll along towards Marina Bay Sands. When passing by the floating platform area at about 3pm, lots of Big Bang's fans were already queuing up, hoping to get a good spot for the stage show despite Big Bang only come out at 12.30am after the fireworks. I kinda of regretted that I didn't bought the ticket early. When I want to get, the tickets for $28 were all sold out. I want to watch Big Bang performing live.

Everytime I pop by Marina Bay Sands, I will stop to take a photo of the beautiful landscape. I lost count of how many photos I have for this particular scenery.

With KP.

After hours of walking, our legs were tired and we were feeling thirsty. We wanted to find somewhere to rest and have something cooling. So we have mango pomelo sago at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert to round up our day. It was a nice gathering on last day of the year.

Christmas Winter Wonderland @ Gardens by the Bay

Tis' the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Hope you guys have a lovely Christmas just like me. For me, I spent my Christmas with my lovely girls for an outing to Gardens by the Bay. Thanks Jasmine for the tickets.

Having been to Gardens by the Bay for a number of times, I have never been to Cloud Forest. Jas got us the tickets to both Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. So excited for it.

Here to our first stop: Cloud Forest

With Claressa, GF, me, Jasmine in front of the waterfall.
Cloud Forest is a mysterious world veiled in mist.

Upon entering, you can see a 5-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation shrouding the world’s tallest indoor waterfall showcases plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000-metres above sea level.

A glimpse of the walkway that we will be walking on later.
Gonna take a lift up to access to the mountaintop.

Breathtaking scenery at Lost World.
Immerse in the greenery surrounding.

Flower Power.

With Claressa. Miss her so much, I haven't seen her for a few months.

With Jasmine. She has just dye her hair with brown and pink. It looks good on her.

Thanks Jasmine for the photo.
I'm glad to know these bunch of girls in my life. We shared many great memories together.

Next, we moved on to Flower Dome.
Flower Dome was being transformed into a wintry wonderland with temperatures to match, as a glistening tower gleams in a realm of dreams. I'm feeling the Christmas mode now.

Welcome to the Christmas Wonderland at the Gardens.
I have arrived at the charming little town adorned with poinsettias and Christmas trees.

Terry bear hanging on the Christmas tree.

I love this photo of us the most.

With GF. Both of us dressed in similar outfit that day.

So cute, the bear in sock.

We found a fireplace for the wintry usage, something that we need in the chilling Flower Dome.

We have lots of fun posing for photos.

Thanks Jasmine for the tickets. It was a day well spent with the awesome girls. Hope we have more outings ahead in 2015.

Seeing all the cute decorations make me happy. I'm falling in love with the season.

I have joined Santa Claus and the reindeer in delivering Christmas gifts. Are you one of the lucky few that received my gifts?

The background was too beautiful that you couldn't resist photo spamming. I have too many shots over here.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
May it be a joyful one and Happy New Year.

Food Tasting - Insadong Korea Town at Resorts World Sentosa

Attention to all Korean cuisine lovers, Insadong Korea Town that specialise in Korean food has arrived at Resorts World Sentosa.

Insadong is one of the famous street located in the heart of Seoul that offers a rich history of arts and crafts with its wooden tea houses, boutique galleries and street vendors selling traditional snacks.

Now we don't need to travel to Seoul to experience the delectable Korean food at Insadong. We can savour the best authentic Korean food in Korean traditional setting at Insadong Korea Town @ Resort World Sentosa.

At 6,000 square feet with a capacity of over 300 diners, Insadong Korea Town offers an assortment of over 200 types of authentic Korean, Korean-‐Chinese, Korean-‐Western, Korean‐Japanese cuisine and a variety of street food.

For the first time in Singapore, you can look forward to dining in a setting, which is a replica of the famous Insadong Korea Street, one of the most memorable attractions in Seoul and represents the focal point of Korean traditional cuisine, culture and crafts.

You can even shop for Korean merchandise, accessories and souvenirs at the retail carts.

All the decorations and setting in Insadong Korea Town makes me feel like I have been transported to Korea. I like the interior of Insadong Korea Town, it is filled with mixture of colours that makes me feel cosy.

With a team of experienced chefs specialising in authentic Korean recipes brought in from Korea, and food supplies air flown direct from Korea, Insadong Korea Town presents a unique dining experience for anyone expecting the best from the Korean culture.

An unique finding in Insadong Korea Town is that they use self-ordering kiosks to order the food. There are a total of 6 kiosks available. Though this is uncommon is Singapore, but if you go to Korea, many restaurant and eatery are using self-ordering kiosks.

Lots of variety of Korean food to choose from, let's begin the feast now.

We have Iced Honey Citron Tea to ease our thirst and go with our meal.

First dish was Toppoki (Korean Rice Cake).
Toppoki is a popular Korean street snack. The soft rice cake was coated with the chili paste has a balance combination of sweet and spicy. Every bite tasted delicious and it indeed spiced up my appetite.

Second dish was Kimchi Pancake.
This is yet another great appetizer that I enjoyed eating.

The savory pancakes were super delicious. Dipping it with vinegar soy sauce covered the spiciness of the kimchi pancake.

Third dish up was Ginseng Chicken Soup ($28).

The taste of ginseng chicken soup was just right, it did not have the strong ginseng taste.

We added the milk into the soup to give a mild sweet taste to the soup.
The chicken was soft and tender. We wiped almost everything for this, the soup was so flavourful with so many ingredients in it.

Another popular dish in Korea, Bossam ($15).

I was blown away at the taste of it. The kimchi has bring out the hot and spiciness of the flavour. The spicy paste added to it helped to enhance the overall taste with a mild sweet-spicy taste, giving it a blast.

The correct way to eat it was to take a bit of the lettuce, add pork belly, kimchi, garlic on top of it and put some spicy paste, wrapped it and finished in one mouth.

Xiao Long Bao in Kimchi Soup ($13) found at Korea-Chinese stall.

The juicy and tender xiao long bao in kimchi soup has a more intense flavour than the usual chinese style. With each mouthful, I could taste the chewy minced pork filled with piping hot kimchi broth. It tasted marvelous.

Watermelon Soju ($30) to accompany our meal.
This is a popular cocktail drink in Korea with the blend of watermelon juice and soju.

Blending process.

Cheers.

Enjoying the watermelon soju with Meryl.
The alcohol was strong with the fruity watermelon juice taste in every sip.

The cream-based Pumpkin spaghetti.
Best to eat it while it is hot. The spaghetti was coated with rich cheesy sauce that gives a flavourful taste.

Mushroom Beef Bulgogi Hotpot ($34).
Best to have it share if you come in a big group. The ingredients in it were super generous.

Stir it well to ensure that the ingredients were cooked.

Beef Bulgogi Baked Rice ($15).
Baked rice is something that I always enjoy eating because of the cheesy coating.

We have found a new way of eating the baked rice, which is to put it in the hotpot.
Surprisely, the taste was good. After the baked rice was soaked in the hotpot, it absorbed the flavour of the broth and gave a distinctively taste. Taste so good, thumb up!

GF and I have each have Insadong's famous J-Cone ice-cream ($6).
The J-shaped snack aka Jipangyi is made of corn and vanilla ice-cream was injected into the corn. The corn was a bit hard so you will need to bite harder.

We ended the meal with Mixed Fruit Shaved Ice, something sweet, cooling and refreshing after a hearty meal.

Thank you Insadong Korea Town for the hearty dinner, I enjoyed eating every dish that night. I will definitely come back again to try the other dishes.

Insadong Korea Town is definitely a great place to relax and enjoy great Korean food with your friends and family after a day of fun at Resorts World Sentosa.
